  1. Nexus, I don't care about the pretty standard clothing, but the exaggerated asian girl sleeves and s-curve pose are both pretty much straight out of pretty archaic (but anachronistic for the setting) stereotypes. And yeah, conscious response to pop culture camp isn't really the same as what, unless I'm completely not seeing the humor, seems to be a plain old caricature.
  2. How does your feeling about one thing invalidate how I should feel about another? I enjoy a lot of this game, and it frankly kinda' irritates me that I'm apparently doing it wrong when I say I don't like something. Wyrd just had a big ol' thread about inclusion and representation, I'm frankly a bit disappointed to hear that I should get out because of how I feel so shortly after that.
  3. Yeah... she can run, it's just that she'd really messy and there are a lot of poor choices- in that regard, she feels a lot like a 1e piece where you needed to filter out corner case options.
  4. Jordon, Sympathetic Echoes, yeah, stupid situational. but with it built in, her attack volume could make that really nasty. Hypothetical errata, I'd change it to a suit that isn't valuable to her. Yep. Glimpse is like a lame horror check. Think it was overestimated. Voiceless, yep, right again. Problem with those upgrade patches still taking a slot. Never use whispers since it's so demanding Oblit symbiote yes; KOE, not really- there are lots of ways of burying. And yeah, I feel her abilities could be slightly cheaper, especially as other things have started taking similar roles.
  5. Not to be over-sensitive, but does she look like a stereotype to anyone else, what with the cartoonish sleeves and posture? I mean, if she's some sort of pseudo-mimic and it's meant to be stylized/incorrect, wouldn't she have an exaggerated sensibility stylized like a japanese perspective (i.e. where they're culturally based, and how they interact with humanity etc.) on japanese women such as from a painting than a western one from a cartoon in the future?
  6. IDK, yeah, initiative isn't all that essential to her, unless you're taking the NB/wretches, and at that point you're probably already taking the positive initiative, which is way less situational.
  7. Smart list, Judge. Way to burn through your opponent's resources. Regarding cost, I feel like there are a few ressers with really wonky costs because of them being summonable- I think a few could even go so far as a passive cost reduction when hired or increase when summoned.
  8. And yeah, as mikey says, other sources. I'll only take her burying spell if I'm really strapped for points or trying something weird.
  9. Black85- 6 AP includes summoning as ressers or a lot of okay attacks, repositioning and then unburying and chain activating, and handing out AP like candy. karina is extremely strong for a 5ss summoner, but is fragile and resource demanding. She's a finesse piece, but a decent pistol on top of 12+SS of fully functional summons at a pretty good range and chain activating is fantastic. I'll take her any scenario that doesn't punish you for fragile models. Nothing beast is a finesse piece, but yeah, still a bit underpowered/poor return. Wretches are cheap scheme runners. Of course they're bad at attacking. The long version, point here
  10. Agreed with fetid, it's pretty hard to design around her huge (if not particularly special) high AP count. Peregrine, agreed on her basic form being okay once you understood it. But I disagree about Karina, it's difficult to play towards, but I've gotten some epic mileage out of it, and you can definitely get reliable mileage out of it, short of statistical anomalies or early kills (but that's a qualifier you can put on most abilities). Mikey, yeah, she's basically impossible to run as a resser campaign master. But, it's a design space that's already been spoken for. Then again, there are like a half-dozen ways of fielding wretches with her as ressers now, so I guess there's precedent for redundant rules.
  11. Shuffle around her abilities so fielding guys (at least wretches and the NB; maybe DMs) and friendly unbury are native. Tweak Glimpse the Void to be less restrictive. Make Karina's upgrade native. Generally fix Karina's useless/situational rules. But, that's not going to happen. Frankly, I think that Tara runs decently well, that she has all the tools to run well, that her risk-rewards are good as long as you understand that AP manipulation and friendly buries , and that any more additions are just one more bandaid to add to the tangle. So, if I had to say something, I'd go with a generic upgrade that improves void wretches such that I'd have incentive to take some as cheap front liners or something, since I end up never taking them for what seems to be their job, and instead run them for schemes and whatnot instead of their ineffective bury interactions. Don't think a summon's necessary since it's already on the avatar and tara doesn't need one more competing upgrade when she already relies on active unburying plus a model/upgrade with reliable burying, unless all you take her for is an AP battery.
  12. Huge improvement on those new bases. Spiky do-dads are so hard to get right, and I think they fit really smoothly. Regarding cohesion, I try to either stick to the same range of palate or the same material so there's some cohesive element: All of my bases as I've been moving forward on rebasing and touching up my collection are source lit or in the dark. I keep them metal, raw stone, or pavement for the most part, so most bases are some variation on grey which fits coherently enough regardless of theme. There are a few that are on wood, but I kept it a dull enough wood and with the same dark or sourcelit looks that it mostly fits. Finally, I have a few brick and swamp bases which are more colorful, but keeping the same tones makes them fit okay. They're the least connected, but the shadows and highlights being the same tones gets them pretty coherent. edit- oh, and thanks for the shout out, had just been skimming the pics. I think it's coming together on the lighting, but you'll want to exaggerate it pretty hard to get it to look intentional (that's generally my rule of thumb- if it can look unintentional, people won't get it or will think it was a mistake...) BTW, I found that tilting the dreamer's head maybe 5-10º forward makes him way more menacing, which would work well with your added height.
  13. Looks like you're missing close deployment (which would be forming the center square you're talking about, I think) and whatever the L shaped ones that go 9" in are called, and there are two circle widths at the center- one 6" from the middle, one 6" from a 30mm placed in the middle (so, basically 12 and 13+ inch diameters). I'm also not sure what those really shallow corner curves are for.
  14. Gremlins had noses in 1st edition, and they plus gracie were the only 1st edition plastics in the line (part of outcasts, back then), which I guess were close enough that they weren't redone in 2e plastics. Personally, I cut them off /shaved down noses from the metals I have since I think they look better without them.
  15. Ash, the big interaction is that he can attack buried guys. Fetid, yeah, I could kinda' buy that on the orderly set, but unless it's hidden in the fiction, I don't see where anything about anti-magic comes in to play. And I'd say the medical theme is a little more than that, since it's also very heavily the insane experiment variety, just not dead. And neither master really has any interactions with the set. Sonnia's can can protect them from magic for some reason; mcm's would have allowed a broader aesthetically coherent set to be added to ressers for a little cheaper. Neither have special condition shenanigans.
  16. Vors, love the mimic gaining another trait like that. It would be hard to work out, but pretty cool, I think. Ashlian, yeah, LJ sure needs something. Personally, I'd vote for flexibility- she used to be able to use that gun of hers, and I think even a decent other attack option could help. Marshals... they do have aionus now, but what I really think they need is a cheaper 4-5ss model that has a decent interaction or two with them. On those orderly type guys... yeah, I have zero idea why they didn't get into McM's theme. Or maybe Tormented, at that. It's just confusing. How've you been doing with her emissary? That seems like it would add some strong options in the range you're talking about.
  17. Karina also lets tara take the void guys. IIRC toshiro doesn't allow you to hire komainu, just summon them? Hamelin can always field a malifaux child since it's already native faction. And a merc.
  18. So, any of the three versions, slight preference towards the plastic ones. Or, if you have similarly scaled other ones, that could do. Just looking for the wings, though I'd take a whole copy. I could do cash or a trade, if LE, I'm not looking to spend much for it, sorry.
  19. Yeah, past 7-8, you need to be summoning/have something improving your little guys since the drop off in quality needs some sort of support or you'll just be whiffing a lot, in many cases.
  20. asterisks are higher priority, and I just updated the list slightly Thanks for checking, forgot to write that down
  21. They're not so much bad as they are often less useful than they seem on paper, which sometimes means overpriced.
  22. Yeah, incorporeal models have low enough health that it's more they have vulnerabilities to... ...common odd conventional damage (1, 3 both don't suffer heavily; by the time you're up to 5 you're threatening a lot of incorporeal things anyway) ...spells ...blasts ...conditions ...pulses It's easier to list what they're actually solid against, which is even (or possibly high) damage conventional attacks. I think a lot of them (certainly not all) have too little health because the value of incorporeal was overestimated.
  23. Heh, yeah, that's definitely a risk, but I feel like there's a difference between getting blindsided and then someone like Leveticus and the shock of his sheer damage output.
  24. Woah, weird. I never noticed that difference. Don't think I'd stop anyone from using it the other way, since that seems like an oversight...
