  1. I will be taking Jacob Lynch as 10 Thunders.
  2. Just registered. Email is S3agu11s@o2.co.uk or @redstripe78 on twitter. Looking forward to it. Had a great time last year meeting everyone.
  3. Hi Jon, as per Banshee's comment, I'm one of those in his interested party and it appears we are good to come. Anything happening on the Saturday as we'll probably have to come up that afternoon/evening. :-)
  4. Hi Guys, I'm interested to find out if there are many Malifaux players in the Brighton of the UK? If so, do you play at gaming clubs or just at your own homes? There are 5 of us that play in the Lewes/Seaford area and I know of Onslaught Games in Hove where there are a few more, so just trying to gage the level of interest in the area and where if anywhere you hold games? Ta, Mark
  5. Excellent day on the Saturday, I really enjoyed myself. I'd personally like to take responsibilty for 2 things for OldManMyke, firstly giving him his first win of the day 6-2 (I dont wake up until after midday!!!!!!!) and secondly reminding him of the 7th turn! I'm now furiously catching up with the podcasts to get me through my days at work! Jon, thanks for organising and i'm sure I'll be up again at the next event. To all those I met and played against, thank you for all being good fun sports. Mark (@redstripe78)
  6. There are 3 of us coming up from Brighton for the Saturday. Unfortunately we can't stay for the Sunday though. I was thinking of using the Levi, Collodi and Jack Daw combo. :-)
  7. If you didn't kill Levi, chances are you used 2 cards that turn, so yes because it gives the option. Alos means you can try and stack your hand with the suits you may need for that turn too. Of course there is no wrong answer to the list in general. One of the great things about this game. :-)
  8. Sadly this place went out of business a while back. There is a stockist in Hove called Onslaught Games in Hove Park Villas (Brighton) though.
  9. The only time i've ever really used Jack Daw is when i have Treasure Hunt. I dont care about other things dieing so can burn my cards to keep him alive whilst he trudges back with the treasure chest. Otherwise i've not really seen why you would use him. I know he has some neat tricks but he can also be a liability if he turns side.
  10. I'm also looking in to this and i think i may drop Jack Daw and take Rusty Alyce, just because she gives you 2 draw cards in the draw phase (whilst within 3" of Levi anyhow).
  11. 1 - Misaki - quick with good range and some nice buff spells (Wind and Fire as zero action i use mainly). Also melee expert dishing out good damage (particularly Ten Thunders strike trigger). 2 - Ronin - 5ss for melee expert and Daisho ignores armor and a positive damage flip 3 - Taelor - Melee Expert and range of 3" with her relic hammer. Also ignores armour. 4 - Johan - Can hit at range or up close. Cheaper than Taelor and tougher to kill. 5 - Convict Gunslinger - paired pistols 6 - Ten Thunders Brother - good defensive tricks. Defensive stance with only a -1 to Wk/Cg 7 - Student of Conflict - To give fast to Viks etc. 8 - Bishop - Some nice tricks but doesn't do enough damage for my liking for his ss cost. 9 - Hamelin - a nice distraction when playing against Gremlins! 10 - Rusty Alyce - Some nice tricks to help with Leveticus (not quite mastered how to use him yet though and haven't used her many times).
  12. I often take Von Schill in my ressers crews. A particular favourite of mine is combining him with McMourning. Thats some hitting power!!! As he is a Mercenary nearly all crews can hire him. Only Leveticus, Som'er, The Dreamer and Hamelin can't hire him and also if your crew is lead by a Henchman.

    Girl Gang

Funnily enough this was the first crew i ever bought and it actually got me in to Malifaux. I liked the idea of running an all girl crew. I still use it to varying degrees now. I often use Johan with Misaki and Taelor now. I also bulked out with the Freikorp too.
  14. Well to add my two penneth's worth. I started playing Malifaux with the Viks and they are my favourite crew (I'm now moving over to Nicodem/McMourning). They hit hard and can cope with most other factions and the strategies (especially Assassinate and Slaughter). Firstly, you shouldn't have a pre-designed list before a match up. Certain things just won't work in certain strategies or against certain factions. I don't have access to the Friekorp at the moment but am back in to thinking of buying them. Saying that, i've had quite a bit of success at 35ss with the following. Vik & Vik 2 x Ronins 10ss Convict Gunslinger 6ss or Misaki 7ss Taelor 8ss Johan 6ss 5 or 4 ss cache. This gives you some good ranged weaponry to support you're excellent close combat. I like running both Taelor and Johan for the simple reasons that they have a Magical Hammer. Magical means you can hurt spirits (rather than half damage for non magical) and the hammers also make armour irrelivant (helps against things such as the Peacekeeper). Johan also has a pistol for a bit of range. The Ronins in this crew are the best thing i have used in the game. They are so versatile. They have manouverability (Mobile - ignore severe terrain) as well as a ranged attack. They're also really good in close combat with the +1 Melee expert (Daisho ignores armour and +flip on damage). I like the Misaki model which is why i use it. She has her weakness and that is her 7wd's. But what she does give you is a bit of speed and the fact that you can bolster her with a (0) action spell before you go. 6" melee range or a +2dg in your attacks. The Gunslinger is also great to use. He has paired pistols so get a +flip on the strike, giving you a good chance of hitting. As a side note, people i've played against say that the Ronin is the most broken thing in the game. For 5ss they are definately one of the best things in the game. Never overlook them in a Viks crew. One other advantage of buying this crew is that they are all Mercenaries. That means you can hire them in other crews from other Factions. I like being able to hire some of these hard hitting things in another faction. I think i need to go away and look at the Friekorp as an addition to my crew now though.
  15. Thanks for clarifying that for me. I've been running Outcasts (Viks) since starting about 6 months or so ago so have a lot of Mercenaries available for my new Nicodem crew.
