  1. Nice stuff! I believe you've convinced me to buy Snowstorm.
  2. Not bad at all. What did you use for the snow? Looks fairly realistic. I like the idea of snow on the ice golem, I was thinking of trying it too but didn't want to ruin my paintjob if the snow didn't turn out right.
  3. Good job! I really like the metals.
  4. That Wendigo does look really nice. I have the same problem with pics and if it looks that good in the pic then it likely looks amazing in person. You are right that Wendigo is a nice model. To me the wendigo looks great the only thing I think might need color is the base itself. Maybe stalks of wintered grasses (brown and dead stuff) poking up near or through the snow in very select places?
  5. Hey fellow hockey fans! I've been a rabid Sabres fan for the past 36- 37 years or so (since I was 3 or 4). There was a time up here in Canada ( Southern Ontario) when the Sabres were televised almost like a home team with 2 or 3 games a week on TV. Of course that was 20 years ago or so, now I only see them play a couple times a year. I'm not going to say that this is the Sabres year to take it all. Each year I keep hoping but they never pull through. I'll settle for a decent playoff run though
  6. Ciaran : It does sound like the OP just went too drastic in the stages needed to obtain the results he was looking for. Drybrushing grey as stage 2 after painting black, I think would be too much, I'd rather use a combination of black/grey or brown might look nice too as you suggested. I'd build up to the higlight in a few layers gradually adding more lighter colour each time using thin layers which helps blending. I'd rather not drybrush at that point either but blend thinner paint. I also found that the wash stages near the end sometimes eliminated alot of the highlighting tending to make everything look black again if not thin enough or done in too many wash layers. I think ink might not be as good in this stage as just watered down very thin black paint. You can always experiment on a few extra models and see what looks best.
  7. I start black then mix a little grey into it blend for highlighting. Then add some white (just a little for further highlighting). Then I wash down with very thin watered down black. I don't like to use ink as it's kind of shiny. I may do that a few times to get it right. I take some white after and lightly dry-brush the very highest areas. It came out pretty nice on my lady J crew, giving them a little bit of a dusty look thanks to the dry-brush last stage(which I did a little too heavy on some areas. I would advise washing that down again after.) http://wyrd-games.net/forum/showthread.php?t=13927
  8. Looking for any (or all ) of the following Peacekeeper Guild guards scales of justice Austringer 1? (the guy with the hat) Have : Viktorias box set- some primed white (lightly) and some assembled. base tabs taken off a couple for resin basing Bishop has a first thin base coat of flesh Rusty Alice -bare metal
  9. That thing is huge! It's going to be a terror in the game too I'll bet. Looking really good so far.
  10. Nice minis, I think the three ladies are particularly well done.
  11. My first Malifaux minis, yet to see any play in the game but hope to change that soon. Not the greatest pics but anyways... Close up of the bases, these are the trench bases from Dragonforge they come in 30mm, 40mm and 50mm. I have a 50mm just waiting for me to do a Peacekeeper up, once I get it....
  12. I really like the Malifaux line. That said there is something I would like to see and that would be more male leaders. Particularly for Guild. Don't get me wrong these leaders Guild has are very hot models. What I'd like to see one day is a strong male leader similar to Kreoss.
  13. Actually from experience I can tell you that those parched earth bases are awesome. I've done my whole Protectorate of Menoth army on them and they look great. ($100+ later though) This I did after trying the green stuff and sharp knife idea you are having. Maybe I'm not the best with it but it just didn't look as pro as the dragonforge cracked earth does. They are not cheap though, but you get what you pay for. With Malifaux the low # of minis makes the price not too bad either. Thanks for the input on the trench bases. I'll definitely be getting them for my guild.
  14. These are called "trench bases" to me they have a very oldwest feel to them. Thinking of using them for my Guild's bases. Elsewhere on the site the "lost empires" I'm thinking of using for my outcasts. Any opinions or other suggestions on these? http://dragonforge.com/for%20sale%20images/dforge%20items%20for%20sale/Gaming%20bases/trench%20boards%20round%20lip%20base/30mm%20trench%20board%20round%20lip%20base%20set%201%202.jpg
  15. Ya, it would be a good idea to take that word out. First time I looked on here I thought that the minis came with the nice scenic bases in the pic of the model, until I realized those were sold seperately. I guess it can be said though that the round lip bases are premium compared to the ones that are just flat. Thanks for the replies.
  16. Hi, Just ordered my first Malifaux minis (Viktorias box) and I am eager to get going on the bases even though I don't have the minis yet. I do happen to have some of Privateer's 30mm round lip bases kicking about. How close do the style of these bases compare to wyrd's "premium" bases given in the model's description? Thanks.
  17. That was a fun read. Very enjoyable.
