  1. Several companies provide Grey Primer, the best ones I have used (and I use it a lot!) - Army Painter - Tamiya While yes, the Krylon will work, unless you are familiar with it, there is a chance you will put it on too heavily and obscure a lot of the details. Be very careful with using it. For an informative primer article, visit my website: http://redstickstudio.weebly.com/priming-101-whats-in-the-can-man.html And if you have any questions, feel free to message/email me!
  2. More than likely you will need to strip it, so you end up laying down a smooth coat. Would need to see pictures to accurately assess it.
  3. I've done a good bit of stripping miniatures..Comes with the job..lol Here is a link to an article I authored for my website quite some time ago, explaining the various types and methodology to stripping miniatures. http://redstickstudio.weebly.com/stripping-miniatures.html There are also lots of other guide, how to and review articles that can be found in my "Academy" section covering all sorts of topics. If you have questions, feel free to email me at redstickstudio@gmail.com
  4. Wow, thanks for such a fast response. I wasn't sure if that was the route to go, as busy as he tends to be.
  5. Who do/should we contact about a miscast mini? I recently purchased the Ortega Gunslinger's box set, and the Nino was miscast. The right side of his face is just a rough patch, and the right arm doesn't look right at all. I need to get this box and the Victoria's box I picked up painted soon, as I am applying for our FLGS henchmen. What would be the best way to take care of this? Thanks
  6. Thanks for the assistance. Message was sent over the weekend, hope you received it.
  7. 1) Favorite: Color of paint (the specific paint color listed on the label) Rackham Precious Blue 2) Favorite: Brand of paint P3 3) Favorite: Sculptor Don't have one. I like to look at the model for what it is, not who sculpted it. 4) Favorite: Painter Kirsten Williams 5) Favorite: Mini Company (other than Wyrd, we all know it's everyone's) Forgeworld 6) Painting Preference: Metallics vs. NMM Metallics. Still no clue how to paint NMM. 7) Mini Preference: Fantasy vs. Sci Fi Depends on the mood, but I mostly paint Sci-Fi 8) Mini Preference: Male vs. Female Female, as most models I do, you can't tell much other than seeing their head. 9) Mini Preference: Human vs. Monstrous Human 10) Favorite: Paint Brush you use the most P3 Fine Studio Brush, I've gone through one or two and have like 4 more I purchased on sale because they are amazing brushes! 11) Favorite: Paint Job You've Done (provide link if possible) A Vulkan He'stan model commission. Unfortunately no pictures. But before I did that one, my Valkyrie I got to paint the pre-release Plastic Valkyrie for a Games Workshop Store. http://www.coolminiornot.com/220955 12) Favorite: Paint Job Ever (provide link if possible) I love the paint job, and the overall mood/feel this piece has. I believe it was well deserving of the gold from Golden Daemon. http://www.coolminiornot.com/220475 13) Desire: A mini company from which you've never painted a mini, but want to Cool Mini or not has a lot of models I just want to paint, too many to list, lol. 14) Desire: A mini you most want to paint, but haven't My Thunderhawk. 15) Favorite: Mini related forum (again, other than your obvious favorite; Wyrd) BOLS Lounge. I've picked up some great ideas, and have seen some amazing painting that never gets put up to places like coolminiornot 16) Favorite: Site you find most useful in terms of helping learn mini painting/Sculpting Honestly, Scibor's page, http://www.sciborminiatures.com/en_,index.php He's one of the coolminiornot regulars. 17) Desire: A sculpt you would love to see, but doesn't yet exist. New Sisters of Battle Models, and I don't mind they're metal (or how about an inquisitor size one?)! 18) Ambition: What would you most like to achieve in the painting hobby? I would like to have a top three finish in a Golden Daemon, or something that prestigious eventually. For now, I'm happy to work my way up by making first/second cuts. 19) Least Favorite: Thing you most dislike about mini painting (think eyestrain, back ache, being socially outcast, lost time, costs, etc...) Finding the right light to paint. Also, prepping! 20) Least Favorite: Paint Brand you've tried Don't have a least favourite. I just know what to avoid, like the Apple Barrel paints from Wal-Mart, or Testors enamels, stuff like that, because they don't work! 21) Least Favorite: Mini Company who's sculpts/style just don't make you want to paint them.' Don't really have one that directly comes to mind
  8. Quick Question about this. I sent a message about a week or so ago in regards to the bit I saw in the latest Mag our FLGS had. Will we hear back one way or the other if anyone takes interest? I understand that you are busy, and I'm not trying to sound selfish by asking this, but I'm sure I'm not the only one that had this though run through their head. Thanks!
