  1. What I think I like the best is the reverse slopes for the roof line compared to the (very) large advertisment teeth and water tower, it adds a ramshakle look without making it look like a simple kit bash. Great job. Regards, Carl
  2. NIce job, and a good limited pallete. Regards, Carl
  3. I do like the term night camo for the primer black models. Sadley I see this to much, I think this is how the LGS owner got me to paint his...so perhaps it is a trap:) That said, I tend to paint very clean, so I think it falls under cartoon.
  4. Typically what I do is buy jewelry chain (Joann's fabrics) put some thin wire through it ant just replace it altogether. In this manner you can also play with it's pose as well.
  5. Hello, I have had a few of these moments. The first was a competion painted GW forest dragon, I was up till 3 Am lovingly painting highlights on each scale, and tinting the teeth smiling as the competion was in 7 hours. Steping outside to matte coat it I grabed the coat and it was dark as the devil's heart, no big I sprayed for about 2 minutes and realized at that point it seemed to be getting darker? I ran inside to find I had sprayed it with black armory primer><. The second one was a 10 year old child knocking my metal bloodthirster off a table, busting him to pieces, while the mother just looked on and said well it should not be out. (he was 2 feet into th egame table and the child picked him up and dropped him when his mom turned) I banned them both.
  6. One of the hings I noticed here that was subtle yes great was the fact that you used the stiching and the placement of it to look like a set of lips for her, great Job!
  7. I never really feel bad about my first few years of painting, many moons ago, the miniatures were still full of lead goodness and you could accidently rub a nose off a ogre with a swipe of your thumb due to the softness of the pewter. My wife having seen a few of my Ral Partha pieces of goodness will still comment on how horrible the paintjob was. I just tell her, "hey, I had not learned that licking your brush was not the best way to get a point on it, especially with testors enamels". Of course she does not find that funny, but you might. So as one of the other midnight painters out there I salute you! I am also impressed that in Detroit you were able to get the U-Haul through the construction unscathed. Regards, Carl
  8. In all honesty the one I wanted did not win, however look at it lke this, your getting a decision in the creative process and release of new toys. Not many companies would do that. Certainly GW would not. So all in all not bad, besides it is not like the other will not get released. Regards, Carl
  9. I guess I am lucky in a sense, most of the LGS I go to have open (used) minis, as well as single minis for sale all the time. So the climate in them helps things like this. If I want to find someone to trade minis with (or sometimes a entire army) it is not that hard. Do I think 32$ a started is a bit much, no, not really but I am more of a painter and modeler. After all a "starter box" for Space marines of which you will not use all of is 90$ and a single model mounted is around 30$. I also will pay up to 30$+ for a single mini if it is a amazing sculpt (Kingdom Death), even if I can not use it in a game. Regards, Carl
  10. I must admit the scissors thing seems like a rather unfair weapon against other puppets!
  11. Hello, I have seen this used to favor certain "home team" armies quite often, and it has be used rather horribly, for things such as decisons on ties, or to bump up a "home team" players score by paint scores being added. Should you play with unpainted minis? Sure if you want, however I also think if your going to show up at least show up with something painted, also for a new player to start out in a tourney is quite rough, so that really should not happen to often (horrible way to bracket a win for someone as well). You will also find that several game stores also have pictures they like to take of the winners as well. Chaos black and primer white armys just don't look as good in the promotional photos.
  12. Hello, I wanted a stage like base, so after sculpting one, I realised that she would not be walking planks as if they were from the docks. So I went the route of JoAnn's craft store and bought ash wood plugs, the kind you use to cover screw holes and such, used some wood varnish and done. That said it took like 2 days to dry:blast. I do like how it looks though as it has a polished wood look to it, and thank you for the compliments:) Regards, Carl
  13. Hello, I got the girls mainly due to loving the bulesque shows from when i was younger and even with the changes I still enjoy them now. So here is my version of Collette.
  14. I do like the green lining on her cloak for the Lillith model, it contrasts well for the pale flesh tone. As fo rthe pink shredder, I have seen a army painted in pink entirely of that faction, it was done for breast cancer awareness, so not a bad idea! Regards, Carl
  15. Hello, I am looking for that one as well, I want to give it to a expecting couple I know. I did find a site from Japan that had one, however they did not update it, they said they might have one in thier physical store. I wish you luck! Regards, Carl
  16. Hello, I have been pinning and gluing for many years now and I wan tmake sure you do understand when buying Zap-a-gap it comes in multiple kinds, and a strange variant. The difernce is the thickness of flow on the differnt types, all the way from gel like to flows like mercury, ie.thick to thin. There is also a accelrator available (for CA+) which just makes the glue bond faster. Thin works well if your just putting two small peices together (CA), or if bigger pieces (CA+) that also fills the gap (use thick if you need to do this), but it takes a full 24 hrs. to cure. The regular CA is faster but very thin and I can not stress enough not to open the bottle with your teeth, ( a person's you don't like perhaps, or one that droped said model) as (CA) will stick your lips together in painful ways. They also sell a "uncure" product as well, get this! It will remove the excess glue from the base and wherever as well as paint from your pallets. It also allows you to clean the tips of your bottle out between uses. Hope this helps! Regards, Carl
  17. I have been using double pistols cases for years, it is not to hard to cut the foam in them. They normally have 2 layers of thin foam that you can use under what you cut. I got mine from Dunhams, and Wal-Mart for around 20$ so you can do this on the cheap, have a good case, so you can spend more on minis. Hope this helps! Regards, Carl
