  1. You've been playing it correctly. I assume you're referring to this (which is page 54 in the large rulebook): That's just a piece of flavour text. If a model can't be hired and may only be summoned, then it will say so on the card. For example, some cards have the ability "Unhirable". That said, some totems can be summoned, such as the Zoraida's Voodo Doll or Skeeters.
  2. I don't think I'd guess this was a Malifaux model but I still think it'll be a nice figure. Also there's not enough beards in Malifaux so this goes someway to improving that.
  3. I love Somer so I'll go with his box. Slop Haulers - He needs these guys in order to make his summoning work. Otherwise you've got a load of 2Wd Gremlins running about.Burt - Burt is a bit like Francois but without so much of the glass cannon aspect. He can use the Bayou Gremlins as pretty cheat Slippery targets so he's got some synergy with a Somer crew.Gracie - Gracie's meant to work with Burt and although I'm wary these days of gluing 21 soulstones together, Lenny loves to be saddled about as well. Somer's crew can have a busy Turn 1, with a lot of models bunched up, so this can help.

    People have compiled a list of Enthrall targets on PullMyFinger which you can read via this link. As of Shifting Loyalties, she can also hire Wind Gamin and Winged Plague although given Enthrall adds a Merc tax, you probably will not be availing of these options. It is indeed Living models only.

    Old Cranky

    Those of you who do run Old Cranky, what do you do with him during the game? Do you try to keep him as far back as the auras allow or do you push him up field while trying to block LoS? At Df/Wd 4, he seems rather squishy. Do any schemes/strategies make you choose him over Master-specific totems? I notice he's a peon but isn't Insignificant which obviously makes him interesting for certain schemes.
  9. Well, I'd say part of the reason is that Facebook's better for off the cuff comments and questions. On a forum, it feels like you're cluttering up the place by making redundant threads or committing the sin of threadnomancy if you want to talk about something that's already been discussed. I hadn't considered the potential problem with the change to Off Topic as well. That's really unfortunate.

  13. It doesn't have to be their nearest target, it just has to charge something (if there is a target available). Its their Stampede trigger which dictates they must choose the closest target.
  14. The piglet's mostly a bonus and it's arguably the best sculpt too. I like how it looks like an immature warpig, complete with tuft of fur running down its back.
  15. Lazarus is already a construct and therefore doesn't require the scrap to be dropped. Sparks can Wind-Em-Up straight away which is also the case with Survivors.
  16. Well that sucks about the lack of constructs but has anyone else figured out any good wind-em-up targets? I remembered last night that Bayou Gators have a (3) action that can cause paralysis. Sparks might make that easier to pull off although since I haven't used them, I'm not sure how valuable that action is.
  17. I was hoping to keep the Sparks+Lazarus thing under my hat until I had surprised someone with it but this faction's too crafty! Unfortunately, I haven't really thought of any great synergy beyond the original, very neat interaction; it seems most useful for an extra attack (mitigated by the fact there's no triggers, so things like Somer's Boomer aren't great). I'm wary of Metal Plating a master as well since they're not valid Wind 'Em Up targets for the next turn. Anyway, am I correct in thinking Lazarus is the only out-of-faction construct available to Gremlins?
  18. For an extra two soulstones, you get something which is slower, needs to flip just to shoot, has no Bayou Two card, no method of producing blasts, no Ram triggers (Lenny) and no Squeel. You do get armor, hard to kill (limited usefulness on a Wd4 model), 5 Ml, 2 . 1 Wp, and noticeably better damage spread. You also get their aura and a source of scrap markers when they die. The problem I see is that they're supposed to be more survivable yet they're going to lose duels more often due to lack of B2C and beyond hitting things, they don't really have any utility the same way Slop Haulers can heal, Lightning Bugs can use Tinkerin' etc. Perhaps their value comes from being able to lock things down a bit better and being Wind 'Em Up targets without scrap (while producing some). What do people think of their aura? Their original 6" range would have been incredible but probably a bit much and iirc, they gained 2 in exchange. At least know they don't need a moderate card, although it's still masks.
  19. Has anyone been proxying or otherwise playing with Gluttony? I'm very curious in regards to people's thoughts. I'm not sure how you're supposed to make the most of him. His threat range is quite small and I'm not sure whether that means you bring him upfield to catch people out or else you make him hang back to catch scheme runners on the way down. What schemes would make you take him? Also, am I correct in thinking that if he gets his song off on a scheme runner, they effectively can't place markers until the condition is removed?
  20. Those of you who do like Sparks, for which strategy and schemes would you take him and what would you hire with him? I'm not sure when taking Sparks to give Fast is better than just hiring another 7ss model like Raphael, Burt etc. What really benefits from Fast? In terms of crews, I could actually see taking the Lucky Effigy now since it can be wound up without scrap. I also think Lazarus could be quite scary since he could walk then Autofire. Maybe there are some interesting Mercs, Swampfiends or Enthralled models that we can bring in? Speaking of Zoraida, am I right in thinking that if Sparks is affecting enemies with Hostile Work Environment, they can't be Obeyed to attack friendly models? I'd say that scrap's probably better put towards making other models Constructs in case you want to wind them up. Potentially, 3 armor split among 2 models is better than one model with Armor +3. I could be wrong though, Lazarus would be quite hard to take down even with Df 4...
  21. Good question, actually this is something I've been wondering about. I find he either lags way behind because he's been using Toss or he gets destroyed easily by something or someone like, say Francicso. Even with to damage, he's only Defense 4. Unless you've got something to move him up (Trixi, Truffles), he's damn slow and I'm not sure I like having 21 stones moving up side-by-side via Gracie. I'd love to know what more experienced players do with him.

  23. Just for trivia's sake, Survivors give Poison via a trigger on their attack.
  24. I'd expect it'll be something like the campaign; something that utilises the existing models (there are quite a few now). I agree with Omenbringer, though. So much just dropped at Gencon and there's still a fair number of models unaccounted for. That said, I wouldn't say no to strictly non-Foundry robo-piglets or a new Gremlin construct for some Sparks synergy...
