  1. I am a fairly new painter so coming from that perspective I can say that I love the GW washes and have enjoyed the paints as well. I find the GW paints a bit thicker than the P3 paints though. I've learned the value of using multiple thinner layers of paint (I use a flow medium mixture to thin mine) and find the P3 paints require less flow medium. On the other end of that I have used some of the $1 acrylic craft paint such as Anita's when I needed a metallic pearl and a few other colors I didn't want to have to mix up. I found much better results from those paints than I expected and was able to use the flow medium to thin them just as I did the GW and P3. With the Anita's craft paint I find that it is super important to get that protective coat of clear coat on ASAP as even on a primed model the paints can chip pretty quick. And I'm super careful with my minis so that's saying something. Most of all experiment and have fun!
  2. Thanks for the thoughts everyone. Sounds like Perdita will be just as fun as I thought she would be.
  3. I've read a lot of information about the various Guild crews and play styles. I'm running the Vickis and Rasputina now with Colette on order (I really hope she comes in soon!). I've had my eye on Perdita as I really like the fluff from the second book and, well her sculpt is awesome. I've never played against her as none of the regulars at my FLGS play her so I don't have a real life "vision" of her in action. Is she a good choice over, say Lady J, or Criid? Why or why not? I unconsciously have ordered all female masters and just this second realized that. Humm... I'm female so I suspect that played a role.
  4. I always try and run a minimum of 6ss to max with my Viki. I perform quite well with that range whereas I struggle when I do not. I do loose out on model count and usually have fewer models on the table than my opponent but having those extra stones makes up for it.
  5. I too really like the light blue dress. Nice contrast with her black jacket and hat. Also, great job on the base and hair.
  6. I've been wondering about the Marshals and Witchling as I've been eyeing a Guild crew (Perdita in my case). Good information. I believe I'll invest in both.
  7. We typically play 30 to 35 pt games and have typically 2-3 models outside of the box set. As an example if I'm playing with my Vicktorias I'll have a Ronin or 2 and may swap out Johan for the Convict Gunslinger. If I'm playing with Rasputina then I'll add Essence of Power totem and something such a molemen.
  8. I don't have a problem with rules before models because it gives me a chance to read and think about what I want in a crew before purchasing as well as give me a chance to proxy and play test something. Everyone has their preferences though and I realize some would rather wait longer for another book until the models are ready as well. I think getting the models from book 2 out first is what I would prefer and then yes I would absolutely love some additional options for existing models. As someone pointed out characters have changed some and reflections of that would be awesome as well as having options for Belles etc. If they were available I'd buy 'em for sure!
  9. I'm not performing well with my Gamin. I know it's just me and my play style. That being said I'm really loving my molemen with Tina. I'll second the list from bigstupidfighter. Sounds like a good Tina demo crew to me.
  10. I think I'll be making a visit to my local Michael's as I bet their cake decorating section has those little doves mentioned earlier. I'll make a cool base to put them on and paint them brass color to use as proxy's for now. Thanks for the ideas!
  11. Excellent stuff! I am so using these for my Theatre game table. Thanks for posting them.
  12. All this talk of Colette's Theatre has inspired me. I think that I'm going to attempt to make my own. Excellent stuff here for sure. I've decided to make my Star Theatre 3'x3' and have come up with a layout that when split in the middle in either direction gives a identical layout. My goal is to make it very playable so I wanted to make sure deployment would be even as well as possibilities for cover etc. Going this route will make it a little less cool looking but... I'll post pics after I get the basic foamboard layout finished.
  13. Like many others I have used white, grey and black. Typically I use grey or white. If I use white I often put a wash on after to bring out the detail so I don't miss it while painting. Personally I like the Duplicolor and Krylon sandable primer over the GW and P3 but that' just what I've had better luck with in my area which has a fairly high humidity. Lots of good advice here and nothing more I can really add except to agree that the best thing to do is experiment and you will find what works best for you on any given fig. Have fun painting!
