  1. NO!!!!!! Sweden just lost... :wallbash: :dead:
  2. On some other forums, people are discussing if games should be played with painted or unpainted models. But that’s not the question I’m interested in, because I already know the arguments of both sides. The question I’m asking is: When is a model painted enough to be played with? More background to the question: One argument for painted models is: I want the battle to look good. And the main argument against requirements for painted models is: I don’t have time/skills to paint, am I not allowed to play then? I agree with both sides, and therefore I want to find a middle ground that can be agreed upon by most players. That a model is painted is not a guarantee that it looks good. The skills are very different, and it’s also a matter of taste. What I think is that you want the impression that the armies/crews is painted. When someone put an unpainted model on the table it ruins the illusion of the cool battlefield. But if you have painted the armour, weapon and skin of the model (and maybe some easy dry brushing) and you look at the table you get the feeling of the 20 winter guards running forward on the battlefield. Off course, a master class completed army is much nicer to look at, but this way hopefully nobody gets angry for playing against a completely unpainted army. And everyone is able to paint the basics with a small amount of both time and money. And the best thing is that you can continue painting your models until they are finished. But I guess that’s only work when you paint “one colour on ten models at the same time”… Rule-wise this is the “three colour rule” that many people don’t like because of the abusive behaviour of the gamers that just put two dots of colour on the shoulder pads… But that kind of abusive behaviour will always be used by a small amount of gamers no matter what the rules you use. If you want you opponent to field an all painted army: What is the least amount of painted army you would see on the table? If you like to play with your unpainted army: What is the most amount of effort you feel you want to make to satisfy your opponent? As a start I include a picture of some of my models. Everyone except Butcher (the large man with the axe) are completely painted (according to my standard). Butcher is painted with three colours I I wouldn’t really be ashamed to use him in a battle. Well, maybe a little...
  3. I'm a Henchman. I wonder if I can use soulstones? I will try when I get home from work and then I can tell you.
  4. Canada will win the final against Russia. And Sweden will beat Finland and get the brons medal. (Belarus, USA, Slovakia and Czech Rep will get beaten in the semi) Now you don't need to watch the olympics.
  5. My real name is Thomas Sjöstrand. But not every forum use the letter Ö, så I changed it to "sjostrand". Since Thomas is a very common name for boys born 1972 in Sweden, I was called Sjöstrand a lot. And now i use it online. It means Lake Shore (but I used to translate it to Sea Beach...).
  6. I also use dice. I works very well and I don't like to laminate my cards. And for everything you have more than you have diffrent cards, it gets a little complicated to mark it on the cards. (Belles, Hoar cats, Sabertooth, Gremlins at the moment) But I don't like to use dice in the game (even it's work very well). If it would have been numbers on the Confrontation wound markers I would have used them. At the moment I am looking at some small tokens with numbers on them (preferebly more than one number per token (like a die...)). As corpes tokens I have made som 30mm bases with parts of plastic skeletons on. Scrap tokens will be made when I need them. As soul stones we use "blood" from VTES (glass pearls).
  7. I'm putting the Nicodem box together. But sadly one of the punk is missing an arm... :frusty: And I'm finishing the painting of the Zoraida box, 4 gremlins, Candy, Santiago and a Flesh Construct. And I have started to figure out how I want my Malifaux Ranch Board to look like. Now I just need to decied what material to use... And I guess I need to shrink the size of the barn... Does anyone know when they started to use Aermotor Windmills at farms in the real world? I think they look cool, but I guess it's more of a 1920s feeling about them...
  8. I agree with all of you. I put them up here so we could tweak them together.
  9. I allready see that something needs to be done to "Rescue the Witness". He will be shot to smithereens before he could do anything...
  10. Some people here at the forum have been talking about more strategies/schemes. I'm sure it will come new official strategies/schemes, but until then I think we could try to create our own. I have not game tested these yet (yes, I know, it's the cardinal sin of gaming...) but maybe we can try something out together. Some of might be better of as schemes (or maybe just rejected). So, how could we make these work? Rescue the Witness Deploy 1 30mm model at the center of the table. It has Wk/Cg 4/-, Ht 2, Wp 4, Ca 4, Df 6, Wd 6, Bulletproof 1 and no weapons. Score: 4 VP if the Witness still is alive and in your deployment zone. 2 VP if the Witness is alive outside your deployment zone and not engaged in close combat with an enemy. Silence the Eyewitness Deploy 1 30mm model at the center of the table. It has Wk/Cg 4/-, Ht 2, Wp 5, Ca 4, Df 6, Wd 6, Bulletproof 1 and no weapons. If it’s in combat with (at least) two opposing models it may disengage without testing. At End Activation Phase your enemy may activate the model. Score: 4 VP if the Eyewitness is killed. 2 VP if the Eyewitness still is alive, but you have (at least) one model closer to enemy deployment zone and no enemy model in base to base with the Eyewitness. Activate that model as if it belongs to your crew. It has Wk/Cg 4/-, Ht 2, Wp 4, Ca 4, Df 4, Wd 6 and no weapons and counts as a friendly model. The treasure may be given (or dropped) to another model as a (1) Interact action. The model carrying the treasure may take a (all) Bury action. Score: 4 VP if the treasure is buried in the enemy half of the table and no enemy have had line of sight to the model burying the treasure for the whole round. 2 VP if the treasure is buried in the enemy half of the table and no enemy that had line of sight to the burying is alive at the end of game. Malifaux Ritual (Neverborn only) The stars are finally right. It’s time to execute the ritual. Three things need to be done to complete the ritual. The things that you need to do are: 1 Kill an enemy model. 2 (1) Interact with a terrain element on the enemy side of the table (choose one before game begins). 3 Move one complete lap around a terrain element at the center of the table. Randomly decide in which order they should be done by flipping cards. Score: 4 VP if all three steps have been completed in correct order by one model. 2 VP if all three steps have been completed in correct order, but not by one model. 13. Okej, I see your point. I guess it's both satisfying and annoying... I want to know NOW!!!
  14. And the most annoying when it comes from someone that knows stuff... :hmpf:
  15. Yes, I know that. But I decieded not to care. Not to begin with. It's a lot of problems with this. What if the players want to combine a lot of strange talents that could be a very powerful combination. If we should be able to play Malifaux at regular basis, then I would put up a list of talents/spells and have diffrent costs. And use diffrent weapons with diffrent damage. But for now, the only diffrence the weapon choice is going to make is range. My players will be able to cope with it. We like "rules light systems". Basically: Big weapon = long range/not easy to hide. Small weapon = short range/easy to hide.
  16. A Treasure Hunt that walks maybe? The player that NOT have the closest model moves him his Wk (4?) at start closing unless he is in b2b, then he "Links". Maybe some additional rules. He is scared of enemies. At any time someone is making a ranged attack within 12'' he moves straight away from that model.
  17. I think I will use as many rules as possible from the existing game. The players will begin as potential henchmen. Before play, they begin with: Wk/Cg 3/5 Wp 3 Ca 3 Df 3 Wd 4 Cb 3 Cb 3 Dg 1/2/3 And no Talents/Spells. Then they got 15 points (maybe another number (15 would make them like a gunslinger without talents/spells)) to buy increases for. Wk/Cg, Wd and Dg cost 0,5 points to raise. If they want they can buy a suit to a trait. They will also be able to buy talents/spells for a cost of 1 point each. If they do they have to choose one from the existing (with the game master’s approval). They also have to buy 3 skills. A skill will cover a lot (more like an occupation or hobby). For each “scene/chapter” they will draw control cards to their hands, and that’s what they have to stick with until next scene. They will be able to cheat fate and use soulstones. When they need to use a skill the Game Master decide an appropriate target number. This way they are not very good at the beginning (I don’t want them to charge and try to kill Rasputina the first thing they do just because she is wanted…). They will receive experience points quite frequently. So what will they do? I think the setting works fine for some investigation/intrigue. They will begin as human mercenaries. The Guild will buy their services, but everything is maybe not as it looks like… During their investigation they will meet Zoraida, Seamus and Ramos who will tell them their version of the situation. And it will also be a battle will the gremlins in the bayou… By the end, they may have decided to stay with one faction or continue as mercenaries… Edited: I think the points should be to buy traits and some additional points to buy talents/skills.

  22. I may be boring, but I think the best thing you can add to the starter box is: Three more belles! Why? Because they are fantastic with Seamus. They move really fast and you will probebly have more models then the opponent. Thias game is about your strategies and schemes. With six belles (seven with Sybelle) you can make them stand in the way of your opponent and still have some spare models to achive your schemes... I think you shouldn´t use living models with Seamus. But a samurai or Flesh Constract could be included if you really want.
