  1. I've started to play Pandora recently and I've grown to appreciate the strengths of the box set. The Sorrows work really well (extra Dg from failed Wp duels) and Candy, with +1 Casting Expert, is very nice for causing additional Wp duels. All in all, I find this box runs really well for 25SS games (unless your strategy is Reconnoiter.) I really want to start running Teddy with Pandora, but I'm wondering at what point the rest of you find Teddy meshes well with her. I suspect that 25SS games are too small to bring in Teddy. At 30SS I may want to squeeze him in - my initial plan would be to replace Kade. That would Teddy as the only front line melee fighter (albeit a very nasty one), but I prefer the Sorrows and Candy to Kade for the reasons listed above. At 35SS I think he'd really start to shine because you'd have lots of other minions to support him. So, my question is at what point (scrap size) do you start to run Teddy with Pandora? What other minions do you take to flesh out your crew?
  2. Welcome, Blackmore. I'd agree with Tonytone's advice about Lilith - she is probably the easiest Neverborn Master to learn. That said, Pandora is a lot of fun once you get the hang of her. If you're already leaning toward Pandora and you like Teddy then I'd suggest you just give her a try. There are several good threads in this list discussing tricks and tactics for using Pandora's crew. I've recently started to play her more myself and I've really appreciated the advice from other members. Pandora's a lot of fun once you start to get the hang of her.
  3. Thanks for the Battle Report. You're style makes for a fun story.
  4. Oh, I'd missed that! So, Hard to Wound doesn't affect the damage flip from Self Loathing. Very nice!
  5. Karn, that was great. Thanks for taking the time to write up your hints about how to play Pandora. In particular, I'm grateful for the advice about facing Perdita. I've played a couple of games against her with Pandora now and neither has gone well. My best showing was when I focused on Perdita from the start and cheated and spent soulstones to make her life difficult. It almost worked, but then she managed to shoot Pandora in the face. I should have chained Pacify/Incite to get away from her, but I didn't manage it. Up until now 've been playing with the starter box (Candy, Kade, Sorrows and Pandora), but I'm going to start using Teddy with her now too. Would you suggest swapping out Kade and a Sorrow for Teddy in a 25SS game?
  6. Whoa, I'm late to this party, but I wanted to extend my appreciation to Weird Sketch too. Thanks, dude! BTW, Do you ever leave your computer? You're always right there with quick answers to all our questions.
  7. Thanks, Karn, for the thoughtful write-up about the combination of Hamelin and Pandora. I found it quite useful. I haven't had the chance to run Pandora yet, but I've finished painting up her crew and I'm ready to give it a try. Tonytone, you indicated that you would prefer to take Teddy with Pandora (over Hamelin) when facing the Guild. Could you explain your reasoning behind that? In particular, what tactics do you employ specifically against the guild? The reason I ask is that I know I will have to face Perdita and the Ortegas when running Pandora (a number of people I play with run Perdita.) I'm still trying to figure out how I'll keep Pandora and her crew alive in the face of the ranged attacks and still have the ability to stop Perdita's boys. Does Teddy give you the extra punch, or is he more resilient in the face of ranged bombardment? Do you have any advice?
  8. I sympathize with what Karn's saying. I know Lilith's ability to move through impassable terrain seriously annoyed some of my opponents. But, I liked the fact that she had an improved version of Scout that gave her great flexibility in movement. I think the change hurts more because of the addition of the change in blocking terrain rules that means Illusionary Forest no longer blocks LOS for models on either side of the forest. I tend to play a lot against Perdita and get shot to ribbons most of the time. The Forest that could provide a little extra cover to block LOS for most of Perdita's crew combined with Lilith's movement abilities gave me a better chance of surviving long enough to get into melee. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining - I'm not. This is my period of initial surprise as I rethink my strategies. Having to do that is not a bad thing, but first I need to let go of some of my old techniques and come up with new ones. I'm sure I'll find new ways to use Lilith that will be fun and allow her to be as dangerous as ever. For now, allow me a brief period for grieving... (shedding a tear) ... Ok, now let's battle!
  9. I have a quick question about the Razorspine Rattler's Venemous Spines. Are they really "venemous?" I'm asking because I see that there is no suit associated with the CB for Venemous Spines so I don't see how they could accomplish the two suits necessary for Poisonous, which requires :tomes and :crows. So, is there a typo or are these spines not really venemous? Am I misreading something here? Thanks.
  10. So, I've had a discussion with some friends about Lilith's ability, "Master of Malifaux." We're wondering whether this ability is broken. In particular, we were wondering whether it should allow her to charge through walls. I'd have to say that at times I find this ability to be really helpful when trying to move her into melee combat without getting shot up by those shooty crews (especially Perdita.) I know I'm posting to a biased group here (the Neverborn board), but you guys have probably encountered these questions yourselves. So, knowing how you use Lilith's Master of Malifaux and how your opponents respond to this ability, what do you think? Is this ability fine as is, or do you think it should be readjusted in the upcoming FAQ?
  11. I have a question about assembling Marcus. He comes with extra pieces so that you can either attach an empty hand or a hand holding the flame. There is also a sword that you could put into the empty hand. I looked at the picture of the model in the online store and it shows Marcus holding the flame. Have any of you assembled him with just he empty hand? What have you done with the sword. I wanted to try to affix the sword as though it was strapped across his back, but I haven't figured out how to do that. Any suggestions? Thanks.
  12. I like that hanging tree mini too. However, I'd be interested in seeing Wyrd come out with minis of their own some time in the future for the hanging tree, as well as for the monument and for mysterious effigies (other bits of element terrain.) I appreciate the fact that they encourage us to make use of other minis, but I'd like to see their take on what these things might look like.
  13. So, this is a rather silly question, I suppose. I'm trying to figure out how to attach the flame to the top of Pandora's box. The more I look at it, however, it seems too big to me and it seems to get right into Pandora's face. I suspect I'll trim the flame down a little to make it smaller, but I wanted to see if any of you had tried something different with Pandora's flame. Since it comes as a separate piece I figured others may have tried different things with it. So, any suggestions?
  14. The Mature Nephilim also has heavy parts that need some extra support (his wings) or parts that leave gaps (his head.) Green stuff served the purpose for both, however, and I didn't need to do any pinning. His wings are on securely and the gaps are filled in his back and his head is on nicely and it makes it look like he has a bit more of a neck.
  15. I have a couple of quick questions about the Terror Tot's Brood. First, does it count as disengaging if a model moves out of combat for Brood? Also, when moving does the Walk happen in a straight line, or can you steer around terrain obstacles (low walls, for example) to try to get closer to your target? This seems like a great ability to advance your Nephilim up the field really quickly, but I'm going to have to work on how to use it well - rather than just walk myself faster into the line of ranged fire!
