  1. cheers for the replies guys.

im looking at knocking up some terrain at the moment.

what would be the best stuff to do?

I take it im gonna need a lot of scatter terrain?

    cheers

    vietnow

Yeah, lots of little stuff works well. Low walls or ruins/rubble is a staple on our tables. Small chunks of forest are good too, depending on the theme you're going for.

  2. The smaller table size and model count added with lots of terrain make for a very tactical game. If you limit yourself to a Warmachine/Warhammer mentality regarding terrain you'll find the game swings to the advantage of ranged lists.

Absolutely. When we started, guild was positively dominating our local scene because of all their ranged stuff. But once we got a propper amount of terrain, things evened out quite a bit.

  3. thanks for the welcome

@werecat: looking at guild or archanist I think, though somne of the neverborn look a bit tasty. Not sure, hoping to start with a friend so I;ll decide with him, might get 2 crews to start with.

Ah, no love for the Resurrectionists? :D

Good choices though. In my opinion, Guild has some of the best masters in the game. But with the new stuff they got in Rising Powers, both Ramos and Rasputina are looking MEAN. I might have to pick up Ramos one of these days.

  4. Right-o

    Examples:

Nicodem can have two vultures (his unique totem), the grave spirit (generic totem), or the Necrotic machine (another generic totem found in rising powers) McMourning can also take the grave spirit and Necrotic Machine, but has the Zombie Chihuahua as his unique totem. Seamus is the same with the Copycat killer.

All is detailed wonderfully in the rulebook.

  5. This system will not work. Not only is the Paper>Rock>Scissors arguement, but a good player who know how to activate and cheat fate can basically ignore these tiers.

I think you might be missing the point. This isn't really for veteran players. This seems to be more for new players, to get an idea on where they want to start, and how difficult the various masters are to start learning with.

  6. On the plus side, I can potentially start the game with 2 x viktoria and 4 x ronin at the table at 25ss and end up with 5 viktorias on the table :D Sounds like it might be fun!

    I'd bet a dollar that you can't...

  7. The McMourning starter is one of the worst right out of the box, but with just a few additions it's great.

Two packs of canine remains is just the ticket. They'll leave corpses, can be cut up for body parts, and are quick to grab objectives. They're great with the drugs from the nurses, since you really wont mind when they die.

The box will give you a flesh construct to summon, but it never hurts to have a second.

3rd, the zombie chihuahua is huge for him. A free body part every turn is sweet. And only 1 stone!

After that, the punk zombies are a good buy, as is the convict gunslinger (probably the merc your friends mentioned)

Good luck man! I started with McMourning too. He's a LOT of fun.
