  1. I am considering some proxy tots myself, the 'real' ones look like cupy dolls to me. Reaper makes quite a few packs of assorted familiars, many of which look like imps and quasits, like this on: http://www.ebay.com/itm/3578-A-FEMALE-IMP-Reaper-Bits-Animal-Familiars-/330746608603?_trksid=p4340.m1850&_trkparms=aid%3D222002%26algo%3DSIC.FIT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D11%26meid%3D708933176410934409%26pid%3D100011%26prg%3D1005%26rk%3D1%26 As for young nephs, you might consider some of Reaper's succubi (especially Sophie, their mascot) they are obviously meant to be adults, but they fit the theme i think you are going for. Not a great fit, but doable. Freebooter Miniatures also makes some femal demon figures that might work for mature nephalim: http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/miniatures/freebooter-miniatures/54mm-chaos-demoness.html and there is also a freebooter succubus: http://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/miniatures/freebooter-miniatures/succubus.html
  2. Looks good! I like that you weren't afraid to use some bright colors, a lot of people are tempted to just paint all undead in drab colors.
  3. Many years ago, when I was a teenager, I had saved up my allowance and some money from odd jobs to buy the feathered serpent dragon for the Shadowrun game (a really huge and highly detailed coatle for those unfamiliar) and spent literally days picking out each individual feather in various bright rainbow colors. At the time, my little sister (now a miniature gamer herself) was only 4 and had an insatiable curiosity for all of my wonderful and forbidden possessions, and picked it up to look at/ play with while i was away, dropping it and smashing the delicate thing into dozens of pieces- several of which she lost in an attempt to hide the wreckage from me. I bring up the fate of that miniature every time she asks to borrow any of my figures, even though it was over 20 years ago.
  4. I have the bag of zombie dog for the Zombie!! game, and their quality is comparable to most of the D&D collectible miniatures (which is ok as long as you don't put them under too much individual scrutiny), but they are made of a softer grade of plastic than i usually like to paint and are WAY smaller than Malifaux figures. I have been considering using a few horrorclix "frothweilers" as canine remains proxies, but haven't compared their size yet. Reaper has a few dogs mixed into their familiar packs, which would be easy to zombify if you're willing to track them down.

  6. what master/ theme are you planning to use it with?
  7. If the tourney-legality matters you could always take a few female malifaux characters and cut them in half to make the mermaids... i'm not much of a sculptor myself, but i would think that a fish tail wouldn't be as hard to make as a lot of things.
  8. Well, since nobody else seems to have had any suggestions yet, i'll share my Mali-newbie idea. How about using some mermaid figures from another manufacturer (reaper makes a few decent ones) and paint them to look as if they were carved from wood? They would resemble the decorative figures from the bow of a ship.
  9. Well, everyone's responses have been very helpful... and I had no idea there was a rule about stackability! Maybe I'll just glue some pictures to the tops of 30mm bases, although I had imagined putting a few old Mage Knight figures under the blade to decorate them. Maybe I'll split the difference and use pictures with some small bits of MK figures to add detail without making the base too unstackable.
  10. I'm still gathering all the stuff I need to play, but figured I'd ask something. Do most people just use cardboard counters to represent the corpses for Nic and company, or should I use models of dead bodies for this sort of thing? I know they are refered to as corpse counters, but can miniatures be used instead?
  11. It's good to see there are some other players not too far away. Ever since our LGS went out of business a couple years ago the only miniatures games I see supported much here in Greeensboro are Warhammer (too expensive) and Heroclix (cool, but a different sort of hobby).
  12. Hi everyone. My name is Sean, and I live in Greensboro, North Carolina. I have been playing pen and paper role-playing games for 30 years, and tabletop wargames for almost as long. Although I am a veteran of many miniatures gaming systems, i am new to Malifaux and my first boxed set (Undertaker's Lot) arrived the other day. I can hardly wait to get started painting them!
