  1. Does anyone have suggestions on how to magnetize the modern super-flat 30mm bases? I'm carving out the resin bases I used on old models and inserting 2mm magnets, but for some of the new crews I'd prefer not to go that route (extra labor, resin dust, and cost for the bases). If there's a way to use the 2mm magnets with the new bases that would be ideal, but since I'm not expecting them to work I'll take any other suggestions as well.
  2. I played heavily in 1st edition, and intermittently in 2nd (local group disbanded) and am looking to get back into the game. At the end I was mostly playing Dreamer, Lillith, or Jakob Lynch, as a reference. We're trying to get a small group started again, and I've picked Lucas McCabe (TT affiliation) for my Master. I've got all the TT Wastrels to work with and a handful of Versatiles to choose from. I have no experience with 3rd Edition, no experience with Ten Thunders, and (of course) no experience with Lucas McCabe. Where could I find some good strategy guides or advice on how to play Lucas?
  3. My LGS (Indiana, US) has been unable to get any word from distributors about when rulebooks or faction packs will be available again so pre-GenCon orders can be filled.
  4. Same here. We tried to get Malifaux restarted when we found out 3e was shipping - but since people aren't receiving their orders they're giving up, and the FLGS staff are starting to get frustrated with being unable to answer all the questions about "when will my order get fulfilled?"
  5. Why should I re-buy the cards I've already paid for? Half my July pre-orders are still out of stock at the distribution level. For that matter, there seems to be plenty for purchase through Wyrd, but it never seems to make it off the webstore and into the hands of the LGS's that provide the gaming space for recruiting new players and running events.
  6. With the leak of 3e, Malifaux died off locally while people waited for the new edition. Now that it's arrived, and GenCon is out of the way I'd like to start up a league to bring people back and recruit some new players - but I don't really have any ideas about how to do so effectively. I would appreciate any suggestions for how to run a growth league that helps bring in new players, as well as re-introduces former players. I know of casual interest from 6-10 people, but I doubt all of them will follow through.
  7. The rule "Gunfighter: This model may use its ranged weapon for melee attacks." is completely clear and an absolutely obvious way to phrase such a rule . . . if that was how the developers desired the rule to work. The fact that we're on the 3rd rulebook and 6th book containing rules (and have a regularly updated website) without the existing rule being changed to something with a different result is a strong indication that the simple result was not desired, and they had to resort to a less elegant solution to get the result that was desired.
  8. Two more votes here for June 4th.
  9. I believe the start has been pushed back to June. That said, I try to get up there anyhow on Saturdays, so I can bring my Malifaux along as well if you'd like to get some games in.
  10. A quick search hasn't turned up any floorplans online, so I can't point to any specifics. That said, Cabaret was originally a combination restaurant/stage. I did have the opportunity to visit a French Cabaret a couple years ago, and while they prohibited photography inside, I recall that the basic floorplan was a large T-shaped stage, flanked by long tables. The perimeter of the room was elevated and featured more tables, although shorter (mostly 6 or 8 people, with the main floor seating 3-4 times that number). There was a balcony, although I did not get the opportunity to see what the seating arrangements were. To provide some additional scale, the stage was large enough to support a swinging trapeze act - if there was a platform there was only a single one, at the back of the stage.
  11. My LGS is getting ready to start an escalation league to build some support for Malifaux. At the moment, we don't really have any good ideas for how we should organize it. Has anyone here run a successful escalation league for Malifaux, and if so, what are some of the elements that worked well for you?
  12. If everything goes as planned I'll be there, although I haven't found anyone else to bring
  13. How long are the rounds, and what is the end time? It's a bit of a drive, but if it ends early enough being on a Sunday could still be doable.
