  1. For the Steamer Trunk I am just going to make one out of a small tank base. A flames of war AFV should provide a suitable starting point.
  2. April the 5th is Tabletop Day and all gamers who self-identify by that tag should take it upon themselves to play as many tabletop games as they can! But where can I game I hear you cry? Why at Shepparton Miniature Gamers the premiere gaming club of the Greater Shepparton Shire! In addition to the multiple boardgames, cardgames and tabletop miniature games, yours truly will once again be demonstrating that awesome skirmish game of tactics and stratagems that is Malifaux 2.0. Tabletop day at SMG will kick off at 12pm so be there or be a cubical object! Shepparton Miniatures Club in held every Saturday starting at 12pm until 9pm at the Southside Community House on 11 Service Street Shepparton. Parking is available on the street and we are within walking distance of several fast food franchises so there is no need to bring a cut lunch, unless you want to.
  3. Ha! Ok thanks for the advice, I was worried that Leveticus as a resser wasn't viable anymore.
  4. I was listening to Cheated Fates as they were discussing Leveticus and the opinion was that he wants to run constructs over undead. Having looked through his crew it seems that Leveticus only wants scrap tokens to make abominations and that you could just give Rusty Alyce the upgrade From the Aether to make the scrap tokens. So there is no need to take Pariah of Iron over Pariah of Bone. This seems like a preferable route as I have amassed a substantial number of Resurrectionist zombies. If I am going to stick with Leveticus drawing from the Resurrectionist and Outcast factions is there any combinations that I am missing out on that are worth considering? Also is four Abominations enough for a Leveticus crew, or should I be making more to wait in the wings for a summon if not field in the starting line up?
  5. The Shepparton Miniatures Club will be holding a terrain maintenance event on the 29th, the last Saturday in march. Beginning at 12pm and running until 2pm we will be patching and modifying terrain as it has been getting a bit shabby and some of the terrain needs to be cut down to make it more usable in the smaller skirmish type games such as Malifaux. Non-members are welcome to attend and if you help out we will shout you a soft drink Normal gaming will be taking place after the event has been concluded including using some of the newly modified terrain in games of Malifaux. Shepparton Miniature Gamers is the premier gaming club of the Greater Shepparton Shire and is located at the Southside Community Center at 11 Service St. Shepparton.
  6. This is a pretty thorough article on ethnic skin tones - coolminiornot. Here is a link to a painting style I like to use for painting faces- link. Here is some examples I painted earlier-
  7. I think the best way is to start with small games, like 25ss and ignore the crew construction rules, take a master regardless of the SS total. Ignore the Strategy and scheme flips, select a strategy you think would be fun to play and likewise with only one scheme. Concentrate on the rest of the rules like the duels and how terrain interacts with your models until you feel confident about them.
  8. I will be starting a demo at 2pm on Saturday at Shepparton Miniature Gamers. In order to keep the demonstration simple I will be selecting the strategy beforehand and limiting the scheme to one, likely the default. To get people use to the idea of placing scheme markers. The crews will be about 25ss but will each have a master, this master will also have only one upgrade. This is to demonstrate the versatility of the master and the upgrade system in a simplified setting. 9. Sounds great, if you want to hold a tournamnet I am sure I can persuade a few guys from Shepparton to attend it.
  10. With the metal punk zombies I've bent the arms about so that the swords are touching the body in places. With the brit punk I've got the swords crossing behind him for an extra contact point.
  11. My company level games are Warhammer Fantasy and 40K and I've no interest in getting a new game. While Games Workshop market share has been chipped away by various skimish level games such as Malifaux, Infinity and Warmachine (though that is more platoon level). I have yet to see a fantasy or sci-fi army scale game have the same success as the twin flagships of GW. Even companies like Mantic Miniatures are in reality just a 3rd party source of miniatures for those two systems. But hey, all power to Wyrd if they can pull this off. They will need to have a solid ruleset though to do it. Nice looking miniatures will only go so far.
  12. On the Saturday the 8th of March I will be holding a hobby session for people interested. I will be bringing my paints to the club and setting up a hobby station to the side where I will be demonstrating some simple techniques to paint miniatures to a tabletop quality and higher and fielding questions and dispening advice as it is asked for. This event will be at the Shepparton Miniature Gamers on 11 Service Street, Shepparton. VIC. The event will kick off at 1pm and will continue as long as needed. Dress is very casual and there is parking available on the steet.
  13. Now that I've finally got my hands on the new rulebook and some arsenal decks I am annoucing a casual demo day this Saturday (Feb 15th) at the Shepparton Miniature Gamers club. This will be an oppertunity for new and old players to familiarise themselves with the changes to rules. If you live in country Victoria and don't know where you can get a game of Malifaux then despair no longer. You will always find a game at the Shepparton Miniatures Gaming club. We meet every Saturday from 1pm to 9pm at 11 Service st. Shepparton. Dress is casual with ample parking on the street.
  14. So I've thought of an idea for the my metal Misaki since she is a master now and no longer works for anyone but herself. I've given her a face mask and she is going to be an Oiran in my Viks crew, assuming I can still take an Oiran in that crew, can't seem to find the Oiran card anywhere.
  15. As a point of interest the style of dress can have a different meaning other than eye candy. The time period is supposed to be Victorian/ turn of the century and dress that time was pretty conservative. By dressing in this provocative manner they are challenging the male domination. Though to be perfectly honest I don't think the meaning of the miniatures is at all that deep
  16. Here is a good guide I use alot, it works better on heroic scale faces though than the tiny faces you get on Wyrd plastics. Painting Faces. Here is a Games Workshop Masterclass. What it boils down to is that you start with a base colour, add a darker wash and then highlight twice.
  17. So I havn't been playing any Malifaux lately, I am waiting for the new book so I don't have to flip through reams of paper looking for page @@ every time a rules question pops up. That said I am looking forward to the new version, vulnerable, customizable Masters is a great change. At any rate I painted up a load of Ogres for a Warhammer tournie and so to shift gears I decided to paint some models for a mate and fellow Malifaux aficionado. The NMM was his choice, not mine, hence the conundrum. NMM is not my strongpoint and I'd much rather use pure metallics or "realistic" metal which is metal base colour that is shaded with a normal colour like a dark blue or grey and so on. But the customer gets what the customer wants and I don't think I disgraced myself too badly. I am particularly happy with the light sourcing on Lazarus and Vanessa and the Strongarm's NMM has worked out fairly well, though it could have been a bit darker in the shadow.
  18. I've always assumed its at the Wyrd-Miniatures office.
  19. His minions? I know the model is getting a new sculpt, but that would be a radical change.
  20. No I agree, I think the Oiran are quite shallow too, so much so that the folds in the robes pretty much nonexistent in some places so you have to paint them back in. The faces are pretty much porcelain masks they lack any sort of expression. On the other hand the McCabe box is pretty good, except for Luna who looks terrible and the stupid fragile whip.
  21. Maybe they will do a limited run of henchman totems in metal, or perhaps they will just use the unwanted totems. New totem! WORKS WITH EVERYONE! Yep its the Malifaux child.
  22. They aren't useless at all, they have some great fluff. Otherwise why would you want to buy them hmmm?
  23. I think that is a design choice. Chinese armour tends to look more like plate albeit quite ornate, whereas japanese armour has a distinct look to it.
  24. Alright! I am really liking the second one, more colour, but still understated, its perfect.
  25. I would have given that wastrel a white or silver brocade vest, but the blue is nice.
