  1. Really nice work. Sometimes this forum is very humbling.
  2. I've been playing the following 30 pt list: Crew Cost: 25/30 Remaining: 5 Soulstones: 8 Lilith, Mother of Monsters 4 Terror Tot Nephilim x 5 15 Mature Nephilim 10 This is a super fast army but very simple. I'm liking the Doppleganger and Waldgeist synergies with Lilith but it seems like at 30 pts it would be either/or to get more Soulstones. Your current list leaves you 4 stones did you find that to be sufficient?
  3. Glad you guys got a kick out of the "Flaming" Tots! For the Tot bases: - print out a picture of lava - cut out circles to fit in bases - put circular lava cutouts in the bases - fill recessed part of base with 5 min epoxy - Position mini in epoxy, hold and wait... - wash top with yellow, red and orange It was an experiment, I was hoping the epoxy would act like a lens and make the 2D image "fill" it. I think it worked out pretty well...at least I'd do it again The only annoying part is holding the tots in place while the epoxy dries.
  4. Here are a few shots of some Malifaux inspired buildings I've been working on in the last few months. Unfortunately a few of them are being defiled by filthy Menites.... http://www.rookscomicsandgames.com/gallery Materials used include: -blue foam -foam core -bass wood -spackle
  5. Cool! Really enjoyed reading both. I especially like the turn-by-turn at the end of the first one. Very helpful from a strategy perspective.
  6. Those look great man! Agreed on the last flame highlight step and also maybe some lighting effect from the flames at the cracks in the stones... I'm in the process of deciding on my Lilith box paint scheme. In particular trying to decide if I want to go with blue or red skin tone on the nephs. The red looks good! By the way, I've heard people talk about using cork before. It looks like the "stone" part is cork, correct? Is there a particular source (type) of cork that works best or do you just use what ever is available?
  7. Thanks for catching that....should be fixed now.
  8. Thanks for the reply. When I first started painting minis I saw someone lick the brush and I thought, "man that's not right." Then one day I found myself doing it too and at that moment I realized my obsession with painting had grown What you say about your highlighting and shading approach makes alot of sense. I actually never thought to break it into two parts like that (highlight/shading then blending). I think that may be why I have difficulty achieving the level of contrast I want. I spend too much time trying to make the blending do the highlighting and shading as opposed to establishing "zones" and then blending between the two... Now I want to ditch work and go paint! Time to order a Lilith Box!
  9. Great stuff, hope to see more tips like this in the e-zine as well. +1 e-zine articles! Being new to the hobby I have a few simple questions that I'd love to see discussed. For example: 1. Do you use mixing medium at all? 2. Do you typically go dark to light or light to dark. For example, the Death Marshal's Pine Box (the one that's crouched on top of the pine box) is hi-lighted toward the Death Marshal and darker near the lock and chains. So far it seems easier to go dark to light but sometimes I find it better to go light to dark...usually when I accidentally lighten things up too much
  10. Characteristics have been added to the models. I don't have the Johan/M&SU exception in yet. Probably will just a "M&SU" version of Johan at 1 pt less. Obviously this is not the AoI or Tabletop Commander of Malifaux but hopefully it helps a bit with trying out some ideas and saving your lists ;~) Thanks for all the input so far guys!
  11. Well, after priming some more models and terrain pieces (trying to use it up!) I still stand by my original post. Could just be personal preference though... However, I really like the P3 paints too. 90% of mine are P3. They need to switch to droppers though! Hell, I'd even pay $1 more if they'd switch to dropper.
  12. Great idea! Nice terrain too. Looking forward to more updates.
  13. Most of these things are possible, just not as easy as they could be: You can load a different faction in the control panel and then add the models to an existing crew. So, for the Nicdem/Killjoy example, add Nicodem, switch to the Outcast list then add Killjoy at 11 instead of 12. Some of the items listed will require better auto filtering. But this means that the models would need to be filtered based on Master, not faction. Something to think about...
