  1. Just find an equivalent type. There are other brands of that type of plastic weld glue. You should be able to find them in a model store along with the rest of the tools.
  2. To follow up on this point, do not purchase any of your hobby tools from game stores (other than paint). I especially recommend that you do not buy hobby tools that are sold by a game company - such as Games Workshop, Privateer Press, Gale Force 9, etc. Those tools are heavily marked up from generic tools and they are no better. Instead, I suggest you go to a hobby store that sells scale models - such as Cars, Planes, Trains, etc. Those stores will usually have the best selection of hobby tools and they are generally the cheapest (other than shopping online). In addition, the staff in those stores should be very knowledgeable about how to clean up and assemble plastic model kits. There is really not much difference between a model car kit and Wyrd's malifaux model kits. At the bare minimum you will want a hobby knife (just pick up an Xacto blade as they are by far the easiest to get replacements blades for), a sprue cutter (you can just use the hobby knife instead, but these make things much easier), a set of needle files (I recommend you find the really tiny micro-files), and some sort of glue. For glue you can use either super-glue or some form of plastic weld cement. I highly recommend the thin liquid variety of plastic weld glue. But if you go with the plastic weld glue then make sure the label says it will work on ABS plastic (not all of them do). This is the glue that I have found to work best for plastic models: http://www.amazon.com/Plastruct-Plastic-Weld-applicator/dp/B00FDFWJD8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1434484563&sr=8-1&keywords=plastruct+plastic+weld&pebp=1434484566602&perid=0S8AWQ5JMZ9X7WCR726K
  3. If I am thinking of the right artwork from the recent chronicle, I have to say that I really like the artwork and I am more excited for this entry to the "Miss" series than most of the previous ones. I really like the idea of a female Wastrel and have wanted one for my McCabe crew for a little while. And as soon as I saw that artwork I thought it was something for the RPG and not for a mini. My first thought was that it is a shame that was not artwork for a Malifaux model. Now that I know it is I am quite excited for it.
  4. Well, you just stole all of my money for August. Wong, Jack Daw, and the Dark Carnivale - plus probably a new book and some other nonsense I won't be able to not purchase...
  5. I was browsing through Crossroads again the other day and I noticed that an awful lot of the masters in that book are on the low-end of health. A number of them only have 10 health, which I thought was rather low. Now, I think most of the lower health masters have a good number of defensive tricks to mitigate damage. But my point is that there are more potentially vulnerable masters in the book than I originally thought. I don't know what that does for Mah's potential, but it is worth considering. Personally, after reading her rules I am not sure what her exact focus is other than being the melee beatstick master for the faction, but she did not stand out to me as being bad either. I do think her theme of the strict disciplinary mom beating whipper-snappers with a wooden spoon is rather fun. I think we will see the overall opinion of her improve once her crew box releases and more people start to play her.
  6. I think a more abstract way of answering "what is the gremlin playstyle" is to identify what it is that the overall faction tends to do better than anyone else and what resources they tend to utilize the most. My answer to that would be that what the gremlins tend to have more of than anyone else is AP. Most of the gremlins in the game have some form of the reckless ability to give them an extra AP in a turn. I think the only basic gremlins that do not have it are the Moon Shinobi and the Bushwhackers. In addition, gremlins lean towards the cheaper side of model costs. This is a nice recipe for having more models than most opponents and also having more AP per model. This even applies to pig-oriented crews since although the pigs don't have reckless they have access to a lot of reactivate and almost every pig has the ability to make charges for only a single AP - which means that pigs can effectively generate a lot of AP as well. In addition, some gremlin crews can also summon more gremlins or pigs into the game. You should rarely be out-activated as a gremlin player. Even when you bring more elite crews you should still end up fairly even in terms of AP with most opponents. As for what resources does the faction tend to use - I would say that the gremlins utilize health as a resource. Some factions make use of more traditional resources such as scrap or corpses, but the gremlins really do treat health like a resource. The gremlins have a lot of abilities that basically trade health for some sort of benefit, such as increased AP with reckless or increased damage with dumb luck. Gremlins also have easy access to a large amount of healing and so that allows them to more willingly spend their health on things since it is not hard for them to gain that health back. And since many of the models are quite cheap they are also fairly expendable.
  7. This is one of the best Kirai crews I have seen. Kudos.
  8. As mentioned before, the playstyle differs quite a bit from master to master. The main common theme the gremlins have is a tendency towards silliness (more than usual in this game) and the ability to damage your own crew for some form of benefit. The self-damage does not always mean you are killing your own things for benefit, although depending on the crew that can be a beneficial strategy. In addition to a tendency for self-damage the Gremlins also have more easy access to healing than many other factions. The key is often to balance the self-inflicted damage with benefit it gives you. I find that sacrificing your own models for gain is a common theme across the entire game, and not just the Gremlin factions, but the gremlins can be a bit more overt about it. That said, it all depends on the master. For example, I find that Ophelia does not usually throw away the other kin models lightly. If you are running the traditional Ophelia kin crew, then your crew tends to consist mainly of above-average cost enforcers and less throw away models. Your cheap models in that crew will often be scheme runners and so you don't want to dump them lightly. The kin all have the ability to do extreme damage via some form of dumb-luck, but you don't always want to use it unless it is in your favor or you will survive and can heal the damage you take from the ability. On the opposite end of the spectrum is a traditional Bayou Gremlin Som'er crew. That crew will mainly consist of lots of Bayou Gremlins and it is common to sacrifice them for whatever it is you want to do. In this case it is not a big deal to sacrifice them since Som'er reliably summons more gremlins to the party. But even Som'er does not need to throw his crew away since he has abilities that give him great control over the usually random Bayou Gremlins by either suppressing their mandatory triggers or guaranteeing specific ones. So again, the playstyle really depends on the masters you are interested in, and even then there are a few ways to play.
  9. Gracie heals herself better than Slop Haulers generally do. Between take a bite and eat your fill she tends to sit at full wounds most of the time by the end of her activation. She may "only" have 8 wounds, but she has a ton of self-healing tricks, armor-2, and hard to kill. If you do not have the ability to ignore armor she is often not worth the effort to try to kill as it is very tough to do. Gracie is not simply an old junk-laden sow she is a porcine force of nature.
  10. The silent one is the first model that I have found disappointing in quite a while. There is nothing wrong with the sculpt, but I really detest having duplicately posed models and this is in the same position as the metal model. I was hoping for a collection of differently posed models.
  11. Lets see what you come up with for some more esoteric choices. I will use my favorite games when I was a kid. I remember when the Nintendo Entertainment System came out - I was 7. I was not able to convince my parents to get me one until 1987. When I did, my Dad took me to Toys R Us and gave me the choice of either purchasing the set that came with Super Mario + Duck Hunt, or the set that had no games and I could choose 2 games. I chose the basic box and then wandered around for a while before finally settling on Metroid and Mega Man 1. Those 2 games blew my mind. Mega Man was the first game I can ever remember where the levels were not presented in chronological order. In that game you chose the order that you fought the first 6 robot master levels. When you defeated each boss you received the ability to use their weapon, and the game really rewarded you for finding more optimal paths through the games as you could find secrets using the weapons in different levels and bosses all were weak to certain weapons. I remember playing through the game repeatedly to try using different weapons on different bosses and trying to see what the best pattern would be. Eventually, Mega Man became one of my favorite game characters of all time (I just dumped a stupid amount into the Mega Man Board Game Kickstarter) and I got most of the games (although I never played the 3d ones that were on the Playstation). Metroid was also completely different from other games at the time. The game simply dumped you into a massive world with no levels and said "go forth and explore". It had no clues or hints, and the game was a very creepy and lonely experience. However, it was absurdly full of secrets. Like with Mega Man you gained items and weapons that allowed you to access other areas and the game required you to explore and backtrack constantly. I spent untold hours with that game, and Metroid is probably my overall favorite video game series ever made (although I do really love Zelda as well). In an era where most games are now played through once and then discarded, I find that I can pick up and replay just about any Metroid game and it is just as fun as when I first played them. I really love the puzzle aspect of the game which gives you few hints and requires you to think your way through the problems. I could give you a big list of games I have played and enjoyed since that time, but those are the 2 games that truly got me hooked on playing video games many moons ago and I still love them. I am curious to see what connection you can make from those to Malifaux.
  12. I am ok with a bit of incorrect scale in this game as long as the models are somewhat close to what they are supposed to be and fit well on their bases. At least Wyrd keeps the models from being way too large for their base. Privateer Press has a horrible habit of making all of their models way too large for their bases. You end up with models that overhang their bases quite a bit in a game which requires very close and precise placement of models and so you see people turning their model backwards or using blank bases to proxy the position of things since the models won't let you physically place them where the game requires them to be. That bothers me way more than height 1 models that look more like height 2.
  13. I was reading back through Crossroads today, and there was a lot more interesting possible 10T synergies than I remember on the last read-through. The Fermented River monks are the obvious ones, and they look quite brutal, but there are some others I never noticed before such as Sensei Yu, Yin, etc. You could build a very interesting crew that emphasizes the willpower reduction angle that the Brewmaster has.
  14. Got mine in the mail the other day from the Warstore. So happy! I especially enjoy Apprentice Wesley, as my son is named Wesley. I think I will start referring to him as Apprentice Wesley.
  15. Honey Pot also happens to be a commonly used term for portable toilets, especially those used in the military such as the ones installed on old aircraft which were not equipped with lavatories (such as the still heavily used C-130).
  16. I don't view it as gimmicky, but I can see how someone might think that. I think it is more of an obvious conversion than a gimmicky one. You won't get major originality points for it, like with other interesting conversions. Pretty much everyone is going to think of it. I think of it more as drilling out barrels on guns on minis. It is an obvious conversion and absurdly easy to do, but it does greatly enhance the end result despite how simple it is. In her book artwork, where she is in pose for the nightmare box set, the hole is depicted as being quite large and the artist emphasizes that you can see through the hole to the other side. I think the miniature is better when it duplicates that emphasis. It also allows you to paint some fun gore effects on the inside of the hole. I think your crew looks great, and you don't need to drill out the hole in her chest, but I stand by the opinion that it would improve the look of the model.
  17. I think that the Wong box will end up being him, Lovely Assistant, Mancha Roja, 3 Lightning Bugs. I really think they are going to keep Burt and Gracie to their own boxes, or possibly combine those 2 into a single box sorta like the Nephilim box. I don't think they fit the side-show carnival theme that Wong has anymore while Roja does. I think your Ulix box is spot on though.
  18. Did you drill out the hole in her chest? It does not look like it, but I would suggest doing so. It enhances the look of the model a lot more in my opinion and it is absurdly easy to do.
  19. What glue works on it? I have been meaning to pick up some of this terrain, as I like the way it looks and I really want to add walkways to my terrain for a 3rd dimension in gameplay. But until now I never noticed that it was a pvc foamcore and I thought it was etched plasticard. I am guessing that plastic-weld glues won't work on this.
  20. I think a big part of this stems from the fact that her models have not been released. The Gremlin faction has got the most unreleased models of any faction since they used to be a small part of the Outcasts and not a full fledged faction. I think this leads to less overall proxying of the unreleased models. Most other factions only have 1-2 new masters in them from what existed in mk1, so there are still a lot of players with metal crews for the masters that have not been recast in M2E plastics. While Mah does not seem to be the most popular caster on these forums, I think she will see a lot more play once her box set is released. I know that I will be playing her some as I like her theme.
  21. Roja is in her box? I figured that the henchman in her box would be Trixie and that Roja fit more in line with Wong's travelling sideshow theme. Looking through the Crossroads book I cannot see any obvious enforcers or henchmen for Wong's crew. Roja seemed the closest thing with Wong's new sideshow theme.
  22. I really like the original Snow Storm model. I am rather upset that I now have to replace it! This new model is fantastic.
  23. Added my location. I cannot believe that I am the only one in Boise that has posted on the map.
  24. I am really impressed by this. I think it is a great new look that retains most of the interesting design elements from the original.
