  1. There are several threads about it, and the general view is that Wyrd now seems to prefer the scheme to penalise a model, rather than for the model to penalise the scheme. So before you could pick Levi, and in the scheme pool of Assasinate, Deliver a message, Cursed object, Distract and Line in the sand, your opponent would really struggle because of your choices rather than anything they did. Now you know if Mark for death and Neutralise are possibilities before you build your crew, so whilst you might struggle, you are the player that had the choice before the game. You can still play Levi as you used too, and just acknowledge that on those occasions, you are just 3 points down.
  2. There are counters, and they are probably a case of learn to play with what you have. For example you said Misaki kills something not relevant and then dies. Pick her target more carefully. Trading her for 1 enemy model can be worth it, but only if its a worthwhile enemy model. If the pair of Archers are your problem, give her the Scout the field Upgrade, and Charge the archers. You won't need line of sight for the charge, and can ignore the blocking terrain for the move. Be prepared to hold it off until turn 2. You have a greater threat range than they have LOS ignoring shooting. Smoke and shadows and Torkage, let them go Defensive and try and stop Izamu. He'll probably kill them but it will take a little time. I like a Tormented Bishop, and he is a pretty good counter to Izamu for Jack Daw. Especially if you can get firing squad injustice on Izamu. If you don't think you are going to kill 2 peasants this turn, then decide if its worth killing 1. Sometimes waiting a turn and getting them both the next turn works out much better.
  3. In the long term, I would say that I am slightly more likely to need 6 spiders than a swarm. In the short term, what would probably work is assembling 4 single arachnids and a 40 mm base with 2 on it. (The really short term and cheapest option to properly make the choice would probably be make the 6 arachnids, and if they swarm together, place one 30mm base on top of a 40 mm base. If you use one of the Black plastic bases, it will standout from the rest of the crew quite well to tell it isn't a single spider)
  4. The other down side to the effigies is that Leveticus likes to be the first model to activate a lot of the time. If you are trying to give him all the effigy buffs, then your opponent is probably going to kill Leveticus (well bury anyway). Thats not to say that they aren't good, but they will require you to play levi in a different way.
  5. You pick schemes after you see the opponents crew. So they will know that you have no minions or peons before they need to select what they pick. I've personally not found the crew as a huge damage dealing set up. So its not always that easy to kill a hidden model each turn. Any master can select a crew of entirely enforcers or henchmen if they want, so the Crossroad 7 isn't that unique in that. ( Kills by your leader will count, unlike anyone else, but that might not be that many).
  6. They will give up 3 points garented if you run them in Arcanists with Hunting party as you won't have any minions or peons in your crew. I think on the whole the 2 embued energies are probably more useful than the extra card each turn. Embuded protection of Wrath is another option, as he is fragile.
  7. Welcome. You have a pretty good selection of models to build your crews from. I would suggest buying the general upgrades deck, as there are a lot of upgrades you will want to consider. (If you have other players locally you might be able to split it with them, as you'll only want the outcast section, at least for now). This will probably change your crews mlore than any other purchase for this price. Play a few games with what you have, and see how the games go. If you find the Viks are dying too fast, then the Libarian is a good option. The Child can also heal, or probably more commonly, cast the Ca actions that you have given to Vik of Ash with her upgrades. If you find that you struggle to get enough scheme markers down, or are generally low on bodies, then you might want to look at winged plague. I would personally suggest Hodgepodge Effigy before them, and probably also void wretches, but there isn't a truely right answer. But basically, try what you own, see where you are findign short falls, and we can easily suggest eitehr a model that forfills them, or ways that you might use what you already have to do it
  8. But to my mind the only difference between Transmortis and the Crossroads seven, was that the Transmortis box came out before the models were in a rule book (or to be honest a rules set) where as the Crossroad 7 already had rules out there. Otherwise, they are pretty similar. If you were tpoo look at them now, they are equivalent. They rarely sell models before they appear in a rule book (well since they have had a rule book anyway), but they did with JackDaw I think, Transmortis, and now Aionius. If the models for the encounter are balanced enough to be used in normal games, then they will be in a book. It makes life easier to tell people that all the models that are legal in standard games will be in a book and will give people a chance to see their rules somewhere before they have to decide to part with their cash. I don't see it as a limit, I bought the crossroads 7 before I had a chance to buy Shifting loyalties, just like I bought Transmortis before I owned M2E. Yes, we are not very likely to see a surprise release of models we don't know (but lets be fair, at the moment they are still catching up on back models, so they aren't going to have the gap in their schedule, that they did at the time the releases Transmortis (Everything except Avatar Hoffman was out, and there was a month or 2 before the new book)). In the future, who knows. If they have released everything by June, then the July release could still be a story pack from the book that will be released in August.
  9. Wraith can hire Malifaux child if you are playign Crossroads 7 at 50ss as an outcast, or at least 51 ss as another faction I think the main use of the child for Jack is to cast twist and turn to turn something else into a tormented model. (1 guilty then means you get 3 tormented models for the game) That and healing. Plus I can imagine the surprise when the Child "Borrows" Tormented Taelors Relic Hammer for an attack
  10. That doesn't stop it being in a story encounter pack - See The crossroad seven, or the Brotherhood of the Rat. And the Tortoise and the Hare shown here, whilst we may well see them in Book 4 (along with Aionus), they aren't going to be in a book by the time they are on sale. And they are scenario specific models
  11. Molly and Transmortis is certainly a playable set up to 50ss games. You have a range of figures, and those you don't hire you'll be able to summon during the game a little more than just to replace your losses. As you say, the molly box is full of support and scheme running, so probably needs some form of creditable threat in most games, which the students can provide. Assuming you play at 50ss you could be starting with all but 1 of your models on the table, so you have almost no ability to adapt crew to mission, but your crew should be able to be able to compete at any mission.
  12. Some crews excel in the being everywhere, others are better at controlling a smaller area. Ice Golem is one of the best models for putting out a credible threat in a small area, which is your opponent doesn't ignore armour, will take a lot of AP to put down. The challenge of the person playing the Ice Golem is to make that area important for the game.
  13. Its more histiorical. Back when they first made Outcasts they were all independent with no support. Thematically they wouldn't have easy access to soulstone, so they were all given (0) cache in the first edition.
  14. Gremlins have lots of combinations, its pretty easy to go with Lenny, to hand out the armor and Rams, plus Merris for the blast immunitys, plus Trixe for the initiative, and then a few models to actually take advantage of all that, and discover that you have an entire crew. But you don't need everything to play the game, or often even to do what you are trying to do. So yes, you probably are relying too much on overlapping effects. Unless having that many overlapping effects is fun for you., and you are happy with how it works in the game, then no you aren't relying on them too much.
  15. Have you considered Alyce, Desolation Engine, 2 Abominations. Student of Conflict. . You get 5 models. the Abominations get to go early and draw you cards from the Desolation engine. Alyce gets to re-activate the desolation engine and it goes berserk. Alyce has a fast walk, good shooting, good melee attack, the ability to summon models, and some great defensive tech (Bulletproof and snares make most attacking models unhappy). Then look to buy Taelor or a Ronin on the first week.
  16. Every model hit by 1 or more blast markers suffer damage of 1 level lower, so on a severe Snowstorm does 3 damage to the target (severe) and to every model hit by one or more of the 3 blast markers (Moderate) (It doesn't matter how many of the blast markers hit them they will suffer not more than the 3 damage). Emissary is a fine choice. But remember you get some mighty fine upgrades during the campaign, you might not want to waste their slot on the conflux upgrade
  17. I would recommend some form of large hitter. My Typical ones to consider are - Bishop, Taelor, Desolation Engine, Johan, Rusty Alyce. I will grant you the desolation engine is a very niche choice, and Rusty and Taelor are both only in crew boxes, so you might also want to look at The Strong arm suit, Lazarus and Hannah. You probably don't need more than 2 in a list. Other than that you have a decent selection of models to play at 50ss.
  18. Sommer can get a lot of use from it as a freshly summoned Bayou delivery system. Its very hard to stop a "get your bro" "pigapult" list scoring Reconnoitre and denying you scores from it (until you get into the gremlin engine anyway).
  19. Any action can benefit from focus. It gives you positives to your duel from that action. The summoning is a simple DUEL, so will gain the positives.
  20. From the FAQ 36) Q: What, exactly, is the Red Joker? What damage category does it count as dealing? What is the printed suit counted as? A: The Red Joker has a value of 14 and a wild suit, chosen by the player it belongs to when it is flipped or played. For all game purposes, the suit chosen by the player counts as having been printed on the card. Although the Red Joker deals an amount of damage equal to Severe plus Weak, it counts as dealing Severe damage for the purposes of any rules which reference damage categories (for example, Molly’s Revelation Attack Action would inflict Paralyzed on the target in the case of Red Joker damage, and Nix’s Weakness Ability would reduce the Red Joker to Moderate damage).
  21. I don't think I've ever seen Eternal fiend cause Juju to be unburied more than once in a game, and most of the time it doesn't get him unburied once. If he is off the table, you're down a strong model, and a lot of the time, I can dance around silurids and Waldgiest to not bring him out. And if they are about, I can probably kill them when he hits the table. Even going on your waldgiest trick, if I move my crew about so that Juju can't be placed in base contact with the Walgiest, he ends up back in his deployment zone (I think, thats how the rules work). And thats not such a good trade anymore. I like Juju, but I've had more success with him without buying eternal fiend.
  22. Blighted is the name of the condition. +1 tells you 2 things, Firstly that it is a condition that multiple levels of it stack (that's what it having a + means) and secondly what the current level of it is, 1 in this case everything after the : tells you what the condition does. so in the case of Blighted, it will increase the value of the blighted condition each turn. So if a mode has blighted +6, at the end of turn when you resolve conditions, you turn it to Blighted +7 (You have increased the value of the blighted condition by 1)
  23. Game 4 Flank deployment - Turf war A town square board Vs Ross and Seamus. Hunting Party, take prisoner, Mark for death, Convist Labor Jack load out (Hunting Party and Take prisoner) Sloth with Creeping Terror, Rusty Alyce with Tally sheet Johan with Oathkeeper Guilty Hodgepodge Wretch. Seamus with Bag of Tricks and Decaying Aura (hunting party and Mark for death) 2 Rotten belles Toshiro Jakuna Unmi with an Aura upgrade Shikome I deployed on the 2 wings of the flank. The Wretch and the hodgepodge were on 1 side, and everything else was on the other wing. Seamus started off by back Allying to the Wretch and then charging it, and after its inevitable death, he raised it as a dead doxy. Toshiro and Jakuna move up into the middle, and he tried luring my Guilty in to the fight. A tormented Rusty Alyce went on a rapid fire spree, and gunned down Jakuni pretty promptly, and Sloth moved into the turf area, hoping to start causing havoc with his slow aura. Turn 2 I discovered a Fast Shikome backed up by Toshiro is scary. It went after Sloth and left him pretty badly batters My Guilty nearly bit the dust, but my return strike took out the shikome with Alyce, earning me Hunting Party. Johan went after a belle and brought it low, whilst Seamus took out the Effigy. Sloth died later on this turn. Turn 3 saw Alyce kill the Doxy, and the belle die to Johan, but my guilty died as well, and then Ross announced hunting party as I had no minions left. I throw some attacks against Toshiro, but nothing serious. Turn 4 Alyce tried a foolhardy charge on a Belle, and spent the last of my stones on trying to Summon an abomination, but was not able too, as I had to use her other trigger to make sure I killed the belle. Toshiro killed off Jack, and Seamus went after Alyce. Turn 5 saw Alyce die, after being made insignificant, and I was left with only Johan left. On the plus side, thanks to Alyces charge last turn, Seamus and the last belle were away from Toshiro and earned me full points for Take Prisoner. Final result was a draw (9-9). Toshiro was surprisingly painful. The +attack flips removed Jacks defence. Prehaps I should have been a bit more controlly on him. In fact that was something I learnt was that over the course of the event I only put 3 cursed upgrades out, and it was firing squad each time, and it was back on jack by the end of the turn each time. A drowning injustice on him, and pushing him to the end of Johans Ml Range would make difficult choices for the opponent. I also played the Shikome attack against Sloth badly. I only had 1 crow, and it was the 12 of crows. My next highest card was a 9. I could have cheated the 12 on the first attack, and made it a tie, and ended the Shikomes activation. Mark for death seemed tough to achieve. In theory its 3 AP for 3 VP, which seems a decent return, but its not that common that you have the spare AP before you kill something that turn, and once you’ve marked something, your opponent knows you are after killing it. I should have not spent stones on trying to summon an abomination turn 4. I should have just hurt the belle, and gone for the turn 5 summon, and I might have kept Jack alive, and scored the full 10, as well as having a much better chance to deny 1 point., rather than the huge gamble to try and make him work for 2 VP, which he may have still managed. Only 1 of my 3 minions was killed by an enforcer or Henchman, but I still managed to concede 3 VP from the scheme because I wasn’t paying attention to it, in a way I would have paid a little more attention to Make them suffer. If I had tried to keep the guilty alive, then I would have managed to deny at least one point. Some of that was cunning play by my opponent, by using his master to eliminate minions in the first 2 turns, only leaving 1 left for Toshiro to kill without me realising he had the scheme. The new schemes seem interesting. The down side is that because I don’t know them, I can’t remember which they were, and in Game 3 I can’t really remember doing anything for scheme points, so can’t remember what they all were.
  24. In your example it would be Blighted +6, as conditions with a +x will add together. And this will be there as the models finish their attacks If it was then targettted by Hamlin, it has Blighted +6. At the end of the turn, when you resolve the conditions it will have Blighted +7. It gains the Blighted condition at the time of the attack. The condition itself, only does 1 thing, and that is increase the number of the condition by 1 at the end of the turn.
  25. Game 3 Against Tony on a village board Standard Deployment, Head Hunter Convict Labor, Exhust their forces, Make your mark, Explosives Jack Bishop – Oathkeeper Johan- Oathkeepr Lust Obdient Wretch Hodgepodeg Guilty Vs Vik of Ash – Survivalist, Sisters in Fury, oathkeeper Vik of Blood – Mark of Shezuul, Oathkeeper Malifaux child Bishop – Scramble Ronin Hodgepodge Montressor I was a little surprised to see the Viks deployed on opposite ends of the table. We debated which was the better Bishop build, and both agreed that on this sort of table, with little severe, the oathkeeper was probably better, but Tonys last game was on a swamp board and Scramble was amazing, but he couldn’t quite justify 3 oathkeepers in his pool. I set up in 1 corner with the effigy and the wretch nearer the middle. I managed 1 rat, and tormented Bishop and Johan. Bishop ended going off to Ashes side whilst Johan stayed to cover Blood. The rest sat sort of middling, with very little advancing from me. He needs to come and kill me, and I want as few Ap when he reaches me as I can get. Turn 2 saw the child put up fury. I wasn’t thinking and put a rat where it was just in range for an oathkeepered Vik of Blood to reach it on the charge and whirlwind onto lust. So she charged. And missed the rat. Twice. (I Red jokered the first df flip, and then he black jokered the second attack). Unfortunately melee expert finally put paid to the rat, and the whirlwind put 5 damage onto lust. I possible bit too soon and went and killed off Blood, and allowed Ash to come in thanks to her Oath keeper, and take advantage of her + flips takes to no friendly sisters near to hit Jack 3 times, and get the red joker for the last attack, not giving Daw any chance to survive. Bishop changed his plan slightly and went after the Ronin in the middle of the board. Alas, I failed to kill her this turn. He got pulled away by Montressor and this allowed the ronin to drop a scheme to get the explosives scheme for 2. Bishop with Scramble was able to get to the head marker that Jack dropped, thanks to scramble (I forgot he could reach it, so didn’t try and stop it). My Effigy managed to get Bloods head. Johan got to a place where he could charge Ash next turn, but thanks to the guilty, she couldn’t charge him. His effigy ran off down the un-opposed side now that my Bishop was in the middle. Turn 3. He decided to activate Ash before the child, and killed Lust and engaged the Guilty, but didn’t kill it. I managed to kill off Ash with Johan.. His Ronin went for a risky charge against Bishop, as he missed the first attack and went to hard to kill, but hit on the second and killed him. Scramble Bishop was able to charge Johan (again thanks to scramble, I forgot to include that in my mental calculations). Montressor was able to go and fetch a head. Hodgepodge dropped a marker well away from anyone else. To remove at the end of the turn for Marking his territory Turn 4 Bishop attacked Johan, leaving him on 2 wounds. Johan chose to flurry back, and managed to kill himself thanks to the cage fighter trigger. The few remaining Viks models were able to start collecting heads, the hodgepodge carried on dropping for points from Mark your territory. Turn 5 More of the same Viks won by a large amount Tony outplayed me. I spent too much time attacking models that had already been that turn, rather than models that hadn’t. Also, I had Rusty Alyce in the pool. She has snares. That Anti charge aura is going to steal at least 1 AP from each Vik in effect. I so should have picked her. I think I went Convict Labor and exhaust the forces, and managed a couple of exhaust points. I didn’t get a single scheme marker anywhere near the centre line. I also managed to both bunch up too much, and spread out too far. I looked at Mark and decided it was harder that Protect Territory. Tony made it seem much easier.
