  1. Finally a pic of Santana Sprue :) From what I've seen so far Mr Graves looks like the best cast from the new plastic batch, I'm glad I ordered him.

    Thanks for sharing that!

Mr Graves IS a sweet sculpt. Having them in my hands, I really don't know that there's a "bad" one in the bunch.

They really don't look like plastics to me, which is pretty awesome.

  2. Thanks, Ciaran. No rush - enjoy your time at Gencon.

    I have definitely done that.

I took pictures of all of the plastic Neverborn sprues. I'll have them up when I get home, I'm lacking a way to get the pictures online. It'll be either tomorrow night or Tuesday afternoon, my time.

I apologize if you were hoping to see them pre-ordering. I will say I think they're stunning plastics. They'll take some patience, and dry fitting, to put together in some cases, and look to be VERY well worth it.

  3. Really wanted to try the demo while at gencon. Everytime I wandered past on Thursday it was busy. Hopefully next year I can stay for more then one day.

Yeah, Thursday is crazy busy. Even today it would sometimes take a while to get into a demo. Sticking around a day or two would be a ton of fun. There really is a LOT going on for just one day.

  4. There is a two page rubric in the book that let's us know exactly what each master can hire as Ten Thunders, then as the other faction.

Looking over it, yes to the archers and ninjas, no to the golum.

There's a lot of nice overlap, not everything is going to be available though.

  5. I'm having trouble with the seams on hungering darkness, can't seem to get his two halves completely together with the mouth piece between them. I can actually see through it if i'm looking at it straight on. Anyone else having this problem?

I haven't started building yet. Looking g at the model, I would suggest removing some of the material from the outside of the the inner mouth piece. If I understand you correctly, that should take care of the seams not lining up with the mouth piece in place.

These are REALLY crisp models, I'm pleased with the sculpts!

  6. I'm not a playtester but PM me too :). Are they not selling the re-release puppet wars starter box at gencon, and if they are why isn't it also for sale online over gencon weekend? Also will the multiplayer booster pack be redone or is it just the starter box that's going plastic?

No, they're not for sale at GenCon. They're a while out yet from what I understand, from helping at the booth.

  7. I have a surplus of harder green floral styrofoam at my place. The old tenant of our house was very into hideous fake-floral arrangements and left a lot of her supplies-- including a GIGANTIC, suitable-for-all-sorts-of-gaming table-- behind. I can do the rough-hewn stuff pretty well, but will your carving tools help with this material as well?

I haven't had good experience with it. I'm staring at a couple of big blocks in my room, and I'll likely only stare at them until I pitch them.

My hot wire wouldn't cut the material at all. It left a little bit of a mark on the surface, and that was it. It's also really "crumbly" in that you can easily put your thumb through it. I think it will will break and tear really easily, making it one of the less durable materials out there.

For my own peace of mind I just grabbed the floral stuff and tried putting pressure with my thumb. It sounds, and feels, as though the cells (which normally would hold water I guess) started collapsing. The pink foam that I also tried it on wasn't affected at all.

Now that the cons are out of the way... There's a part of me that thinks we might be able to get away with shaping it. We'd have to use sharp blades and tools, and be prepared for it to collapse a bit while being worked. After it's shaped maybe a coat of wood glue would help protect it. If we could get the glue into the cells it might work out pretty well. I'm not sure though...

  8. Fellas in the office seem to like Guerrilla Glue.

This is the only superglue I use for models now. It's a high impact glue, so I haven't had a model fly apart when hitting the ground. In my experience it also stays where I want it, rather than getting everywhere. It's thicker like a gel superglue, without the brittleness issues I find in gels.

I DO still use plastic weld, Testors makes a great glue container with a sweet nozzle.

Yeah... it sounds like I was trying to chat up glue now :/

  9. Hi! Miss me???

    No, not really :P

Starting to pack! I also bought a couple of new game books to bring with me on my flights!

Outbreak: Undead looks to be the winner for the coveted spot of flying over the Pacific.

'Fell, how's Georgia? Also, JordanCon is right outside of Atlanta at the end of April. Just so y'all know...
