  1. I predict beer All painting finished
  2. Had a break from painting last night to get printed cards and counters all cut out and laminated. Also to actually throw the crew down with Biscuit and see how it works after the massive errata rewrite. Got to say on first impressions that I really like what Wyrd did with it. I only played one game with old Hamelin then mothballed the crew because I just didn't like the way it felt like you were abusing the system rather than playing the game. Now it feels like you're both actually taking part and it's fun - result! :1_Happy_Puppet2:
  3. All done on Monday night ;-) kids cleared last night, just the adults to go...
  4. Anyone else still painting? :-) finally got to lay brush to crew on Monday night, 22 minis done so far, 5 to go... Rawr! Can't wait for the weekend!
  5. Best make them all 25-35ss then or we'll not be done while Monday night... :-p
  6. I've voted Nicodem as his speed and reliance on corpse counters can let him down badly. I haven't used his avatar though so can't comment on that. I will say though that the original three Resser masters don't really stand alone very well. As a whole the form a toolbox that lets you face any master but there are some really bad matchups for all of them individually. McMourning is probably the easiest to get along with but has horrible wp vulnerabilities, Nicodem suffers from speed and over reliance on corpse counters, Seamus suffers if bogged down in combat and his crew can lack big hitters. If you get a matchup that plays to their strengths though... Dead Rider adds a lot to all of them, not least of which is providing a fast reliable taxi service. Belles are a gimme for Seamus and McMourning, for pulling stuff into range but also for pulling Seamus or Doug around. People have mentioned Jack "Crutch" Daw and Hanged but he is (overly) good with anyone really and I don't think you'll learn much about how to use Ressers by fielding him. Molly has a use btw, it's filthy as sin but I'm not spilling the beans just yet ;-)
  7. Looking forwards to this a lot - first event I'll have been to since moving house in October! Bring the pain! ;-)
  8. Useful for their blast attacks against Pandy and other masters who like to cluster their minions. With access to The Hanged, Belles and other minis that can move the opposing minis around its not hard to set Shafted up but definitely don't get carried away with it, bear it in mind for opportunism though... I like using Belles & Doug together, throwing a Shafted market in the path of a Lure victim is always good for a laugh and if you were going to Lure them anyway doesn't have a massive opportunity cost. @ Calmdown: they're never going to shine mate, they're a 4SS Resser... They really only work when you look at how their abilities combine with other stuff in your list. That's pretty much the case with every model in the faction under 5SS cost. Look at them paired up with another model and they really start making sense.
  9. B&Bs & hotels are notorious for price gouging at holiday times, why not try the local backpacker hostels like this one? http://www.riverhousebackpackers.com/budget-accommodation.php You can usually book a private room or book a whole dorm if there's a bunch of you and it costs a fraction. Did it for a stag do in the middle of Edinburgh and it cost about £30 for two nights!
  10. Sounds good Dom :-) I think Andrea has stuck me down for a ticket with Biscuit & herself. Very reasonably priced as well, considering you're paying venue hire and for prize support! Looking forwards to it :-) Rich
  11. I love McMourning, I love him so hard, I love him longtime!!! (Help me!!! He made me say this, he won't let me come to the GT otherwise! God help me if he finds out I'm thinking of bringing Hamelin, Nicodem or that bitch Rasputina. He's always snooping, him or that damn Chihuahua! Wait... What's that noise? :crows He's watching me type this!!!! No... No... Wait! Not the cavity search!!!!! Help me someone, help me, for God's sake HELP MEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!) :mcmourning
  12. Meanie!!! Just because you know I picked up :hamelin at Deliverance! :-p
  13. If you play Bete then Punk Zeds can be nice. Charge into melee range of a pair of targets, slice one up, get killed and trigger Slow to Die to do more damage then spawn Bete in there and trigger Flurry to finish off the second model. Took out a Gunslinger and Kaeris with that in one of my warm up games for Deliverance I like them with McMourning and Nurse, they give him something that can reliably bring the pain to the high Df crews I regularly face, plus they can do spell damage which is nice against spirits. Really need to get mine painted so they can see the table at tournaments...
  14. 6th overall, and 2nd place book one master! I'm well happy with that considering I had to rock with what I had painted
  15. I'll probably run McMourning for shits and giggles, might get Nicodem and Seamus painted for the craic though... I have some ideas for Deadly Doug I want to try out against Pandy, Kirai, Dreamer etc so it'd be a good venue for that I suspect... Pass the 10A please Nurse!
  16. Great event Dom, really good fun! There was a laid back atmosphere and all the usual banter from the players and refs Enjoyed my first outings against the Dreamer & Kirai immensely (though I was tired enough to faceplant the table against Ant's Kirai in the last game, thanks to the noisy natives the night before...), and I have some ideas on how to tackle them with Deadly Doug. Next time boys, next time... Still hate Jack Daw with a passion though on meeting him for a second time! I'd echo Andrea that we had one game too many on the Sunday with the later start and the long drive back to Nottingham. Maybe one smaller game and a brawl, or even two brawls would work better if you have players coming from all over? Thanks to all my opponents: Rich, Jon, Jo, James, Dai & Ant for some cracking games Rich
  17. @ joelmmorganLooking around I didn't see more than one or two players using unpainted minis, not bad for a tournament with that many players!
  18. Mate, I was like this with envy: http://wyrd-games.net/shop/product.php?productid=16303&cat=261&page=1 Its an awesome set! I really like the smaller Chompy.
  19. Another new player won over to Malifaux and a bunch more interest as well :-) don't worry Jo I already told him he has a weekend booked in February! ;-)
  20. Most of the crews there were fully painted and good looking despite no "all painted" rule for this one. I guess Malifaux is that kind of game, it inspires people to paint stuff :-) Maelstrom's scenery is great looking as well, its definitely one for the calendar.
  21. You haven't seen his card flips ;-) I swear I've never heard a man yell as loud as Nathan did when he won that box set :-D I'm in, got to get more Malifaux action! I'm demoing it at our club tonight so hopefully that'll be another potential player!
  22. Hi all! This is my second post here as I thought it would be appropriate to post first in the UK GT thread thanking Jo for all her hard work and a great day of Malifaux gaming. I currently play Resurrectionists with McMourning and Arcanists with Rasputina, although I may see Collette turning up in my collection sometime soon as I love the showgirls' playstyle having been introduced to them in expert fashion by Rob Owens at the GT. See you all on the boards! Rich
  23. Had an awesome time! Jo did a great job herding cats* and getting everything running smoothly:bounce: Deadly Doug did me proud! I had three great games against Ophelia (Andrea Davies), Lilith (Stu White) and Collette (Rob Owens). Out of the three I'd only faced Lilith previously so I got to face a bunch of new stuff which was very cool. The last game against Rob was an eye opener and no mistake! Rob is a very good player & Collette and her chorus line are awesome, I love their game mechanics! Job very well done Wyrd, it felt like my shambling dead were being danced around and couldn't lay a finger on them... I couldn't stop laughing the whole game, they were wonderful! In the last turn of the game I started it being in control of the scenario objective (a chest) back in my deployment zone, the girls were all just outside their own deployment zone. Rob won the initiative and the next thing I know the whole damn chorus line activated, took the chest off my poor little Necropunk and had it back over the centreline heading towards their own deployment zone in a jiffy! What the hell?!? It all came down to my last activation the game when McMourning had to get in there and do it for himself, flinging a bunch of scalpels in Cassandra's face (bagging me my Grudge scheme!) and picking up the chest to win the game when the card flip showed there wouldn't be a turn seven... But wait! The show must go on! I had to flip again and breathed a huge sigh of relief when the curtain stayed down! That was my favourite game of the day, better even than killing Lilith in turn one with a Chihuahua! (Sorry Stu, couldn't resist! Yes I did sleep well last night ) *That'd make a great Arcanist miniature for Marcus' crew - "Jo, Catherder"
