  1. I know they're based in the UK, but these work so well on bases - http://www.antenocitisworkshop.com/gbu0-catshow/silflorflowers.html
  2. Where abouts in Dorset?? Only asking as I grew up in Weymouth
  3. Yeah I'll be there again this year. Will be good to see what people conjure up this time round in the painting comp.
  4. Hi As a couple of people asked for a closer look at my Rotten Harvest entry, well here you go... Apologies for the quality of the pic, but photography is not really a strong point Pete.
  5. Yep - Company of Heroes is a superb game, it always seems a lot more tactical and slower paced than DoW. But saying that I did notice in the announcement for DoW2 they mentioned fully destructable buildings so here's hoping they throw in more of the cool CoH features (different armour values on the various parts of the vehicles, occupying buildings, cover, etc). It's going to be an interesting juggling act keeping the fast paced DoW feel, but I'm definitely looking forward to it.
  6. This is something I've been looking forward to for a while. Soulstorm was a nice enough upgrade, just not enough new stuff. Will be excellent to see what they've learnt from Company of Heroes and what they choose to put into DoW2 from it. Oh and yeah, bring on the 'nids....
  7. Congratulations on the two years and long may it continue...
  8. I used the following recipe on - http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a57/pete--h/Security-complete1.jpg-: Base coat of scorched brown, 1st highlight layer 1/2 scorched brown - 1/2 dark flesh. Then a layer of pure dark flesh, followed by a 1/2 dark flesh - 1/2 dwarf flesh. This mix then had several additions of bleached bone added to raise it up. A brown ink glaze was then finally added over the top. Hope that helps.
  9. Yeah I do the same as the baking soda approach only I use Woodland Scenics snow instead - paranoid about rumours that the baking soda goes yellow over time and somehow yellow snow doesn't appeal. A couple of examples using it are: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a57/pete--h/3Shot.jpg http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a57/pete--h/Silvia2-mk2.jpg I've also experimented with the PVA-snow mixture to get a more defrosting appearence and I've also tried adding a tiny amount of white paint into the mix which has worked quite well. Hope that helps.
  10. Hi So as with everyone else I thought I'd best put up a comment about my entry. Firstly cheers to Nathan for running it and everyone who voted and left comments. A few people who left comments on my entry asked for bigger pics so I've tried to get as close as possible. The snow base was made up of a couple of cork layers then covered with a nice 50/50 mix of watered down white glue and Woodland Scenics snow. A couple of bits got on to her boots but I left them to give the appearence that she's actually moving through the snow. The camo on her gun is more urban than snow. This was because last year I entered the prone version of Silvia into the Chick Challenge and she was set in a ruined building. So I kind of figured that she would have kept the gun since then and as a result hadn't got around to changing the scheme. The same can be said for the red hair bands. The gun barrels were originally highlighted up quite a bit, but I felt that they would have been way to reflective for a sniper so I darkened them down a lot. Once again cheers for the contest, can't wait for the next one.
