  1. Greetings, I have had the good fortune of coming upon a Miss Pack recently. I do not have Resurrectionists and do not have plans to, so I thought I might find this lovely lady a loving home. (See pics at the bottom of this post) She was lovingly painted by me and mounted onto a custom base I cut specifically for her. I won't try to rate my own painting quality; rather, I'll let you decide if she is up to your standards. She is both an uncommon figure and she now has some extra added value for the paint job, so I am open to negotiation for what you would like to offer in trade. I can also toss in bits from my considerable Warmachine & Hordes collections if need be. Now, what I'm looking for: Pretty much all the Cult of December themed & related models- Rasputina box Joss December Acolytes Wendigo Essence of Power Silent One(s) Snowstorm Anything else I should have that I didn't rattle off ----- As promised, here are a couple of photographs. These are untouched except to crop and resize the photos.
  2. My gratitude goes out to anyone who voted for my figures and for all who had positive things to say about my Viktorias crew. I'm flattered that people think well of my work. (Cross-posting from the other thread: ) For the league guys- anyone who wants to come in on Thursday evenings in between leagues and sit down and paint with me, please do. I will be more than happy to give instruction, tips, and answer any questions anyone has. I'd like to see everyone improve their skills and paint up models they can be proud of.
  3. I'm flattered and honored that my league mates thought enough of me to award me the sportmanship scores that earned me the award. It was a total surprise and honestly it means much more to me than winning the painting award. Painting's great and all, but what I want most is for my opponents to have a good time. I'm really glad they thought so. For the league guys- anyone who wants to come in on Thursday evenings in between leagues and sit down and paint with me, please do. 4. What time you gonna be at the shop? I'm wrapping up the Warmachine event around 1730.
  5. Regardless of the result, I am just pleased as punch that so many people got their stuff painted. I would like to see more bases done, but paint on so many models is great in and of itself.
  6. Grats Jacob. Hopefully I'll be available for more games next time around so I can have a go at The Dreamer. Omen, where will you be posting the painted minis? Curious to see how all my ladies look.
  7. I will be out of town on Saturday. Any chance I can have whoever is judging the painting to look at mine on Thursday?
  8. Ghool's guide over at HandCannon is very useful. http://handcannononline.com/blog/2011/04/20/tutorial-basics-%E2%80%93-glorious-locks-painting-hair/
  9. Greetings reader; First, what I'm looking for: Pretty much all the Cult of December themed & related models- Rasputina box Joss December Acolytes Wendigo Essence of Power Silent One(s) Snowstorm Anything else I should have that I didn't rattle off Now, what I have: I've been a volunteer for Privateer Press for the last 8 years, much in the same vein as the Henchmen program. In that time I have amassed about 7 factions plus extras. I literally have almost everything. Much of it is well assembled, some of it is painted. Some of it is still new in boxes. You tell me what you want and I more than likely have it, including recent releases. I'm in the US if it matters. Send along a PM if you'd like to propose a trade. I'd prefer to get the Arcanist/Cult stuff all in one lot. If I can't get it, I'll start entertaining piecemeal offers from multiple sources.
  10. Did a search for the relevant terms and didn't come across this yet. I've only played less than <10 games so there's a good possibility I'm missing some nuance of the rules. Hans, Goggles: "This model ignores any enemy spell or talent that affects LoS." The Dreamer, Shadowy Form: "This model cannot be targeted by an enemy Action while it is within 3" of a friendly Nightmare that could have been targeted by the Action." Does the 'Goggles' rule trump Shadowy Form? The way I read it, it hinges on whether or not Shadowy Form is affecting LOS or simply denying targeting, which may or may not be independent concepts.
  11. The house was packed last night. Looks like everyone had a good time. The Viks snatched a win out from the grip of defeat again this week. A bloody series of exchanges between Lilith's brood and the Viks' ragtag bunch of outlaws ended in a lot of bodies and blood counters. By turn 5 the game hinged on a single duel: Lilith vs Gun Viktoria. Lilith was on position to achieve her strategy and one of her schemes. The game would be at least 4-0 if Vik couldn't stop her, and it could have gone up to 6-0. Vik cast Sisters in Battle for the damage buff and walked in, using melee expert to take one desperate attack. Both combatants held a single soulstone. The attack flip came up Red Joker. Lilith flipped and soulstoned to add, Vik responded in kind. The Red Joker proved to be too much of a lead and the hit succeeded, striking down the demonic matron and completing the Viks' strategy and schemes.
  12. I've never found greenstuff to help glue anything together. I pinned mine. I'd also recommend you have a good glue. I've found that the glue used really does make a difference in the durability of a join. Dollar store superglue won't cut it, nor will zap-a-gap or lock-tite or some other brands. Personally i'd recommend Gorilla brand superglue.
  13. The Viktorias had some very friendly flips last night. We both played Distraction and announced Holdout, drawing a clear line in the sand across the middle of the board. Sword Mistress slingshotted ahead and cut down two minions early. Wes's Lady J crew had a hard time catching its breath after that and had to play defensively against a high-pressure push from Bishop and Sword Mistress. The game came down to a critical turn 7 duel between a lone Lady Justice and the Convict Gunslinger. She cut a chunk out of him and tried to run, but the Gunslinger kept her in place with a disengaging Gunfighter strike. Had she pulled away the game would have ended 4-2 in favor of the Viks, but Lady J's misstep forced the game to end at 8-0. Tough game for Wes. He fought it well but the fate deck just didn't flip well for him.
  14. And I begin my slow decline to the bottom of the ladder. It's all good though; I fully intend to reach my weekly goal of one more crew member fully painted and fielded each Thursday through the end of the league. Coming this Thursday: Bishop.
  15. For my match, Steve wagered the Quarantine Zone and I wagered the Necropolis. It was a battle with a lot of fireworks. By the end of turn 2, the Sword Mistress had cut down all three of Lilith's Terror Tots in a single tantrum of flashing steel. At the same time, the Convict riddled the Young Nephilim full of lead before he could be allowed to mature. It seemed I had things well under control, but that terrifying nephilim Princess (her name escapes me) tore through much of my reserves before the end of the game. The Convict stepped up and gunned down the Princess, but the damage was done. I lacked the models to complete my strategy and the points ultimately went to Lilith. Hell of a lot of fun. I'm still pretty green to the game, so winning isn't my priority. I fielded a fully painted crew tonight, and my goal is to paint one model and field it as a part of the crew each week. By the end of the league I'll have my entire fledgling collection painted.
  16. And am I the only person who keeps calling him "Kovnik Gunslinger"?
  17. Looks that way, anyhow. I dug around and didn't see much discussion on him. I picked him up for his discard shenanigans, but his ranged attacks seem pretty strong. Admittedly I'm pretty new to the game and this is pure theory, but the seeming amount of ranged fire this guy can potentially generate is impressive. The big panda is the Rapid Fire -> Paired -> Trigger Happy silliness. Sure he needs the triggers to come up but with Paired it seems like the chances aren't half bad for it to happen once or twice in a sequence. I realize he can't move and do this (absent of the Student of Conflict) but that's not too big a price to pay for me. Seems like he'd be a solid deterrent to enemy models entering his zone of threat. So, where's the discussion on this guy? What are your experiences with him? What works? What doesn't? What models play nice with him? Any schemes he's especially good at contributing towards?
  18. When the game first came out a couple of years ago, I tried it out. I ended up passing on it, because the card mechanic frustrated me. It seemed like no matter what I did, my opponents always cheated in a 13 to defend, and I was always missing while they were constantly shredding my crew. This colored my impression of the game and led me to not get into it at first. Now that I'm getting back into it, I am realizing that the cards weren't my problem. My problem was not understanding the nuances of the game. Once I came to understand that a large part of the game is forcing your opponent to burn up his hand and force tough cheating decisions, the game warmed up to me. Hand management is integral to your success in the game, and I'd encourage you to get with a knowledgeable player who can explain these subtleties to you. I think if you can see the "game within the game" and realize that Malifaux isn't just about blowing up your opponent's models but is more about resource management, deception and attrition of resources, I think you'll enjoy the game more. Once you feel like you're in control of your Fate deck, you'll feel better about it.
  19. He's in my area. We have a rapidly growing Malifaux base here in the New Orleans area, thanks in large part to the efforts of our Henchmen.
  20. True enough. My collection is still fairly slim so pardon my limited perspective.
  21. Last time I saw him at GenCon, he was unloading the trays for $25. Could be more now. They might be a bit much for Malifaux as the typical crew isn't going to be more than 10 figures. That and they're not for display so much, but they are pretty handy. I tend to make my own display trays out of balsa and foam. Attach a 32mm hole saw to my rotary tool and cut the holes where I want it, flock and decorate it.
  22. One thing at a time. I'm a very meticulous painter.
