  3. Hey Wyrdos, If you’ve been paying attention to our latest Twitch streams, you’ll already know what Waldo’s been up to this week. As it turns out, chewing ethernet cables is his way of technical troubleshooting. Luckily, we have backups. And backups for those backups. So, while we coat our cables with aluminum foil (the one thing Waldo doesn’t like to eat), let’s take a look at something different this week. By now, some of you might already know that we are FINALLY releasing Bayou Bash, our 2-4 player combative and chaotic racing game, later this month. But, most of you haven’t had the chance to give it a test run yet. Today, we’re changing that, because we are launching a playable Bayou Bash demo on Tabletop Simulator (which is available on Steam)! The physical version of Bayou Bash comes with 14 track pieces to build your race to your heart’s content. With the Bayou Bash demo, you and up to 3 of your friends will be able to duke it out on one of 3 pre-made race tracks. Select your racer, choose the track, and you’re off! If you’re still hesitant on giving Bayou Bash a whirl, why not take a look at the rulebook? Find out how the Jockey Card drafting system works. Learn how to use Barrels to your advantage! Make sure you know how to avoid falling off the track! Head over to the Bayou Bash page to download a PDF of the rulebook now! And if you have no idea what we are talking about at this point, why not give the Bayou Bash trailer a watch? Download the Bayou Bash Tabletop Simulator demo today. Head over to our Discord server to find some players! We’ll see you at the races! Pre-Order Bayou Bash now!

  4. Some Strategy Markers for our games. For Malifaux you need so many markers and I'm not a fan of using plain bases or colored circles as they 'disturb' the optics for me. I wanted the fires to look dark, evil, necromantic and fitting for the Resurrectionists of @Harlekin .

  6. You'd think designing a second title for a master with a fixed totem and keyword would be severely limited design space, but they're knocking it out of the park with basically all the titles so far. I'm so impressed! Going to be a very fun season when they launch!

  8. Heya Wyrdos, The voting polls for both categories of Hot, Hot, Hot! are up and ready! There are a lot of great entries, so please take a moment to check them out! A huge thank you to each of our participants for their entries. Y'all continue to wow us with your talent and creativity! Hot, Hot, Hot! - Singles Hot, Hot, Hot! - Diorama A few things of note for this event's voting: Each eligible member has 3 votes per category. All 3 votes must be used. Anyone with more or less than 3 votes will have their votes pulled and the tally recounted. Comments in the Poll posts are disabled, so please use this thread for conversation on the entries! Finally, the polls are set so that the results are hidden. As always, questions can be messaged to me @Hobby Wyrd or by posting here on this thread and tagging me! The entries are so much fun for this competition, and I can't wait to see which ones come out on top.

  13. Huh. Just goes to show that art is subjective! I love this, yet really don't like the M3E Viks (I use the M2E ones, which IMO are awesome! Love the Sucker Punch vibes of that box!). Not really sure where you're getting the granny idea, they still look plenty young to me. While the loss of the guns is odd (room had to be made on the card I guess), I do love that Blood gave one of her swords to Ashes (Spoilers) after the loss of the Masamune (very sisterly!). Its loss I guess made Ashes a bit less crazed, which is also reflected in the art. I also quite like the balance between practical wear (not like M3E Ashes' boobs about to fall out!) while still maintaining their trademark minimalistic clothing (kind of like Lilith & Wyches from 40k. All that unscarred bare skin shows their skill as swordswomen), something the M3E Viks missed. For basing, What I had done was use pins through one foot on each Vik. With this, I can transfer them from their individual 30mm bases to a 50mm. Because the bases are resin, the pins actually hold really well for a game, which I don't think would work are well if I were swapping in and out throughout the game. The plan was to magnetise the other foot, but having seen the new art, I don't think that will be necessary for me.

  14. I havn't been around in this forum for a long time. I did paint some Malifaux minis in that time. Just a few though.

  15. I think I'm going try to score a second Chibi Viktoria and put them both on the 50mm like the anime protagonists they are!

  16. After a busy last half of last month I'm excited to get back to painting regularly. Seeker and the Explorers starter is all ready to go, but my focus will be a few Bayou models that I keep putting off, including the Emissary, which ye see indeed be me White Whale, yarr. Well, now that I finally finished Gracie recently, that is. I've had an unconventional "art project" idea for that Angry Bacon Hampster Wheel for a while now, I just keep putting it off, so this is a perfect challenge to push me to take the plunge!

  18. Hi there! August is gonna be tight in time (again), i'll keep working on the urami crew, and try to find some time to paint Ikiryo Good luck everyone, keep yourselves cool on the north hemisphere, and warm on the south!

  19. Well, I'm gonna start with the rest of my Infamous crew. I suppose that later I'll add the whole Seeker keyword (except the surveyors), but first of all I must see how long it takes to paint those bayous... And for the challenge... I must see what can fit on the description. The model I thought I was never going to paint is the one I painted for the Hot! Hot! Hot! painting contest... xD

  21. Did we ever see? But in all seriousness, what is the current status of Cadmus in the competitive scene? All the top Masters got nerfed but of course the Summon changes affected Cadmus as well. Is Nexus taking names all day long these days or has counterplay appeared? The models will be making a physical appearance soon and just in time for the physical tournaments as well so I admit I'm mildly worried, but I've been out of the Faux scene for a couple of months now so maybe all is well?

  22. @Hobby Wyrd,It seems the Singles voting is broken. I see one entry in a small window asking me to submit all or none of my votes for that one, and I can see no others. Diorama voting worked fine (though I'm 98.3% sure one of those entries is just a cartoon drawing of a diorama...).

  23. I'm loving this. In many ways the Vik's are among the most iconic and also limited theme crews and masters in the game. The Vik's are the twin bladed blade whirlwind, the sisters of death. The entire concept is well loved and iconic, as demonstrated by the 10+ variations on the sisters which Wyrd has released at various times. What did Wyrd do, the Vik's are on a single base (like the old avatar) so closer than ever, they are straight melee as the blades flash, but they have lost some mobility (not much but some) and lethality (including at range) but gained significant durability. They scheme more, they benefit their Merc crew a little. It "feels" like the Vik's (the blade wielding sisters) but will, I suspect, play very differently, if you select a crew to play into OG Vik's and instead hit the new Vik's it's going to be rough. With an iconic master which has a well established theme they have managed to carve out an alternative playstyle which still feels like it suits the underlying theme but will play differently. Excellent. As to the controversy(??) over how they will be available. It is a trap, as others have identified, with no great answer. All separate boxes places huge retail pressure and box bloat. Purely faction based (where a master releases with a partner keyword model(s)) means multi-faction or multi-crew master players may end up having to purchase double master with extra boxes. The multi-faction option means single faction players get a unwanted extra master. One way or another someone complains, legitimately. So Wyrd goes the best option for them (fair), a good option for stores (fair) and likely a good option for players (yeah OK). Probably (unconfirmed) selling dual masters with extra mini's. This allows a secondary market for just the unwanted master, or room for using the unwanted master as a modelling source, or gets the player/purchaser to explore another master in a different faction because they have the new figure, or (I think best for Wyrd) gets a player/purchaser to entice another player into a new game. Alongside the new faction starter boxes you could now really expand the Schemes & Stones building on a budget, likely for under US$200- get a base master + crew, add the starter versatile's, add the alt-title master, add one maybe two boxes to taste and fill and boom you have two highly flexible thematic crews which play very differently complementing each other well. Good bait for a veteran player looking to entice new blood into the hobby, specially as much of the world crawls out under the Covid rock. It's what I'm planning to do.

  24. This. It provides players with versatility, it lets under-utilised crew members (in base master) find a new potential place, it lets a player expand their playable collection at a reduced overall cost (adding a title while using the already largely owned and modelled crew). So great. Then, as stated, for an opponent it adds uncertainty, you can't simply default a hard-counter into master-X, because the titles (thus far) have been markedly different. No longer do you abandon a particular master because you know you opponents declared faction has a first tier hard counter, now they have to adapt to master and title, which by necessity reduces the hard counter to the base master, which gives the base master new life. What I am particularly happy about is that they are really putting work into keeping in theme and radically changing playstyle. The Vik's reveal is the ultimate of this so far for me. The Vik's are pretty much themed on the twin sisters with the lethal swords that chop you to pieces, they are the fast, lethal and fragile glass canon style crew. What did Wyrd do, the Vik's are on a single base (like the old avatar) so closer than ever, they are straight melee as the blades flash, but they have lost some mobility (not much but some) and lethality (including at range) but gained significant durability. They scheme more, they benefit their Merc crew a little. It "feels" like the Vik's but will I suspect play very differently, if you select a crew to play into OG Vik's and instead hit the new Vik's it's going to be rough. So you need to account for the possibility of both, reducing the hard counter against both at the same time. Love every reveal so far.

  25. Personally I'm freaking thrilled to see schemey Ironsides! Very keen to get her on the table. I think it's important to note that the sheer existence of this title and the fact that it's so different from base Ironsides (beater/lockdown vs mobility/schemey) is actually in itself a buff to base Ironsides. Remember that you announce your LEADER before both players make their lists, but you don't announce your Masters' TITLES until you're both revealing your completed lists, so your opponent has to try and make a list that can handle both or take a gamble and try to focus on dealing with one (and maybe getting screwed when you reveal it's the other one).

  28. I have a whole shelf full of miniature board games, which tend to not get painted and take up a needless lot of Shelving Space. I am thankful for every well thought out game tha doesn't dump more miniatures on me.

  29. It would be as nasty to players who collected both sides of keyword if Wyrd just packed a single master and the dual keyword model into a box, since players were forced to buy duplicated model. Or if Wyrd decided to pack all models into individual boxes, then it would be nasty to the game stores who now needed triple space in warehouse to store those boxes. It is all about the thing of less evil.
