  1. As a new player who jumped right in with Lady Justice box set I really appreciate the views above. After about a dozen games with her I'm JUST starting to get the idea of how to manage the interplay between her, the Death Marshals, etc. For the 19SS problem, get a totem. Scales of Justice is VERY cool. allowing you to refresh a card in your hand each activation. Also, her Totem being able to cast the spell that gives up to 2 models Melee Expert (forget the name) is awesome. Let me also make a pitch for putting the Executioner in a crew. Like Lady Justice, when opponents see him coming they generally flee or hide ... since he Loves This Job, all he needs to do is get buffed up to Melee Expert (by Scales as above, or Lady Justice), lumber up to an enemy and kill it ... poof, all wounds healed as he revels in his handywork. All in all, I"m really enjoying playing Lady Justice as Master, though I admit to being very impressed with Perdita and her crew. Have fun!
  2. Do we know how many players may attend at this point? Also, is there any such thing as 'banned' figures or configurations (like CCGs)?
  3. I have been playing for much longer than you ... almost 6 weeks! and had been running the Lady Justice box + Scales of Justice every game. Started getting used to the pace of play but wanted to try the Ortegas for the same reason you mention, fire power. O ... My .... Gawd! If you want shooty then you have the perfect crew. The field of fire they lay down is awesome, especially with Nino's 16" gattling gun range. Add to that Perdita (and her totem's) ability to cast Obey, and Papa Loco's ability to take out a cluster of opponents with "Take Yo With Me", well, let's just say I've fallen in love with a little lady with a six gun.
  4. Brooklyn rules in so many ways, but I didn't realize it rules in Malifaux too! We have very rapidly developed a strong following at our game club in Park Slope ( www.nycwargames.com , follow the link to the Yahoo site where we organize games etc.). Maybe some of your players have joined us, we regularly get FoeRender down there to host / teach / demo. We should get together some time. Also, I'm sure you know about FoeRender's Malifaux tournament on June 11th at the Strategist, maybe we can meet there.
  5. I'll be traveling to London the week of 23rd May and will hop over to Belfast for a few days too. Are there any play groups that play Malifaux, have a few extra models, and won't be too hard on a newbie player?
  6. OK, I give up. I've stared at the pictures, and I've stared at the bitz, and I just can't figure out how to assemble the Peacekeeper. And its really ticking me off because there is a gaggle of pesky Gremlins I owe a butt-wooping to and would like to use a mechanical friend to help me do it. Does anyone have a pictorial on how the Peacekeeper fits together?
  7. Hopefully Metro Wargamers ( www.nycwargames.com ) will be out in force ...
  8. I'd like to get some thematic terrain, buildings and such to augment our collection at our game club (www.nycwargames.com). We've recently jumped enthusiastically through The Breach and have a dedicated crew of players I want to encourage. Can anyone suggest a company that carries this in the suitable scale? Also, I'm thinking of getting a few 3' x 3' play surfaces that we can easily set up on a table top. I'm not sure the best material to use ...ie I think wood would warp, and maybe foam core would be too fragile. Any suggestions?
  9. The players at NYC Metro Wargamers ( www.nycwargames.com ) have really gotten into Mallifaux big time, with about 10 of our 40 regular members with crews, or putting them together. So, I'd like to introduce myself (I'm Mike, VP of the club) and the club to the forum ... we have active, have our own permanent location, and welcome visitors ... and are hooked on Mallifaux. We'll probably be showing up on the boards with some of the dumb newbie questions (luckily we have one or two experienced players as guides, so maybe not too many) and hope to become active participants in the wyrd and wonderful world of Mallifaux.
