  1. Nice picture, the sepia tone is perfect!
  2. Sounds like a good way to lose a friend
  3. Yeah, Nihlus. I may have gone overboard on my fluff of it...probably why I'm not a writer.
  4. "Can a Gun kill someone with out bullets? Yes, but..." That seems the right analogy for this Q&A
  5. A little guild skew here, but I would vote on sonnia. Very good out of the box. She has a resser-lite ability in that she can kill someone and make them a stalker, Has less hard counters for cheaper (decent def for a caster type, can out range most other crews, can punish models for being in melee and the ability to shut down spells is so unspeakably amazing in so many situations.) Nico is very well rounded once he has a good amount of models to summon from but takes "more" investment (all masters take investing, depending on the level of competition you are playing).
  6. Yeppers. Raspy is very very screwed if you let her get out of position and a LJ/Lillith/Vik gets their sword on her. luckily between casting through her minions and some Pillars it is pretty easy for her to stay in safety why she throws exploding ice at her enemies.
  7. I think you played FnY right. Works the same on LJ, i.e. if misaki 6" wacked LJ and LJ riposted it, she would still do damage even though the model is not in her melee range. Fluff wise chalk it off to perdita sticking the bird with dynamite so when it returned back to the Austriger he had a deadly surprise!
  8. SoC is great only because most of our models are so independent and can all benefit greatly from fast (especially masters like Sonnia/LJ). The SOC/Luc + X strat is nice. Also the list I throw Misaki in (though Im not as sold on her as i used to be). Throw her up front with lucious round one and with her Wind spell + fast from SOC you can usually go to town turn one on something big. She is dead turn two though then LJ is there to take her place (and you saved LJ from having to endure the initial wave of foe.) but that said, Judge or Executioner work just as well if not better and cost less, heck even Frans works well with this, and he is significantly cheaper. Convict Gunnslinger is fun and even in a Perdita family list. I like having "gunslinger" trait on all most my whole line up. Perdita, Abduela, Convict, and Fransico (not a gunslinger but still fits the bill) as the core, and then fill in with what you need gives you a great gun line that is not shut down by the fast moving melee that can lock you up. Slinger is married into the family which justifies the 6 point cost imho. They can provide a great intercept wall to keep your nino/santiago safe. Are there better guild shooters? Yeah, but its a very enjoyable theme. Have to agree with previous poster that generally its hard to justify paying the extra point for mercs. Why pay 6 points for a Ronin, when my Stalker is almost as good (and two points cheaper). Hamlin (minion) is fun with Sonnia for the utility and with his hiring an extra ht1 model ability can give some great degree of hiring options to guild. Only tried him once though so really haven't seen if he is "worth" it or not.
  9. Malifaux isn't really a slaughter game anyhow, shines brightest when killing is just what happens between trying to accomplish your strats and schemes; That said, I do sometimes love a mindless slaughter, and do love that I lose the games where I focus to much on killing the enemy and not on gettin 'er done.
  10. I like a blind samurai that can beat the ever living snot out of everything that gets to close to her (yes she's a samaurai! that "greatsword" might as well be a nodachi). I like that they gave her a pistol. I really like that they gave her two! I like a boy named Sue. I like that neverborn players can't sleep at night; all those nightmares keeping them awake. I like that the Guild has a monopoly on Cowboy hats, sure a few have escaped to the outcasts, but we have the good ones. I like that baby cade can walk...and really fast, I mean that is really great for him, his parents must be proud...what is he, like 8 months? Most children aren't even walking by 8 months and he can out run most full grown adults...just terrific really...I can't even fault his parents for not taking that knife away, if my 8 month old had that kind of coordination to sprint at neck breaking speeds, I'd trust him not to hurt himself with a knife... I like that my blind samurai doesn't have to witness the mess that is made when she mistifies baby Cade. Keeps her concience clean. anywho. I like the change of pace that card flipping provides (I still like dice rolling too, but thats what DnD is for!) I like the cover system, voice this over and over, but i hate, hate giving an enemy cover just because I am in cover! Thank you for developing/using a mechanic that allows me to "duck" behind a wall and blow away those saps that walk towards me in the open, without assuming my models are so incompetent that they would shoot the wall right in front of them. I like skirmish size games. I like that the complexity of the game gives it so much replay-ability. I like the terrain rules, flinging things into lava will never get old. I like having alternative models to choose from for the same character, not every model appeals to every person but pop out two variants and everyone is happy, wow Wyrd, just wow...you guys really should write other companies and tell them because this idea is gold! I like that I got a free model to offset the cost of my gencon shipping, Seriously who does that? Mcdonalds doesn't give me free fries to compensate for the gas it took to drive there. and finally I greatly respect Wyrd for the maturity used to handle the occasional rabble rousing that pops up on the forums, for the focus used in consistently working to improve game mechanics and individual models, for the dedication used in staying true to thier mission of making unique high quality minatures and developing an amazing game system in which to utilize each one of them and for being one of the few companies that treats its clients like people and guests rather then a walking billfold.
  11. Law and order is good! so what if us guildies like to shoot first and answer questions later, atleast we still ask the questions
  12. not all models are have the 4 damage as a weak or mid, and since there is no duel to hit I don't believe you can call triggers (like crit strike) for the extra damage, so they should have to cheat to high damage to usually break them, or use a strong hitter's ap, it can also knock them out of position, so now they waste that shot killing a pillar instead of moving up and shooting at you.
  13. Love this Cover system, it allows you to be behind cover without giving the enemy cover from the wall you are using for cover That is a really neat idea! I will jump on the bandwagon of disliking faction to faction balance only because I am not sure if it is truley balanced or not, or what measure you can use for that. Lot of theoryfaux on it, but the possible combination of schemes/strats/ and minion choices makes it close to impossible to really prove if it is balanced or not; And the only measure I can really look at is how the tourny scene goes, which if you look at the top 10 placers of the larger tourneys out there, it doesn't support the idea that all the factions are balanced...or maybe that is just my perception of things <shrug>
