  1. Has anyone else not received a notice about their order at all? I realize that it takes some time to get the mass amount of special holiday orders processed, but it is starting to get to the point where I figured I should ask.
  2. As a player of both Gremlins and Ten Thunders I am all over these guys. I have been looking forward to these guys and I do not feel disappointed by the looks. Great job on these models!
  3. So, in the link you presented you mention that Aionus being in PVC is just a one-off thing and not a test for moving the rest of the range into PVC. If that is indeed the case then I will most likely purchase Aionus. I had originally decided to boycott him simply due to my complete and utter hatred of that material. I no longer give Privateer Press any of my money, mainly because of their heavy use of that material, and despite how much I love Malifaux I would probably make the same choice if Wyrd moved to that material. I do a whole lot of modeling, converting, and scratch-building of miniatures and I have learned how to work with that material, but it turns what is normally something I do for fun into a massive chore that is very unpleasant. I hate PVC to the core of my being. I can understand the choice for special edition models made in short time frames and limited runs. In those cases it makes sense to use a lower cost material. I still don't care for stuffing the henchmen behind very high payment levels. I think it would have been better to simply sell those guys individually at an increased cost. But it does not affect me too much since I have most of the plastics and don't need those guys. The only special model I was interested in was Dr. Dufrense - but I think she might be a bit too expensive for me given other expenses in the holiday season.
  4. So what is the deal with a PVC model? I like the render for the model, and I will probably pick him up, but PVC is hands down the worst material to work with from a modeling standpoint. It is acceptable for board games, but terrible for miniature games. I was happy that Privateer Press finally realized that PVC was a big quality albatross hanging around their neck and started exploring using better plastics and I always held Wyrd's choice of plastic and high quality as a huge plus for Malifaux. I just don't want to see this game go down the route of swapping the range into PVC. I have build hundreds of PVC models from various companies and I have nothing positive to say about working with that material.
  5. I like the Translucent options, as those are both crews that I wanted a translucent option for and have yet to purchase. I also am really happy that the Coryphee was added to the thematic Dark Carnival set. The alternate sculpts are all nice looking, but the $300 price level is a bit too rich for my blood. I think it sucks that Barbaros is stuck at the $300 level. I know a number of people who have the metal sets and really want Barbaros, but that is a bit much to spend for it I think. He seems like something that should fit in better at the first tier. I am mostly interested in Dr. Dufrense, but I think the $300 level is a bit too rich for me with the holidays here. I regularly hit that during the summer sales, but I have to be more selective at this time of year since 3 of my kids have birthdays in late-Nov/December and then there is christmas. Maybe I can find someone locally who wants Barbaros and we can combine our orders...
  6. This guy is really disgusting. And yet I am oddly intrigued.
  7. I want to see the Shadow Emissary in translucent smoke-colored plastic.
  8. I agree. A translucent set of Wong would be good...I would like a deep blue or purple colour. Just in case, Wong will be the last gremlins I will assemble (it will probably take me to BF to get that far) so I can always sell on the regular kit if that becomes a reality! You want a War Sheep. Don't lie. I would probably buy that.
  9. Even though I just bought Wong's explosive solutions set, I would buy it again if they made a translucent set. With the giant magic effects on the Lightning Bugs I think a translucent set would work really well. I would also be interested in a translucent Yan Lo or Lynch set.
  10. I like the model. I am not sure about the pillar though. I have no issue with how the pillar looks, but I have a city-streets theme for most of my models and Ressers. I do have some models on ruins though, so I could incorporate this into that theme without too many issues I think. I hope that at least one of them is on the ground though.
  11. Yes it is. If you look back through the last few pages of this thread there are a few more (including a nice shot from above that shows them all). You may be able to see the glossy shine on those. Once the model gets sealed I'll go back over that spot with gloss and take better pictures to post. I figured that it might have been the picture, or the model had not been sealed yet. A gloss coat over the top of something that is supposed to look like water seems like something too obvious to miss.
  12. Is the patch of ground next to the cobbles supposed to be a top-down view into a Koi pond? If so it looks really good, but I think you should put a coat of gloss varnish over the top of it.
  13. I was not really a fan of the white and green color palette you chose for most of the Ten Thunders, I think the execution was fantastic, I was just not a fan of the color choice. But that Ama No Zako is truly fantastic. That color scheme REALLY works great for that model and you really hit it out of the park on that one.
  14. The downside of starting Outcasts because you like Von Schill, Tara, and Misaki is that over time you will gradually lose your ability to resist picking up Leveticus & Hamelin. You start out with good intentions to avoid them and then they insidiously call to you and you eventually succumb. They are like the Dark Side in that regard. You will also probably find it hard to avoid picking up the Viktorias (who are awesome) as the models in their box set work really really well with Misaki.
  15. I think all the info that you want is either on this forum or on the pullmyfinger wiki.
  16. I prefer to take away their hope, their chances of victory and their last remaining models. In that order. All I care about is victory. Oh, and hooch. And shine too. Oh, and also piggies - I like them too....
  17. The Slop Hauler is one of the most fantastic models that Gremlins have access to. He can really do a huge amount of stuff. However, one thing to remember that his Feed the Piggies action only has a range of 3", takes 2 ap, and he only has a walk of 4. So he can only heal a model that is within 7" of him at the start of his activation. He also generally needs to use reckless to get enough AP to reach a target. Usually it is not terribly easy to keep targets in range of a Slop Hauler without a lot of planning and clumping up. It also makes it difficult to keep a Slop Hauler completely safe and out of sight since he has to be close to heal his targets. If he is doing much more than holding a Slop Hauler in the rear to heal up for a summoning machine then you should have an opportunity to kill the little guy. Gremlins are a very good faction, and Som'er is probably the most versatile master in that faction. There is no scheme or strategy that he and his crew are not good at. So naturally it is going to be a difficult proposition to face an experienced player who is good at the game and is piloting a Som'er crew. But Gremlins are also not unbeatable. Bayou Gremlins are the primary scheme runners and they die to a stiff breeze. Also remember that Drunk & Reckless inflicts 2 points of damage on a Bayou Gremlin - which means they can only use the ability once before killing themselves unless they get healing. If they are out running schemes they will generally not be using that ability very much. Target them and kill them whenever you can.
  18. I am going to agree that it is an all round useful model and that the debuff can be great. But you did things wrong with the Guardian. The Def debuff does give him a condition which reduces his Df to 4 and it ignores all bonuses to it, but Power Loop, the ability that shares the stats says the Printed Value *To keep someone from buffing it to 8 thanks to Francisco*. So regardless of you throwing mud on the Guardian and knock his defense down to 4, the rest of the crew still has Df6. Fair enough, but the main key model I killed first was the Guardian himself, which broke the power-loop chain.
  19. My local store in Boise has a lot of the metals in stock - both blisters and crew boxes.
  20. Their ability to debuff defense can be very powerful and is often overlooked as well. Just the other day I played against a C.Hoffman crew and at first the crew's ability to share stats made attacking them tough as they had easy access to def-6 from the Guardian. But then I was to get my Slop Hauler to beat the Guardian in the head with his bucket and drop the Guardian's def to 4. I was then able to pick out a number of key models quite easily and swing things greatly in my favor. Slop Haulers are simply all-around useful models.
  21. It is also worth mentioning that the Henchman that comes in her box set, Bad Juju, is really rather poor when played in a Gremlin list. When Zoraida plays as a gremlin master and brings him along with her he loses access to his personal upgrade that allows him to keep cheating death since that upgrade is Neverborn only. But that said, she can work very well with just about any of the Gremlin henchmen.
  22. Down the road I would say yes. She is a very good master and is fairly unique to the game. She can work pretty good in gremlins as well since Gremlins have a fair amount of self-sufficient models. But I would not start with her since she is nothing like any of the Gremlin master's and a bit of a departure from what the rest of the faction as a whole does.
  23. Those are all great. But for me the standout model is Apprentice Wesley. Not sure what it is about him, but he is just executed so well. I also love the touch where you painted Burt's shirt like Kurt Russel's from Big Trouble in Little China (which makes sense since it is the inspiration for Burt). It really fits the model so well. I may give that a go when I get around to painting him.
  24. Holy history books batman! Bushwhacker 1 is a cool model, but good lord that is a lot of parts.
  25. I love the pig playstyle, but for just getting into the faction I would probably pick up either Som'er and a box of Slop Haulers and an extra box of Bayou gremlins, or I would buy the Som'er box and the Ophelia box. Those two crew boxes are fairly good at complimenting each other. If you go for the first option you have a great Som'er bayou gremlin summoning crew, and a lot of those models will find their way into other crew boxes you buy later on. However, you will have more bayou gremlins than you will run outside of the Som'er summon list (which is an awesome list). If you go for the second option and buy the Som'er and Ophelia boxes then you have two good crews with a lot of interchangeable models. Som'er does not need to run a summon-oriented crew and you can instead run him up front as a boss that controls/guarantees triggers for his crew and messes with the enemy. Ophelia is a great master and Lenny and the Bayou Gremlins easily slide right into her list. The downside is that you will most likely still want to get the slop haulers for just about any crew and you will want more Bayous for Som'er. But I think those are the 2 best ways to get into the Gremlin faction.
