  4. It's been a while, but I thought these guys really came together (notes)
  5. And the classic opposition, with Lady Justice (and a few usual notes): (The Death marshals are just the set I use with Tara, above...)
  6. Yes, yes, and I don't know. I think two would have been much more reasonable.
  7. Okay, sorry if this has been covered, but which way is he going? His pose makes him seem like he should be launching backwards, but the smoke has him launching forwards, so, is he gonna' land on his ass, or what? OTOH, I certainly do like the rocketeer look.
  8. I don't think anything else has been given from his perspective, so I believe it's implied it's been a while. IDK, I haven't really kept very up to date on TTB or the Chronicles, but it's not in the main books.
  9. Coming from the perspective of a miniatures gamer who's quickly shifting more towards board games, my take on Lost Patrol's new edition.

Thanks, all! mgsanna, link at the end of the first line... Like I said, no idea. For some reason the sizes aren't even in order. I tried uploading the same one twice, resized and saved differently, and it was still all wiggy.

No idea why the pic keeps resizing from 1,000px wide :/. Full here. Not my favorite Kingdom Death sculpt, but I was happy with how the freehand/sourcelighting came out. The base is plaster cast from a sculpt I made, and the model's been slightly cut and converted so he sits evenly on it. ...And with that, got through IP w/o a DNF despite expectations to the contrary.
  12. Impressive, though I'd be interested to see what it looked like from other angles.
  13. Resurrectionists have Molly, who runs with belles and summons a wide variety of others, who I think is one of the better female characters with a pretty distinct theme. They also have Kirai (spirit summoner) and tara (time specialist and horror summoner under the right conditions, and my personal favorite) so actually the three ladies there have quite a bit of overlap, though there're not a ton of female models in the faction.
  14. 1- basically, yeah. Not everything's going to fit every scenario, but they're certainly not dregs. I think the minions have some very nice options in particular, and a sniper's a sniper. The other three aren't inspiring to me, but that doesn't mean they're a waste. 2- you don't really. They provide updates for 1st edition models and all the generic upgrade options. If you're only getting current models, then they'll come with correct cards, and you can either photocopy the generic upgrades from the book or get the deck that's all the generic upgrades.
  15. The digital equivalen of proxies-- Sebastian and a Nurse from ressers would be decent for the characters; IDK about the grunts.
  16. Sometimes I don't like things. Sometimes I express my dislike of things. Sometimes it's a matter of taste and sometimes I think it's a matter of the thing being bad. I think that bad things are lame, and shouldn't be tolerated. Hopefully none of those sentiments needs attacking. I'm really tired of defending what are apparently unpopular and easily misinterpreted opinions. I'm sorry, I quit.
  17. I wasn't talking about it being wrong to like the model, I was rejecting the sentiment of a given piece being subpar but good enough being actually good enough.
  18. So... lower your standards because other stuff is weaker, too? I just don't understand this model of thought. No, I don't think it's any sort of targeted attack, but just one more miss that happens to stumble into some problems. And I'm pointing it out because I think it could be done better. Instead of saying "lower your standards to the worst in the line" I'd prefer to say "raise your standards to the highest in the line." Every time a consumer says "meh, that thing's lazy or bad but I'll still buy it" is an incentive for a company to make more lazy things instead of trying to keep the bar higher.
  19. If we're wishlisting who needs a free soulstone for their overpriced suit-based rule, shouldn't Lucius get first dibs?
  20. On the alternate totem, yeah, if every master/many had one, that could be cool as a nice patch to some of the ones that didn't work right. Not really a fan of that concept except one part- a totem that actively interacted with burying should have been a thing for her, and Karina just can't do it, she's got a nice summon now, but that's not the same as a cheap source of another model with a bury (or unbury) action, which would have meshed far better than some highly situational stuff plus a gun and fragile stat line.
  21. tom, thanks! Kuro, because it's just some random person's interpretation of it, nothing traditional there. It's a poor copy of some famous images that, like my complaints with the model, suffers from a very superficial understanding of the aesthetic. A translation isn't as good as the original, especially if the original is still accessible. Didn't say anything about sex that I remember, and on the sleeves that's a fair point, I guess it just stood out as part of one more stereotype in collection of them that made the caricature.
  22. That's a really obviously modern illustration, so is not a good reference piece. The hair is not my taste, but not a problem with the concept. The wide, heavily lidded eyes is just shy of yellow-face taped eyelid-style stereotype, based on chinese stereotypes and facial structures, not japanese. If going for a japanese-styled mimic of the aesthetics rather than reality, you'd see one with shallow features and extremely high/faint eyebrows, the airbrushed look. An exaggeratedly tall/oblong face with features that are too small wouldn't be out of the question, while a squished one with large features is probably unheard of. The extreme forward hunch is also linked closely with western caricatures (of propagandized/parodied subhuman asians). The style of the time would be droopy/natural shoulders or exaggeratedly pointy ones. A downward tilt to the head and or exaggerated emphasis on the shoulders and collar, emphasizing the neck, is pretty common with representations of women. Those sleeves... they're just made out of problems. Yes, asian fashions often had crazy sleeves, but no, they looked nothing like that. Kirai's triangular and layered ones are pretty reasonable examples. I don't think I've ever seen anyone outside a racist stereotype wear ones like those, though. I think the hooks are ridiculous, but that's just taste.
  23. That's fair. I think some of them are okay, I think a few of them cross the line, and this is one that I think fits squarely in the latter camp.
