  1. Nilus, if you're planning to have a tournament anytime soon up I might. The train up to Chicago is very reasonably priced. How far from the station is your local hang out?
  2. Ack, so close and yet so far! With gas prices being what they are.
  3. I've not been a huge fan of the 3D movies either, but I do enjoy seeing them on an Imax. Much better alternative IMO.
  4. I'm in Champaign, IL. There is a fledgling Malifaux Scene starting up. I wish I had a little extra time to help grow it. I'm finishing a graduate degree in Theatre at the moment so no real extra time.
  5. I think what happened would be that at the end of the Hanged's activation, once Kirai had been terrified into running away, the Kirai player utilized the Seishin's Enslaved by Kirai ability. Basically at the end of any activation if a Seishin is not in base to base contact with Kirai it can move so that it is in base to base.
  6. I noticed this as well. I didn't think it made much sense but I assumed it was intensional as the wording is very different in the rules manual from the first book. It also makes sense as to why the hanged have the ability Float. If spirits are immune to severe terrain it doesn't make much sense as to why you are paying points cost for the Hanged to have float.
  7. You go after your strategies and schemes, and punish mercilessly any mistakes that the Dreamer player makes. Honestly there really isn't anything you can do to specifically kill LCB in my experience. If you are specifically gunning for him you would need to count on: A) The Dreamer player making a mistake and leaving LCB out in range of a model or group of models that can hurt him. The Dreamer player not having enough Soul Stones to use in the defense or healing of LCB. C) The Dreamer player not having sources of healing on other models. I'm not saying the LCB is invincible, because he really isn't. It's just that if you are specifically trying to kill him you have an uphill battle on your hands. The best advice I've had on dealing with LCB from Dreamer players if that you need to understand the Dreamer's crew (and in particular LCB) is going to kill an important model in your crew. Accept it, plan for it, and move on. Be prepared to leverage any mistake made in positioning or timing the Dreamer player makes. Focus on completing your VP conditions, and attempting to deny the Dreamer his. You'll have better success if you just ignore him as a dedicated target, and consider him more a target of opportunity. An example I can give for recent experience was a game where I was playing Kirai Vs. the Dreamer. The Dreamer player was a newer player and kept leaving Chompy out after activating. I got trigger happy and kept trying to kill him so I could complete my VP in peace. I summoned the Ikiryo out on him 3 or 4 times during the game and repeatedly mauled chompy. At the end of the game I had reduced him to 1 or 2 wounds multiple times, drained all 8 stones the Dreamer brought with him, and failed to stop Coppelius from healing him twice. The practical upshot of which turned out to be a loss for me. If I had just kept Kirai focused on denying him his strategy instead of trying to kill LCB I'd have most likely won. In your case specific Tactics I'd use. Use Perdita as your master and bring along the family, and an austringer or two. Focus on your strategy and schemes, but keep the pressure on the Dreamer's crew with fire power and continually harass what ever model the dreamer is using as his bodyguard with your austringers. Additionally targeting his daydreams with your austringers I have found is helpful. If he uses stitched togethers as bodyguards try to kill them early in the round and out of range of their gamble your life ability. Spread your models out at medium ranges. Close enough that the models can all easily support each other, but far enough away that an alp bomb or Nightmare hit squad can't get more than one or two. If the LCB ever stays out, activate your companion abilities and concentrate fire on him. Even if you don't kill him you'll most likely drain away his stones which will help reduce his lethality. I hope some of this information might help. GL
  8. Currently I used Ratty's card creator templates to create belle cards with the picture of my new conversions so it would be less confusing. The backs have no spell information so that any questions would have to refer to the official cards. Thanks for the reply!
  9. Thanks for the replies. I totally understand that local TO will be more lenient (if there ever is a tourney here) however can I ask the community's opinion on the logic behind requiring each conversion to have an official card, if multiple official examples are already onhand? I in no way mean to sound belligerent or testy about this. I honestly curious as to to what the thinking is behind this. Again just using my own situation as an example if I were to bring my belle conversions with me I'd already have 3 official cards with me so if there was any question as to what the actual wording on the cards were there would be official documents to refer to. Would this just be an example of bureaucracy needing to be applied across the board evenly to try to avoid any possible cheating for advantage? Thanks! As a side note does anyone have a recommendation for where to find parasols in the correct scale. I had thought of MB's thought on drink umbrellas but they were too big.
  10. Hey all, Had a question regarding conversions. I ask because, although I currently am not in a location which has any real regular Malifaux play going on, I like to play in tournaments when I can. I'm curious as to what would be considered an a conversion vs. a proxy for official events. Does Wyrd currently have a definition as to what constitutes an allowable conversion vs. a proxy? In the Gaining grounds document it also states you need the official card for the model in question, how does that work for conversions? I can illustrate my question with a personal example: In one of my Resurrectionist crews, Seamus, I wanted to have some extra Belles on hand, but didn't want to have duplicate sculpts. Looking over the rest of Wyrd's line I decided to pick up a clamshell of Hollow Waifs to add to my Belles. They are painted exactly like the rest of my Belles but I doubt that just a matching paint job would qualify them. I've been looking for parasols or fans to attach to them but so far no luck (who would have thought that parasols and fans would be so rare in miniature war games =). And for their cards, any time they would show up I'd also have my official Rotten Belles there as well. Would I have to order additional cards for the conversions even though I have official versions on hand? Any thoughts on this issue would be greatly appreciated.
  11. McMorning - Zombie Chihuahua Nicodem - 2 Vultures Kirai - Lost Love Masters clump together on first turn. Kirai Activates and uses spirit food on the chihuahua. McMorning Does his thing and butchers the 2 vultures and the chihuahua on first turn to summon big nasties, 1 gaki pops out. Kirai gains 3 seishin from the slaughtering ready to spread out and be evolved into Onryo or Gaki. The lost love turns the big nasty summoned into a spirit. Nicodem uses the corpse counters dropped to summon crooked men. Lather rinse and repeat.
  12. I'd be fine with you putting the whole thing out (with interruptions edited of course), but then I'm an avid books on tape listener. I love long entertaining or interesting conversations.
  13. Hello all, I'm currently a graduate student at the University of Illinois, and over the winter semester break I was waiting for a game of WHFB and started flipping through the Malifaux Rule book. I have to say I was instantly hooked. I since hen have gotten both the rule books and have bought and painted a Red Chapel Crew. I've now gotten to play three full games and I have to say I have greatly enjoyed the experience. So much so that I think it is the best miniatures game I've played. I'm thinking therefore of expending my collection, but I don't know which way to go. I've narrowed it down to three options: Kirai: I love Japanese culture and mythology, and her hit and run style of darting around the board and swapping spirits and then snapping the seishin to her is very appealing. I also love her model. The issue is that I can see she will be a very $$$ intensive master (comparatively) and as a Graduate student in theatrical design, money is tight. Also currently her models offer no real synergy or advantage to other Rezzer masters. Collette: Love her Models quite a bit, and again love how fast she seems to be. I particularly love how many movement tricks can be pulled off using the coryphée and Cassandra. The issue is that while I like to play casual games quite a bit, I am at heart a very competitive player. Given that at official tournaments you declare Faction first and then assemble the crew I’m a little leery of leaving the Rezzer model line, since I have no real interest in any other Arcanist models or Crews. Wait for Molly: It will be a number of months yet till Molly releases, and I’m awaiting her anxiously. The possible advantages of course are that if additional Belle models are created they will offer additional synergy with my existing Master, and the models I currently own will most likely be able to find a home with her while remaining in the rezzer line. Disadvantages obviously that except for a few people who can’t speak about it there is no real certainty in how Molly’s Crew will play, and it will be a number of months before there is any information about them. Currently my Crew consists of: The Seamus Boxed Set The Copycat Killer Bete Noir And two Hollow Waifs converted into additional Rotten Belles. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  14. My Votes: Rotten Belle Rusty Alyce Rogue Necromancy
  15. I recommend: The Lies of Locke Lamora and its sequel Red Sails Under Red Skies.
  16. Hmmmmm, If that constitutes momentum that gives me an idea! Allow me to offer this vote: 1. Copycat Killer x Infinity... +1 =D
  17. I use the hollow waif in pantaloons. I've modified her so she is dangling a zombie head from GW's range from one of her hands. I'm modifying the other to be a punk zombie.
  18. I listen to alot of books on tape, or I'll put in one of the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes DVDs I have. Lately I've also put in episodes of Castle.
