  1. Hello all,

Was teaching a friend of mine to play Malifaux yesterday and he was using my Nicodem crew. He picked the game up fast, but raised a question that I don't know the answer to for sure.

Can Mortimer's "Zombie Companion" be used to activate a model that has already been activated in that turn?

  2. My wife and I, noobs, are trying to figure something out here.

Santiago Ortega's "Is That All You Got?" affects his Peacebringer Strikes. Is it safe to assume that doesn't include the "Peacebringer Blade" strikes?

Following that logic, does it also follow that the Weapon, Peacebringer: Paired rule doesn't apply to the Peacebringer Blade?

Same question applies to Rapid Fire, Critical Strike and Trigger Happy.

My impression is that since the weapons are listed separately on the front of the card, none of these apply to Peacebringer Blade, but we just want to be certain.

(I searched for this and didn't find anything, so hopefully it isn't just a case of weak search-fu on my part.)

  3. Careful going over it, I had some 'cheap' snow flock and it basicly turned into a paste with just the pva used to stick it to the base.. lovely tho, always nice to see a raspy crew :)

Ah, thanks for the warning. Maybe I should just leave well enough alone and apply that to the next batch...

The edges of your bases are pretty cool.

Thanks! That's the part I like best since these aren't exactly the most colorful subjects.

  4. Hey all,

I've seen a bit of discussion about tactics that combine Kaeris and Rasputina, but from what I understand in the rules, that isn't possible. Am I missing something?

    What I mean:

In the Rules Manual, pg 71 it says:

In a Brawl, the player must choose one or two eligible Masters as the Crew's leaders.

Ok, so Kaeris can't be a leader in a Brawl. No teaming up with Raspy that way.

Under the Henchmen section, in the part describing how a Master can hire a henchman in a crew, it says:

These Henchmen must belong to the same Special Forces group.

Does that mean same Special Forces group as the Master? If so... Kaeris has Special Forces(M&SU Asset). Does that mean she can only be hired by a Master who also has (M&SU Asset)? if so, then doesn't that suggest she can only be hired by Colette or Ramos? (who both are M&SU Members)

Or am I misunderstanding the part about being in the same Special Forces group?

  5. Which can be useful if you're now forcing your opponent to choose between dealing with the Silent Ones and your pillars.

Alternatively, it's a way to use the broken pillars to force opponents to cross severe terrain if they're trying to engage Raspy in melee.

  6. You know, I've noticed a tendency for that to happen. (Not just in Malifaux, but in every wargame I've played.) "Cheese" usually means "unexpected" as if people expect their opponents to play within the bounds of their own assumptions...

... which means I deal with that a lot because my personal strategy is to think out of the box and do exactly that which is unexpected.

  7. (And no, they don't disappear....and they stay as severe terrain once broken.)

Thanks. What about if they're not broken. My understanding is that they do remain?

Edit: Nevermind, I found the answer here.

Initially the thought of doing it did occur to me before I saw that thread, but I wasn't confident enough in my understanding of the rules to try it. I guess I should've ;)

  8. I was reading this thread and while the legality of the act seems to have been confirmed, a lot of folks feel this is a douche thing to do.

    My question: Why?

Raspy seems to be generally regarded as a weaker Master in the game and the ability to block objective markers by dropping Ice Pillars directly on top of them would give her a significant trick to improve her overall usefulness. What makes this move such a douche trick? The Pillars are breakable so it's not like it totally screws the opponent.

(As far as I know they don't disappear at the end of the turn, correct?)

Forgive me if the answer should be obvious. I'm relatively new to Malifaux and it seems like sneaky combinations and thinking out of the box are the way the game is played.

  9. Whilst you might not use the Vics themselves in your other crews (soem areas seem to avoid brawls others love them depends on who you play i guess), the models that come with them are fairly useful. Johan sees much more use for me in Arcanist crews than he ever has in Outcast. Taelor is a good big hitter and Bishop is very versitile (although some think he is too expensive for his versitility).

Yeah unfortunately I bought the individual blisters, not the starter box. My thinking was that I'd buy the starter box for whatever faction I settle on.

Unfortunately for me, my wife has Lady Justice... so if I go ahead with the Resurrectionists I'm going to have a tough time against her...

  10. Ah, thanks very much for the clarification and for pointing out the PDF. I appreciate your patience :)

I picked up the Viktorias yesterday because my decision on what faction to play is in a 3 way tie between Outcasts, Arcanists and Resurrectionists, and I'm leaning toward Resurrectionists but figured the Viktorias would be a safe bet in any case since they're usable anywhere in a big enough crew.

  11. OK thank you. I don't have my book with me and I'm sure my next question is probably on that same page, but I understand also that one can include models from other non-merc factions by paying twice the SS cost. Is that so? And how would that work with Masters, who don't have a SS cost per se?

  12. Hey guys,

As I understand it, you can mix mercenary models into your crews. My understanding is that includes masters.

My question: Is there any reason I couldn't have, say, the Viktorias running a Resurrectionist crew? (Assuming there were some tactical advantage to doing it?)
