  1. Now you can check the Hussar 2011 report... Enjoy
  2. Ana posted a tutorial with one suggestion how to paint chaos creatures - especially skin of sinister looking steeds of Chaos. Surely not the only way, but hopefully an interesting one. If you're interested, here it is: How to paint Chaos steeds - tutorial (or click the picture).
  3. Hellspawn reviewed Instant Mold and posted a step-by-step tutorial how to use it (plus some additional tips and suggestions): Follow the link to read the Instant Mold review and tutorial.
  4. Hi there, Maybe anybody is interested in a report from the French Golden Demon? And if you want to see more or bigger photos, I posted quite a big collection here. Enjoy

  7. Ok, everybody, we're back from the first Polish Golden Demon! We had a really great time therem and even if our stay in Warsaw was pretty exhausting, we really enjoyed the stay. And we're not back empty-handed! Several Chest of Colors members won a few demons: Illusionrip returned with one gold and two silver trophies, Ana with one gold, Demon Color with one gold, and Kacpero with one silver demon. Eliash's diorama made the first cut into the finals, too. But we have something for you, too. We've got a list of winners and pictures of all the winning entries, and even more pictures in the Golden Demon gallery. Check them out! The quality may not be the best possible but the limited time we (Przemas from Leprechaun Art Studio, and me - Mahon) had, allowed us to take these. And if you return to our website you will find even more photos from the event, showing the participants, the backstage, the trophies, the pastimes the painters organized for themselves, and much more! We just need some time to upload these pictures to the gallery. And in the meantime ENJOY!!
  8. You know I already criticized thw wings, but now - looking at the minis again, I gotta say these bases are so great (if I haven't told it already...)
  9. I bet she will do it as soon as I take photos....
  10. That's elementary, dear Watson Funny as it may seem it was just a coincidence this time. The first time I responded to this I simply wanted to make things clear (as I am painting a 54mm mini now and find it a totally different kind of challenge for me), and later was commenting on every single entry - which didn't allow me to skip this one..... But it was a god guess
  11. I compiled a few posts into one - just to include answers to several questions I've been asked... My last mini: MadDog the superhero (or at least that's what he thinks of himself). Such people always - is it day or night, are they in fully dressed or not - have to be ready to serve the humankind. But frankly speaking I think he's simply ... mad. He collected whatever superhero-stuff he could and stands ready for the call to service. Or as somebody said, it might be his lover who wanted him to dress someting sexy But seriously: painting it was a lot of fun, one sleepless night and some more time. The bed is made of plasticard - four parts: one for each side. The rest is Fimo, Greenstuff, and one weird mini The miniature itself is Maddog from Hasslefree Miniatures. As for the pilllow and the matress, they were sculpted with pretty uneven surfaces to look fluffy and soft. Then I used the pastel base tones and added several (3? 4?) highlights with a larger (size 4? or was it 2?) soft brush. But rather with longer moves than precise applying to chosen parts - this way I wanted to create the effect of wrinkles. Then I used dilluted but darker colors to shade the things and finally re-applied the highlights when they required touch-ups. I think the whole thing is more about the texture of the surfaces than the actual way of painting. And maybe keeping the highlights and shading rather subtle, as overdoing might only spoil the final effect. I don't know if it helped even a bit but that's what i'd recommend... His pants are utterly disgusting, you say? They were supposed to be It was my entry into the "alternative" category and I wanted it to be ... really alternative Nothing more - it's just fun to paint something again
