  1. Aww, thanks @Caedrus! That's very kind of you to say. Anyway, here's a progress update on the Crawlers; I worked out the scheme for them months ago, when I painted the Morphling (ie. basically both Crawler types squished together). So far they're looking pretty swish for a 4 scrip trash squad. I especially love some of the faces. Like this one - Grumpy Cat's distant ancestor;

  3. I agree with your perception that euripides is quite strong. way more than what people is giving him credit. It may be the "old ways" fault. It looks nice on paper but can be deceptively brutal once you understand all the "ways" to use it and are patient. defensively is really hard for the oponent to workarround. attaking you can forze brutaly some turns. having a 12/13 in hand that can be used to defend one activation and counter attack or the damage and the next atack. you also can "dig" for the cards you left behind to some extend. What you dont want to do is using a hi

  4. Caedrus, Reporting in! I’ll be updating my efforts with some photography tomorrow, but I thought I’d take a look at the absolutely inspiring work everyone has been up to. Please take any critiques in a positive light, as they are meant to be constructive! @muraki: Nice development of your NMM. You might want to put a small amount of glazed colours to reflect the surroundings, e.g. a brown at the bottom of (March) Lady J’s coffin. I love your choice of hair colour on Lady J, by the way. Super-fine brush control on the woodgrain of her coffin, too! @Gloomy: I love your

  5. I've used the effigy once, I think? Others seem to favour much more heal-heavy strategies than I do. I tend to be a bit healing light. I still want to experiment with effigy with fate upgrade, but I don't own an effigy so only do it on Vassal. Forgotten Marshal with Whisper makes sense, but 9 stones just feels like so much for what you get. I'm pretty stingy with my cards though xD Personal preference perhaps. The whisper on Molly is the first thing I do if I have stones to spare. A turn spent doing constructive criticisms and lost knowledges goes sooooo much smoother with a Whisper.

  7. I suggested this in another thread. Some don't like it because then things like the Jury feel a lot stronger, or even Tormented gets a buff, but I reckon it is still worthwhile (and indeed, is part of the point - anti summon tech should work against summons). Particularly as schemes and strats get much easier to balance if they can treat summons differently. Currently not all summons are affected by the anti-summon rules of Let Them Bleed for example. So I think it'd be worth it for the design space.

  8. The Other Side has returned to the London gaming community. Thus far we have been playing via vassal to teach the game to new players, learn and just get gaming time. We have assembled a hodgepodge group of complete newbies, experienced players and other interested mercenaries. This will be a vassal event run over the month of April. Hopefully getting us through the last bit of lockdown where we can take out our toys again in the future. There have been a handful of TOS events before but I’m pretty sure getting to 12 participants would put us near the top. Perhap

  10. So we've seen Stumpy and Fluffernutter so far. Any thoughts? And predictions for the rest? I'm hoping the Jockey Henchmen adds some sort of mobility boost. Move 6 and 4 doesn't seem much like they're racing around the board. Rooster Riders and most Pigs leave them in the dust.

  11. Thx for the reply 🙂 Tried just turn one a few times in vassal by myself with first list version... (starting to like vassal) Plan was to activate marshal before molly to have a minion for constuctive criticism. But getting the 8X wasnt that easy... so had to activate molly before for the card draw So Im thinking about replacing the effigy with one crooligan to have at least one minion for const critisism + then i could also summon a rabble or night terror instead Will stick with list one... it seems asami crew is quite melee heavy and like to have another shooter

  13. the intent was to be in range for Doc to walk, assist the injured off (getting Fast from Quick Cure) and healing Parker. This was in case of the Rex diving Parker (since Assassinate was in the pool)

  17. Would it not be a lot 'better' (for balance) to go the opposite route? For example; 2 'generic' upgrades for a faction as a whole. (ideally a weaker 1 pt and a solid one for 2 pts) Then 2 more 'master-specific' upgrades. Just spitballing thoughts and ideas from a newb.
    1 point
  18. Give it a go! I find crooligans pretty critical. But you should easily be able to draw the 8+ crow with the necrotic machine draw trick, so should work fine!

  19. thx for the advise 🙂 ...since its still learning the rules and the crews - its fine loosing for me 😄 thought about bringing a summoner myself with the forgotton marshal 😄 current list I'm thinking about... again with not knowing which strategy (GG0) we are playing and again with only one scheme: Molly + Whisper Necrotic Machine Forgotton Marshal + Whisper Rogue Necromancy Archie Carrion Effigy + 1 SS Plan would be to summon a crooligan ( or any minion) turn one + heal up for scheming if necessary

  20. I just realised that recently I've answered a lot of this type of thread recently with problems as to why it won't work, and I don't want to put people off posting them, just because the inital feedback looks bad. I certainly don't intend it to be bad, but constructive, I do know the medium of text is not always the clearest for getting over intent. There was a M2 upgrade that did this, it was a greater boost for lower df models, but even then it was almost always put on models with a high DF to make it even higher. Likewise, the +2 df boost from Francisco almost always went on a high

  25. That's a very valid point. There's no way a static point cost would be equal for all recipients. Going from 4-5 is hardly worth 2 SS, but going from 6-7 definitely is.

  26. A Freikorps Engineer can tools for the job, then first action drop a scheme marker, bonus strengthen armor (discarding the marker) to draw 2 cards, and then still take a shot or charge something. If you discarded a tome for Tools, it could be a focused attack too.
    1 point
  27. Both the Freikorps and Mercenary Keywords have a lot of Discard effects and not necessarily much in the way of Draw, so I can see Yannic being a big boon to both. Discard a card for a Scheme Marker effects like Parker's Draw Their Attention also get a boost, since they turn from a transaction (Pay X for Y) to gift (Draw a card, status quo otherwise remains largely unchanged) provided a marker is already in position. There are a lot of interesting possibilities more generally with this lot, it's going to be fun teasing them out.

  28. I'm not sure... there's a lot of strong keywords. in Bayou I would play BBB for tricksy, Frank Kin or Samy for Kin and Wizz-Bang, The First Mate for a mix of swampfiend and infamous and maybe even popcorn for Tri-chi and of course Gluttony... that's a lot of option (and maybe you can do niche things with swampmother or Old Major). Maybe we should start a thread about it though to avoid hijacking this one...

  29. Seems like you might be able to make some sort of gun line list with Von Shill and Yannic's shouting orders. Drop a scheme marker, Concentrate as a bonus action and draw a card, then take a focused shot. Riflemen might be fun holders for upgrades like Rocket launcher too. Burn a wound for I Meant to Do that on Warning shot, then burn another wound for for a stat 8 Rocket Launcher attack with built in Critical Strike and ignore Friendly Fire.

  31. I like this idea. Maybe not for competitive play, but it would be a cool way to do narrative campaigns. Like if your dude survives he can get 1ss worth of upgrades for the next game of the campaign. Maybe negative ones too so your little warband "evolves" during play.

  32. A little disappointed at the lack of triggers that drop markers to make models like Benny happy (Yannic's Unexpected Results is a touch hard to do in the backline ), but definitely an interesting set. If nothing else the Riflemen being able to Interact, Walk, Interact without the need for expensive Moldy Cheese actions makes them pretty good for babysitting Benny, so there's opportunity to mix up my Hamelin list building there. Scheme marker shenanigans are my catnip though, so it's a fun starter set. Quite a lot of options for attack generation across the board, and you can even

  33. For what its worth I don't consider Henchmen hardcore as a rules set to be considered when trying to design/balance a model. I don't know if that is what the actual designers consider, although those demise (summon) suggest it isn't. I think (from memory) the M3 public beta was given the expectation that the game should be balanced at 50ss games. So if a model was broken in a 30ss game, but was fine in a 50ss game, then it would have been printed. Likewise a model being a non starter in a henchman hardcore game wouldn't have been enough for them to try redesigning it if it did work in a

  36. I'm 6 games into Euri and I think he's a sleeper. There are several ways you can play him thanks to the diversity in the Savage keyword. He can wall up and hide, or move with surprising speed. He can be ranged or melee beat down, or simply slow your foes down with conditions. He can also scheme very well with the Cyclops and the recent addition of The Damned. He's reportedly squishy, but he's been surprisingly resilient to me. The Old Ways allows him to stay alive much longer than you might expect. The same with the rest of the crew. If you can manage your hand and discard pile prop

I’ve seen great improvement that’s for sure! @CaedrusI just read through the Challenge rules - unsure if I’ll be making a monthly pledge just yet. Dipping my toes, if you will. I just finished Hinamatsu, Titania, and two Autumn Knights in the last week. I’ll shoot for better photos next time. And maybe actually pledging

  39. I am not as much an expert as @Maniacal_cackle but had some nice success with the Forgotten Marshal and the Rabble Risers. When I expect to be on the receiving side of some heavy beating, I tend to bring the Marshal. Throughout a game he has considerable chances (10 of is enough for Risers, with Molly's card draw) to bring 3-4 new bodies for the enemy to chew on. My favorite summons are Rabble Risers. Depending on your hand/ressources you should be able to get some focus on them with summoning and they always are a threat the opponent can't ignore. They aren't this frightening per se but

  41. So we are one round through the Return to London TOS Vassal event. We’ve got a mix of experience levels here but definitely a weighting to newer players. Round 1 was corner deployment and pitched assault. First up we had reigning London champion take on Peter’s Abyssinia with the mighty hordes. This was a high scoring game with both players putting out a lot of damage. But ultimately Luke was the one grabbing the objectives and that made all the difference. Tom then took on Andy H’s cult. Tom is normally the TO so was good to see him playing for a change. Tom switched faction

  43. Ooh, Wild Speculation? That's my favourite kind! Guild - IIRC the Kings Hand was originally commissioned by the Guild for their own use. With the fallout after London, the Kings Empire just kind of decided to keep the manufactured Titans for themselves. So i guess what I'm saying has that i wouldn't mind at all if the Guild just used a variant of the Kings Hand for themselves. Kimon/3 Kingdoms - honestly it's hard to suggest things without delving straight into the Ten Thunders range. Specifically though, I'd love the chance to have a bunch of Murder Monkeys (Yok

  46. I think one issue with stat upgrades is there tends to be increasing returns to stats rather than diminishing. Stat 5 is a little better than 4, 6 is a lot better than 5, and 7 is just a completely different level.

  47. if I recall correctly, Wyrd actually published a campaign along these lines during M2E. Players could buy upgrades for their models that carried over from game to game. Some upgrades were similar to the generic upgrades we have now, and others were single-use items. Deaths also carried over, so it was kind of a battle royale concept. It was a ton of fun. You became attached to certain models, so it was epic when they succeeded and tragic when they fell.

  48. Let’s be honest and frank about it: Anyone posting a blanket change on summoning is wasting everone’s time. Because either you’ve already thought out a list of models that you want changed (and should be sharing that list and discussing the changes to those models), or you haven’t even done that much and you should start there. That’s going to be true whether you’re talking about 50 SS, or a some future version of Henchman Hardcore that isn’t just a half-page hack job.
