  1. aSeamus, aDreamer, and aPandora all have anathema. I haven't actually gotten much out of him yet. He's a big target, and like you said, he dies fast if left out in the open. That being said, he can potentially ruin a living crews day. A Belle can move up and lure him into a good range and bam, tons of morale and wp checks. Even if the other crew is non-living, he still has anathema and giant fists to fall back on. I think tagged teamed with Molly he'll be a force to be reckoned with.
  2. Now that you mention it, wracked with pain or scalpel slingin' do sound a lot better because of the body part increase. Well, just gotta hope I don't blow him up with scalpel slingin' lol. The merc never knows what is about to hit it. He did such an awesome job at blowing Joss up, and then Wham! Dissected by McM! Ah, the life of a resser. Can't wait to run him again!
  3. Yea, he's getting gutted at some point, but I like the fact that He'll definitely blow someone up before that. Master Surgeon gives him frantic, which helps soooo much.
  4. Sounds legit. After all, It's a trigger turning the unit into a MZ, nothing that the Autopsy is doing. I still don't like them. They look awesome though.
  5. So, after playing a game recently with my friend (McM vs his Ramos), I think I've uncovered a good way to make these units more awesome. In our game, I ran the merc up 10" the first turn, after McM (0) Master Surgeon-ed him for a point of WD. This gave him Frantic, which I then used next turn to blow up his Joss in 1 activation on turn 2. If you're not familiar with the merc, Frantic gives him a to attack. I then used the (0) action: for my family, which gives him +3 to duels, :+fate to damage, but you have to sac him at the end of the closing phase. He also has a (1) action that lets him attack twice at -2 cb and it can target more than one model. This effectively gave me 4 attacks at a 5 cb, with a to attack and :+fate to damage. If you have a red joker, you can probably get a straight flip with him and you'll do a minimum of 6 damage to a max of 8. Not bad for a 2 costing comes cheap merc! Oh, and when he's done, cut him up with McM for a body part counter and a corpse! I can definitely see me bringing at least 1 in any game with McM now.
  6. (1) Gorgon's Miasma: 10. Enemy models receive -2 Wp. This Action ends at the start of the End Closing Phase. So yes, it works on All enemy models. I guess it's worth the (1) after all!
  7. Anathema states that your terrifying effects any model without anathema, and makes your terrifying ignore any immunity to Morale duels. Also, you can Succumb to Darkness twice in a game, thus bringing up your terrifying to a 17 (base 13 + 2 + 2). Bludgeoning fists are not Paired in my book or on my cards. They do ignore armor though. Here's the things he loses: .50 flint lock, Hard to Wound 2, all of his spells, all of his triggers. He gains: Regeneration 2, Wicked Anathema(!) Mark of Dread (Boosts all your terrifying models terrifying by +1 and makes all of your non-terrifying models terrifying 12. Stain of Damnation: He's not considered living for game effects, but still drops corpse counters. 3 awesome triggers, decent spells (a self buff to give him a 4" range with 7crow to attack and a positive flip to damage at the cost of 1 wp, 14cc cast paralyze, and a way to heal yourself 12rc) +2 Armor while engaged. After playing him, I definitely like his triggers and his literal actions that are completely awesome. He has a trail of fears like ability that's a 1 cost that gives enemy models -2 wp and a 1 cost 4" pulse that makes everyone around him perform a WP -> 13 morale duel. He also heals 1 wd for each model that loses a morale duel in a 10" aura around him. Needless to say, he becomes a beat stick that can make even the most stubborn crews cry for their mommies!
  8. I was actually going to buy both NE products... So, yes, I guess it is. I think this thread has outlived it's usefulness. Close plz?
  9. Well, Puppet Wars was still available... No $$$$$$$$ Sherlock, hence the "yesterday" in my post. While I agree it was generous I was expecting the deadline to end Friday at night, not in the afternoon. Obviously, I could read and saw it was not for people who couldn't budget it, I could ( and should ) have ordered on Thursday, but figured I'd wait until I had more money in my account just in case. Wrong, It's "through" Friday, not through Thursday. Nathan Clarified this and I know i'm SOL, but it was still open on Friday until after I got home I guess. Puppet wars was still available throughout the evening and even now as I write this post.
  10. Forgive me if I'm mistaken, but why were there no actual malifaux gencon items in the store yesterday. According to Nathan the sale was extended till Friday. I purposefully waited then so I could put my paycheck in before doing another order thinking that I had time, but low and behold nothing was there. If you weren't going to have gencon items available on Friday, why say it?
  11. When I first saw this I was like.... uh duh.... but then I read Doxy's ability. "Part of the Harem" does have weird wording. It makes it sound like, since you're casting "Arise, My Sweet", you can also discard a corpse counter and summon Doxy. This is different than say Guild Autopsies for McM that states you can summon them by dropping 3 BPC for the spell. It just seems like Part of the Harem adds on to the spell instead of giving you a choice to pick one bell or another, based on the wording.
  12. Going Avatar also means you probably won't be taking CCK or Seamus Scheme. I guess the spells the avatars can cast would just be way too broken for a totem to be able to use. They add a new layer to gameplay and you have to kind of build around them. I still don't like that I have to burn 2 actions superfluously in order to meet a requirement, seems wasteful. /shrug. I think I might have to run card drainers (i.e., Betty) to see if I can pull off his 2nd manifestation requirement. Maybe I should focus on painting him first! lol
  13. So I already need to get new cards.... yay...
  14. Seamus all the way. You still have a chance to order his Avatar!!! Dead Doxy and a Crooked Man (They come in your Dead Justice Pack) will definitely give you the most out of the crew. Punk Zombie, The Drowned, and Autopsies are going to be situational at best for Seamus. If you ever decide to branch out more into the Ressers, then you'll have models to already which will definitely help your crews chances.
  15. Is your opponent going to be running her Avatar? Honestly, I don't have a ton of experience with McM, but I think Grudge on Samael Hopkins (Or whatever her big beater is) would be good with Shikome. I'm always leery about taking spirits vs a casting master, though. Depending on your Strategy, you're going to have to really change your play style. I can list out all the crews for each strategy but that would be a lot of effort. What other models do you have available?
  16. Well, seeing as he can pop them out like candy and can enhance them into decent attackers for a (0) and (1) action, and then still has the ability to create potentially 3 punk zombies with just another (1) action.... I don't think he's going to suck. Only potential risk I see is if things die outside of his 6" range of Restless dead. Those corpse counters become useless to him. I guess you could bring the embalmer lol.
  17. Getting into a good position to manifest was also kind of a problem. I'm thinking about running Copycat killer just to set off a seamus bomb lol.
  18. It was before he went avatar, but yes, Anathema is AWESOME. When I was looking at the Avatar models by themselves (Seamus/Kirai) I thought they were too small to cost what I paid for them.... but after putting them near my other models I think they're worth the little extra. A funny observation: Kirai's lifeless body is huge.
  19. Well, maybe I won't take your word at Gospel, but It's still good to have confirmation that I'm not the only one thinking this way.
  20. Thanks Hatchethead. What about things like Lady Justice crew who get +2 WP vs undead...things... I know stubborn doesn't apply to morale duels, and I'm guessing that her anti-undead measure is doesn't kick in for morale duels either. (I had a henchmen tell me it did at my LGS last saturday and I didn't believe him.) Cornelious, I got my aSeamus and aKirai from a friend who went to gencon, so I wasn't proxying . He definitely raced for it so that turn 3 he did a (2) action to get her out. I waited to try to setup some wickedness for my manifest, but ended up dying rather quickly. I did face of death twice, but it's rather hard to get No escape off against Perdita and Family. She hits hard and blows right through anything in firing range. His extra hand hurt too. I even had the pleasure of seeing that red joker and knowing he was going to kill me with it lol. I would like to test out running him with an actual crew and not being limited to just ~25 pts. The most annoying thing was the dispel that she could do. It removed paralysis and slow from her crew which basically made my actions wasted. I think running jack daw and the hanged with him would be disgusting against scare-able crews and would probably have tipped the odds in my favor... although with claim jump I should have let him come to me more lol.
  21. Just finished a game tonight with aSeamus vs aPerdita. After making several miscalculations Perdita wiped my poor crew off the board. Playing on a large tavern board with corner deployments and my Claim Jump vs his Slaughter. This was a 27 point game (Perdita's box is 25 so he couldn't take his avatar). He ran her box, I didn't want to get crazy so I took 3 belles, Gunslinger, and a necropunk to keep it simple. After plenty of shenanigans and me basically ignoring my strategy I ran into the gun line and died. Overall, I like the Avatars. Cool addition and Thanks Wyrd! One thing I was curious about. I can terrify normal Perdita, right? I read somewhere that Immune to Influence doesn't make you immune to simple duels like terrifying. We ruled it like that, was I correct?
  22. When it comes to box sets most of them are decent to run right out of the box. I know a couple of them are bad (Looking at you McMourning), but they are all a great place to learn the game from. Now, will you be Min/Max'd from the get go? No, but you have to start somewhere. I know Som'er has a couple of different crew types you can run (gunline, skeeters, pigs, etc), his box gives you an okay mix of units to familiarize yourself with. He does have a lot of options, so stick with whatever floats your boat. Ophelia is pretty straight forward. Take some time to read the cards and tacticas and you'll be proficient with her within a game or so. Disclaimer: I don't play grems, but I think they're awesome! Hope you pick them up.
  23. I <3 this thread so much. Can't wait for all of them. At least I'm going to have half of them soon!
  24. I'm at a little over the 3 month mark myself. I'm sitting with: Guild: Dead Lady Justice Aracnists: Raspy(Gave her away to a friend though) Ressers: Nicodem, Seamus, McM, Kirai Outcasts: Von Schill and Hamlin. Not to mention all the minions I've bought! Traded my MTG Collection in for about $300 bucks which helped!
  25. Well, I don't believe Miss Pack or Miss Demeanor fit any sort of form with their names. I think Miss Cast would be perfect .
