  1. cheers for the replies. Guess i'll have to see if santa brings me anything nice this year
  2. Hey all, just wanted to ask a couple of questions... I own a copy of Puppet Wars 1st Edition, but obviously the game has been updated with the new Unstitched version, and so I just wanted to know: 1) Is the board the same size in the new game? 2) Are there multiplayer rules? as i have the multiplayer expansion etc 3) can i play the game with the existing models I own? (namely the starter box and multiplayer upgrade) 4) Am I allowed to copy the rules from the website into a document for personal use? any help appreciated
  3. To add my two-penneth worth, I have to say the quality of the plastic sculpts is overall very impressive. All the models i have seen, bar a couple of exceptions, have had plenty of character. Admittedly, they can be a bit of a pain in the arse to assemble (yes, im looking at you Torakage!), and require a little bit of filling to sort them out, but the possibilities that plastic sculpts offer over metal ones is quite astonishing. I have to agree that certain models should be available out of the starter boxes, well, in general all of the current "minion" models (torakage, rail workers, ashigaru and wastrels) should be available as there own box sets, and i hope that when the new boxes come out I will not have to buy multiple starters just for the sake of minions. Adding additional pieces to the plastics would be a cool idea, so not every crew contains wastrel that looks like their opponents wastrels (for example); I'm not saying we need GW-esque plastics with 100 bits that will end up in a bits-box, just some variety; a selection of alternate heads/weapons/arms perhaps. As for crew that need X times Witchling Stalkers or X times Malifaux Rats, surely we cannot judge this until Malifaux v2 is released for public beta and we can make judgements on what is viable. Just my thoughts.
  4. Well, I for one am very happy about the recent announcement of a second edition of Malifaux. Although a big fan of the game in its current state, I struggled with the mechanics at times....plus i'm not very good at it. However, the thing that sucked me into the Maliverse was the quality of the models, which, bar a few exceptions, were simply astounding!! With the move into plastic complete, and the generally good quality of the Storm of Shadows releases, as well as the preview art for the new Rasputina box, I was just wondering what people were looking forward to in resculpts. I for one, am really looking forward to seeing a new Desolate and Soulless box; I always wanted to play Leveticus but couldn't bring myself to buy his box as I didn't like the model!!
  5. Cheers for that, was kinda worried that book 1.5 had more fluff in that i hadn't read, so not overly fussed about picking that one up now, especially with v2 on the horizon. Hope that the v2 book continues in the same vein as Storm of Shadows; i loved the writing style in that book.
  6. Hey, Hopefully I'm in the right place for this....just a quick thought....is there a definitive timeline for the Malifaux background? Obviously I'm assuming that all the stories in the books take place (kind of) sequentially, but what about the fluff in things like Wyrd Chronicles? Probably sounds an odd request, or something that somebody else has already posted, but I really enjoy reading the background of the games I play; a prime example being Warmachine, although the number of books/short stories/no quarters etc make it a bit difficult (not to mention expensive) for me to keep track of. Well, hope its not an odd request I'll get mocked for, but just wanna catch up on everthing before V2. Let the countdown begin!
  7. Oh yeah, I forgot. a 3rd stitched together model.... they are rare 3 and i hate duplicates. Plus you only get 2 in the blister which makes me sad
  8. Heard a lot about Wastrels being a good model to take, I like the rules (and models) just wondering what other peoples thoughts were. I really like the marshall models too,,,, and hopefully ms terious will be with me before the year is out (thankyou kickstarter...)
  9. Whats a decent amount of soulstones to run Perdita with? is 7/8 too many? just wary because she has fewer wounds than a lot of other masters
  10. I posted up earlier about ideas on a crew which might suit my "hyper-aggresive" playstyle, and although the common consensus has been to run lilith, lady j or the viks, I'm a bit screw because my regular opponents run these crews. Having found my Perdita model, which I bought simply because its a very pretty model, I was paying round with the crew creator to make a "core" list to start playing around with. Rather than being the traditional "obey spam" (a tactic which caused my hiatus from Malifaux) I was looking at a more melee orientated crew, with some ranged support. any thoughts/ideas? Build 1 - Guild Crew - 35 - Scrap Perdita Ortega -- 7 Pool Brutal Effigy [4ss] Judge [7ss] Santiago Ortega [7ss] Wastrel [4ss] Wastrel [4ss] Witchling Stalker [4ss] or Build 2 - Guild Crew - 35 - Scrap Perdita Ortega -- 7 Pool Drill Sergeant [3ss] Executioner [7ss] Latigo Pistolero [3ss] Latigo Pistolero [3ss] Santiago Ortega [7ss] Watcher [3ss] Witchling Stalker [4ss]
  11. Running Seamus as a massive beatstick did not go well for me. Despite his apparent sturdiness (High Wd, Hard to Wound 2, healing abilities etc) every game he has come face to face with another master he managed to get his head caved in due to a weak Df.... Lilith has enough attacks to tear him to pieces, Lady J makes a mess with a greatsword and even Marcus can whack real hard. I found the hard to wound a double edged sword...although in theory it seems great, all my experiences meant that there was more chances of my opponent flipping a red joker, leaving the mad hatter not so much mad, but more....dead. Especially when you have to chuck soulstones away to guarantee hits due to an average Cb stat....
  12. I know where you're coming from regarding limited edition models, for example the image of Lord Chompy with the Dreamer on his shoulder was one of the first things that inspired me to get into Malifaux, and I was a little bit mortified to see the actual model compared to the Nightmare Edition. From a retail perspective, Limited Edition models are ideal for what they do, ie generate a lot of interest in game systems, offer alternatives to existing models, or offer incentives as prizes etc. My main problem with limited edition models is how cynical (or some may say savvy) buyers will purchase a great number of these models knowing that there re-sale value will (the majority of the time) pay for their expenditure along with a decent profit. This is not just true in miniatures, steelbook blurays and limited edition vinyl records also face this problem. Unfortunately, the main problem with limited editions models is their desirability, and because of this there will always be people who will take advantage of this. It is just a shame that many people are unable to share in these models due to financial constraints, or their location.
  13. Yea i was thinkin the like, unfortunatley my bro has the viks, and my best mates lilith and lady j! Was thinkin maybe the alt lilith model, or maybe an unorthodox perdita close combat crew (eg perdita, judge, santana- god bless kickstarters- and other random stuff). Any thoughts on non-family perdita crews?
