  1. Having lost all my unit cards as a result of a house fire, will they be available for purchase at GenCon?
  2. Any body know what the deal is, as this games uses familiar style dolls as those found in the puppet deck and rulebooks? Is it the same illustrator that does the dolls for Wyrd? Sorry if this has been brought up before, but I got curious about the article I saw in the Ancible.
  3. Congrats as well, and you got my vote. Expansion book will have to be real good to beat out Human Sphere for next year's vote.
  4. As I've been exploring RPG systems I've came across the Fate system as represented by Spirit of the Century (though I'm looking at Starblazer Adventures now). It does have an interesting system of Aspects and Stunts that fit in with the very characterful stats that Malifaux uses. An SRD for SotC can be found here: http://www.crackmonkey.org/~nick/loyhargil/fate3/fate3.html . As Fate uses a -/0/+ dice mechanic to modify skill levels, and just by assigning a value to the cards you could use them instead of dice. Probably a mechanic for the jokers could spice up the sucesses or failures. Soulstones could translate to Fate points, but they aren't as finite as they are in the miniatures game. Give SotC a look, as I'm still studying the system as well, it looks like a good fit from what I've seen.
  5. Right off the bat, I'm not a great miniature painter, but I do try to be more than just table-ready. I decided to stretch my meager brush skills on the Miniatures from Malifaux and my first crew, Victoria. Viktoria Bounty Hunter Bishop Johan Taelor Now working on Hans, Convict Gunslinger and Ramos' crew too.
  6. I got mine built, and it's very sturdy. My method was posted here http://wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?p=97224#post97224 . I used for the front legs the ones with the tang on the feet. I'll see if I can post a picture here.
  7. Put together my Steamborg today, and decided against pinning his legs to the body. Instead I made sure one leg was securely glued before the next step. I still had to figure out how the Steamborg was going to fit on the 50mm factory base I found. Once the first front leg dried, I was able to start visualizing his orientation, and I found a hole to put the toe of the first of the back legs into, and cemented the leg for support. I then put glue in the socket and the toe of the front leg and carefully manipulated the legs and body till they got where I wanted. Then I held the assembly for 15-20 minutes (I don't use zipkicker) until the glue set. After setting, the assembly was firm enough for the short time it took me to glue the other back leg to its pin and the toe to the base. I only had to hold this leg for a couple of minutes, so I could set the miniature down for the 15 minutes to cure before I put on the other front leg. After thr first application cured I reinforced the joints with another drop of glue. So now he is ready for priming and painting. The body is just a bit more upright than the pictures I seen of the miniature, and all four legs are supporting him.
  8. Sorry bout the minor threadjack. How are things at Ft. Lost-in-the-Woods, Misery. Was stationed there over 25 years ago for basic training, and I didn't get to see much (or too much) of the post while there. Of course, after the passage of time my memories have become kinder about the place.
  9. Duplicolor Sandable Primer is what you need to look for, and it is what I prefer, but I'm using a can of Rustoleum sandable primer now. I'm satisfied with the finish, but I'll go back to Duplicolor when this one runs out.

  11. This is what I think the main issue with the Steamborg to start with. The miniature was cast in a pose that requires a sculptural base. And if you wanted to mount the figure on a flat base you would have to do alot of modifications to the legs to get them to look right. I haven't started building mine yet, and the base I'm planning on using isn't flat, but it isn't a stair step either (more of a shallow V shape) . Has anyone tried the various (24) configurations to see which gives the flatest stand?
  12. Annnnd, I picked up the crew last night. Once I finish the Viks crew, I'll start on Ramos.
  13. Grognard gamer that found Infinity as the game I've been waiting my life for. I have all the Yu Jing miniatures and most of Pan-O, Nomads and CA. I've played several games and run demos and events. But it was 40K Rogue Trader that got me into miniatures. Most other Sci-Fi miniature games just didn't interest me, though I did dabble with Cybertronic in Warzone. Got into and out of 40K, without dumping my armies, and even though I've still got an itch, I still haven't bought into the 5th edition. Malifaux, of course sounded fun enough to become an exception to my fantasy gaming prejudice, but that may have more to do with firearms being involved than melee and magical combat. Close to finishing my first crew, and still have to play my first game I've been collecting some Dark Age as well, and have played one game. What I wish I could get into is RPGs, but time constraints and not being in a regular group sort of limits me to just being a rules collector. My current reads are: Rogue Trader/Dark Heresy Eclipse Phase CthulhuTech Starblazer Adventures Burning Empires Plus too many more to list.
  14. I voted for the Viktorias as well, as they can be used by most of the other factions. While I personally want to get into the M&SFU, it does seem to be difficult to use the starter box without major modifications. I was not disappointed, upon study, the capabilities of the Viktoria crew, even though it was one of the remaining crews left to purchase.
  15. Well it's not Ramos and mechanical horrors I had planned on, but I don't think getting the Viktorias is a bad start. Johan is someone I can use when I do get the Unionist set. And I did read the threads on playing the pair, so this could be interesting. Got the crew assembled, and will be priming and starting to paint them tomorrow.
