  1. The final performer. This crew ended up so vibrant and colourful, Iโ€™m starting to wonder, whether Ishould abandon my Dusty old neverborn and become a filthy arcanist and fight for workerโ€™s rights to a weekly matinee. .

  2. When I've tried syndicate, there have been a lot of scheme markers around. Ingenuity with a hopeful prospect is pretty strong- activate and draw 2 cards. Democratic elections throws out a lot of area damage and healing at the same time. And the syndicate likes mass healing to pay the price of progress. There is some pushing in there as well, which has a use if you're going the hazardous route.

  3. For Deafening Silence, if you don't have any cards to discard, you can't target friendly (relative to the Archivist) Cadmus models in the 4. For Corrupted Innocence, the "must discard a card" is skipped and you continue to the next effect (the "gain Stunned" effect. Because the two principles involve are: For the results part of an effect, if you can't do something, but have to try anyway, just skip it. For the condition part of an effect, if a rule or reality prevents you satisfying the condition, then you can't satisfy that condition. Edit: In other words... If you have to discard a card to do something, and you don't have a card, you can't do that thing. If the rules just say to discard a card and then some other stuff, you just shrug and do the other stuff.

  4. Hi guys! As I haven't painted much the last weeks, I wanna show you some pictures of our last games. The campaign we're playing is about my crew preparing the small settlement of Drywater - at the outer territories of Malifaux City - for the arrival of my Saloon on rails. Cassy vs. Sybelle. My Showgirl advances. The pug, that my Manequin is carrying, has made a ๐Ÿ’ฉ (aka Scheme Marker) on the Layline. It didn't go well for Cassy, Angy, Dolly and the rest against the undead 'whorehouse-crew' lead by MadammeSybelle and played by @Harlekin . I've managed to get 2 ties before losing 3 games ๐Ÿ™ˆ. After finishing my first Bounty of leaving my mark (advertising signs aka Scheme Markers) across the town, my ladies now have an Escort Service (they have to escort one mini to the enemy deployment zone). In the last game Sybelle and her undead staff were attacking my site, where my ladies were trying to prepare everything for the soon arriving railcar saloon. Cassy and a Coryphee are moving in to support a Showgirl at a corrupted idol. The mayor is summonig lots and lots of mindless zombies. I still haven't figured out how to stop her ๐Ÿ˜ต with my performers.

  5. Hello Hivemind!! I've seen passes at some masters where their crews are commonly out of keyword like REDCHAPEL. I've found QI AND GONG is consistently 24 stones of QI AND GONG and then OOK for the rest. What other keywords are really just a master and then faction models or OOK models for you?

  6. I don't know much about Guild, love to hear your insights into what masters you considered and why once the lists/match are done!

  7. Well, I can hardly go against another Resser play and not give them the Molly experience. That'd be poor form!

  8. X, Y and Z are gonna be happy, so I'm going to go with option A I'm into Guild but I don't know what is happening yet on my side but its between three options. Probably going to wait until Thursday to decided incase errata drops finally.

  9. Round 3! Lots of severe terrain, so Reva & Kirai & Jack Daw are pretty happy on this pool I think. I'll be doing Molly vs. @wookiejunior's Kirai

  10. Is that cuz you like it so much ๐Ÿ˜ I work with @Hermit on the site. We have been working on this since just before pullmyfinger was taken down.

  11. Deafening silence has the discard as a cost, if you can't discard you cannot target Cadmus models with non-, non- actions. With Corrupted Innocence the discard is built in but isn't required for the ability to happen, if you have no cards to discard you simply gain Stunned.

  12. You could have been an Arcanist playing December and done "Return of the Yeti" ;D

  13. @Caedrus Liking the underwater colour palette also. Photos are super clear as well, water effect not withstanding. I saw a pretty goodtutorial on painting water theme stuff you might be interested in. He basically uses masking and the airbrush to paint ripples onto the back of the model. It's meant to be reflected light, but could easily be the light passing through the water. It's here because embedding it makes it huge for some reason. Underwater is a really cool theme but super hard to sell well. Think you're doing a really good job of it.

  15. Caedrus, reporting in! I have some early completions, and I'm pleased to say that my (mostly eBay rescued) Tormented keyword is complete! First, the Drowned I find myself wondering if I should do more colour on these guys, rather than going for a 'submerged' look. But, I do like the way they look (as always, water effects look garbage in photographs). Next, the Hanged! A bit uninteresting, these guys have a halo of colour on their base, which is Caedrus-speak for Incorporeal. Next, the Dead Outlaws! A bit more interesting a sculpt. It was a bit challenging to get the Tormented-thematic-colour-I-chose (pale, saturated blue) into the scheme, but it's close. These guys, however, were a lot of fun to paint. I had some airbrush fun, and some finer NMM on the picks. Quite pleased with these Hollow guys. For the Highlander Challenge, I painted Jaakuna Ubume with my trusty Rosemary and Co, Series 33, Size #1. Here she is: Once again, water effects look terrible, but I can definitely say that I was pleased with the end miniature. I do love this sculpt. It tells a great story. Finally, a long term goal was completed, my Avatar of Entropy, which is now an Outcasts alternate Emissary: The details are a little chunky, but I enjoyed the mini. For those wanting a completed Keyword shot, here it is: ...and, finally, I managed some slightly better shots of last month's Miss Deed. Still not great, but better than it was... Whew! That's a lot of painting! I hope everyone is having a fantastic April, and I'll be back for more updates soon! Caedrus.

  16. I always wanted the Crossroads Seven to look a bit more inhuman so for Gluttony decided to go for a decidedly unnatural skin colour. Also pretty happy with the hat.

  17. You can also play with Intuition on both Euri and Thoon. If you have one or two low cards on top, you can use a SS to flip both for Reflected Visage (Euri) or Arctic Pull (Thoon). This lets you clear the dross off the top and get to a higher card. Honestly, one of the players in my meta has called out that he doesn't have to actually do much for Assassination since I often times bring Euri down to that point on my own using The Old Ways to turn what could be a 3/4/6 into a single point of damage. The Old Ways turns the entire Savage keyword into Jack Daws with pretty solid HP and H2K. With Frozen Vigor, many of the models get to Old Ways for free on the first flip. It really does make them much harder to put damage on. Even they do manage to spike damage, you have Sarena to top them off. I've had a Geryon go from 1 hp to full +1 Shielded during it's activation without Sarena. What this all means is that Euripides is very cerebral. You have to understand the actual threats your opponents are bringing. If you can identify what models are actually going to deal damage and you can plan around them, Savage becomes a very survivable keyword. I would argue that a lot of players who have given him a go are newer to the game and don't fully understand Threat Assessment or when to commit models to the scrum. I do want to add a disclaimer that my meta is tiny. I have only been playing Faux for about 8 months now (weekly). I know there are other players out there with a lot more experience and probably many more games with Euri.

  19. So a model, reguardless of faction, can be hired into a crew as long as they share the same keyword as the Leader. So, why aren't there pockets of other keywords throughout more factions? A Guild Guard that takes the occasional Mercenary job. An Oxfordian Mage dabbling a little in Ressurection magic. A Bayou Smuggler who spends all their money in Ten Thunder's prostitution establishments. Where would you add in a type of minion model with two keywords that aren't represented together yet? I'd want some Half-Bloods who sneaks away to the Honey Pot because they're still addicted to Brilliance.

  20. I'd say that there's a difference between "what is optimal" and "what people tend to run." A lot of people run "fluffy" lists. Outside of tournaments, I'm not necessarily going to bring "all the OP stuff" either. In 40K, a game that is wildly unbalanced, the community would regularly complain about that, and how in reality the Guard would never show up with 3 Valkyrie Vendettas and no Leman Russes. And my response was if the guard in-universe had the resource costs we pay on the tabletop for the equipment they statted up, they'd bring 3 Vendettas and leave the tanks at home. If we want the behavior of people in-game to mimic the universe, the rules should support that. Let's take Von Schill for a second. Look at how good "Pull!" is when the shooter is Mad Dog. 3/ 4/ 5 on a model that you just got to relocate 4" (so the blast will hit usually hit another enemy model). In faction you can have Hannah shoot it, 2/4/5, or Arik/Lazarus throw a grenade. The best choice to use with the master's best trigger on their best attack is an OOK model. So in-universe, if Von Schill could pay 9 of his soulstones to have Lazarus along, or 11 to have Mad Dog come along, he'd pay Mad Dog. He's a mercenary captain, he's going to take the best value ratio for his hard-earned stones. So I'd say if you wanted to maximize your chances of winning with Von Schill into most scheme pools, especially in GG0, you'd bring Alyce or Mad Dog. Do you have to? No! The game rules let you spend 36 soulstones for OOK Malifaux Rats, if you choose. But you probably will win less if that's your crew. Worst example is probably Lady Justice, who has the Death Marshal Recruiter - a minion that can make Death Marshals whenever a living minion dies. Problem is that her only cheap minions are... Death Marshals. Who are undead. So the Death Marshal Recruiter is at his worst in the Death Marshals! He's actually better off with Daschel where he can turn Daschel's shoddy expendable models into Death Marshels when they inevitably die. I'd say he gets more use OOK than in-keyword. Anyway, on other subjects, McCabe is weird. He only has 4 whole models in his keyword. So he tends to run mostly out of keyword, just because... 4 models. Oh and one of them is horrible. I think he's missing half his crew from Explorer's society. It's really hard to judge masters like that, see Euripedes, just because we'll only really know how good they are when they get the rest of their crew. That being said, McCabe with mostly versatile models is still damn scary.

  21. Off the top of my head, the following crews are typically half or less keyword. REVENANT MONK... Really any 10T crew can be as they have such strong versatiles, but this I think is the main one. Agree with RED CHAPEL, I usually go mostly in key word for QI & GONG, but you definitely don't need to (see above)

  22. It's not it being a may, it's the nature of the question asked. If the question is did you suffer damage/discard a card then its a yes as far as the game is concerned, if the question is how much damage did you suffer, or what suit/value was the card then you get a null response. If there was an effect that relied on the number of cards discarded then you would count the number actually discarded, but if ingenuity made the number0, it would still count as a number of cards discarded.

  23. I think it would be better if Necropunks had the Onward! bonus that Vernon and Wells has instead of leap (with the rocket man trigger). Maybe also lose a wound. I only use them in amalgam but frankly they seem too good every time.

  24. What i see, in general: -Low willpower. -They have no easy condition removal: Hopeful Prospect (bonus), Cryptologist (trigger on his bonus) and Spelleater (trigger on his attack and is Once per Activation) -No easy access to healing (outside of Jedza).

  25. This is roughly what M2e did with its upgrade cards. Also misaki and hamlin both had 2 models with different rules sets in first edition ( both started as a minion but later became masters. Hamlin was a different base size but both misaki were same size base. ) Also it's probably not a great marketing ploy overall. It's no easier to balance henchmen dreamer than it would be to balance new henchmen, but wyrd doesn't get new sales to pay for that development. You certainly wouldn't want to do many like this.

  26. I'd say that it's a concern if regularly optimal play is to leave most of the master's crew in the box. Shenlong may have this problem now, for instance, none of his monks are great (and Ten Thunders continues to have an amazing run of Versatile models, even with two nerfed). I really do think it needs to be looked at. First, it means that a faction has versatile models so strong that they're perfectly capable of making up a good crew on its own - the M2E "all stars" list problem. Second, one of the core ideas of M3E was keywords. So yes, a crew should normally find the best models for their keyword in their keyword. Seamus is so strong he's often picked as a second master, even with an ability that only works if he's the leader. That and the utter dreck that is Redchapel means that yeah, he probably needs to be nerfed a little at the same time his crew is massively buffed. It might kill "second master" Seamus, but give us a lot more "Redchapel Seamus". And that's good. Playing against keyword crews is just more interesting than playing against Archie/Manos or "The Ten Thunders All Stars" or something like that. I don't think it will be "extremely difficult". I do think it will take a few tries to get right. We have the app, we don't have to touch a keyword once and then never look at it for three years.

  27. I rarely surpass more than 10 stones of OOK/Versatiles if any, preferring the in-keyword synergies that give the crews their unique flavour.
