  1. Here are the Official Gencon Tournament Rules: http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=11681 Malifaux Tournaments We're hosting 4 Malifaux tournaments during the convention, so if you're looking for a chance to cheat fate, join us. We'll be giving prizes for 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place, and best painted Crew. Please note that you must provide a painted Crew (except for miniatures released at Gen Con 2010 which must only be assembled, primered not required), and we'll supply the game boards. No proxies allowed. Strategies will be given for each round.
  2. I had it clarified before gencon mainly about corpse counters and mindless dead. You can have a ton of mindless dead on the board past turn 4 if you really wanted, but they have to be represented by mindless dead figures since they are released.
  3. Gencon Tournament rules. And other game systems. If you do something different at your lgs that is your decision. The main reason why proxies are not used is consistency and to use official products released by the companies (they are making money after all).
  4. Whatever is in the box I will buy it. Right now my LCB list with official models is a bit Scarce: LCB w/ Dreamer Teddy 9 Baby Kade 6 Doppelganger 8 3SS Left to play with I know most people don't care for the Doppelganger, but it is HILARIOUS when she mimics Six inch Teeth and your opponent starts to sweat like a prostitute in Sunday School. I will probably keep the standard LCB model as a collector piece. I really like the Large build.
  5. My thoughts on the box were the same as mentioned by Blank and Rathnard. C. Hoffman (obviously) Guardian Hunter 2 Watcher I'd like to see some sets start including character-specific totems so new players can see how they incorporate into the game.
  6. Why are we arguing over PROXIES?!?!?! Until the models are released you HAVE to use something to represent the model(s) in question. Since there is no "facing" in the game, what is stopping people from using regular game pieces out of any mass-produced board game and stick it to an appropriate base in order to represent the model(s) in question? Price and the "cheapness" of gamers shouldn't have been brought up. Besides, official Malifaux Tournaments MUST use the official model intended for play once it is released. Almost no company out there allows proxies for released minis in official events. EVER.
  7. After using many different paint brands I am the most impressed with P3. They flow smoothly, dry evenly, blend well, and you don't really need to do much multi-coating in order for a color to be consistent. They are a bit of like a candy coating, however, so they tend to flake at extremities from harsh use. To prevent that I use Testors Dullcoat spray. In all actuality, everyone should use Dullcoat if they travel around with painted crews regardless of paint brand. It saves your hours of work from having to be touched up and it takes 10 seconds to spray it on a mini. Even though I swear by P3 paints I still use their washes and metallics the most. They are top-notch.
  8. I have noticed that Von Schill by Himself WRECKS undead, but after that his major benefits go to other friendly models with him. I wouldn't call him a "brick" army, but the Freikorps work well when they tag team bigger models, they are not duelists.
  9. ....Um....Oops!?!?! This is what happens when you half-ass things on 3 hours of sleep!
  10. This will be a 25 SS scrap, 4 round tournament starting @ 730 pm. Entry fee is $5 and the event will be located at: Emerald City Comics and Collectibles in Clearwater, FL the address is: 2475 N McMullen Booth Rd Ste I, Clearwater, FL 33759 Phone: (727) 797-0664 If you are just getting interested in Malifaux not to worry! Demo games and Crews will be provided for those that do not own any crews yet.
  11. A bit off topic, but I agree that Con food is insanely expensive! My food of choice to keep me going and spending my hard-earned cash on "stuff" is protein bars. Throw 3 in your bag and you are good for the day. Now if we can just do something about the parking cost. $26 a day is just stupid!!!!
  12. Where: St. Petersburg, Fl When: October 22-24th Hosted by: ME! here is the website for a great local CON. http://www.stonehill.org/necmain.htm here is the page listing my events: http://www.rjritchie.com/necro/index.htm Looking forward to some Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater players attending. See you there!
  13. It is funny......I have all three! (hog whisperer, miss pack, chompy) JEALOUS?!?!?!?!
  14. I run ronin with my viks and i am glas they changed the run through rules. They were WAAAY too good for a mere 5 points with basically a free charge in and out of combat. It is a good, balanced change
  15. In many ways Bishop is my go-to guy! I have dropped a Steamborg Executioner in one on one combat with his measly damage output! He is very versatile in many situations and can easily act as a two for one model when you need him to. He is good at zoning, good at hitting, good at defending, and has 10 Wd. If I put him in an objective based game he can lock down an area by himself if need be. Yes, he is expensive, but every point is worth it.
  16. Here is a dumb newb question I need clarified: Can Nicodem make undead that have "Construct" in the title? The models being Flesh Construct, Necropunks, Desolation Engine, Steampunk Abomination. I believe that he can, but I just really want to make sure.
  17. We will be holding a Malifaux tournament on Friday, May 14th at Emerald City Comics and Collectibles. Location: 2475 N McMullen Booth Rd Ste I, Clearwater, FL 33759 Phone Number: (727) 797-0664 It will be a 30 SoulStone event. It begins at 6 pm. The event will be a $5 entry fee with the prize being a few merc figures.
  18. For me I have to include the Merc Bishop. He IS expensive but very versatile and REALLY good at wrecking some serious face! I definitely have to look at the gunslinger and Nino.
  19. Sweet! Just ordered Lady J and the Twins! Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think the Viks can be hired like normal mercs. The REST of the crew in their battle box can be, but I don't remember them having a SS cost.
  20. Does anyone know when the ACTUAL model is supposed to be released?
  21. Thanks for the input guys. My first army is the Death Marshals as well. I ordered the Witchlings because of their unique abilities..................and they look so damn cool! I also ordered the Viktorias for a second force and the fact that they would compliment the DMs with some solid beatsticks (Bishop and Taelor).
  22. Hey everyone. Just found out about Malifaux and I am ready to go! Just ordered Lady Justice and The Viktorias box sets to get started. I have played many tabletop mini games and RPGs over the years and I can't wait to get my crews together.
