  1. Great work @Brushgit Here are my next 6 Stones for March: I am not too fond of her. Was mainly experimenting with kinda 50 shades of grey. Maybe she will get an overhaul in the near future but I will leave her for now and see if I can do better on the second one with different colors and techniques.

  2. Hey Wyrdos, This week, Waldo decided to take a break helping (burning) around the office to pivot to a new career: a lumberjack. The last we heard, he was already promoted to branch manager. Well plaid, Waldo. But just wait until they find out that you didn’t keep a log for each tree you cut down! So before he comes back after getting the axe, let’s take a look at another Bayou Starter box character, and how they’re going to play both in the upcoming racing board game, Bayou Bash, and in Malifaux. In Malifaux, Stumpy is a slow-but-steady Swampfiend that will be diff

  3. And I finished the first bloodhound, well sort of as you tend to see all the little mistakes you want to clean up when you have taken the picture. Super content with the progress, took me 90min to get to that point and I've pushed this exercise away so often. Thank you for igniting that spark with this challenge

  4. Hmm. I figured it wouldn't stop working until the move was complete but I see why that would be wrong. Los wouldn't be lost until its base was already in the terrain, right? What would the rules do with a model losing the ability halfway through moving through impassable terrain? Abject horror from the rest of the crew as that Vasagi screamed, his body merged partway through a brick wall by the terrible, maddening power of the boilergoat?

  5. Update for R1: 5-4 with Titania vs Mah in a fantastic game against @Axilees. Dreamer was my first pick, but in a Standard/Assassinate pool against Bayou Titania seemed safer. Mah, Zipp, and Zoraida all looked likely in this pool, and the first two have the tools to punish Dreamer while putting up points. I felt comfortable with Titania into any of the three and she had good scoring options in the pool, so that settled it. I brought Titania (+Pact), Gorar, Emissary, Rider (+Pact), Aeslin, a Black Blood Shaman, and a 10ss cache. I chose Assassinate and Research Mission. My opponent br

  8. Night Terrors can be great in some pools, so I often have one in my Molly crews (and one Crooligan - always bring at least one Crooligan). Night Terrors are especially strong reactivate targets since they can cover the entire board in one turn and still have AP spare to scheme. iirc in one of Varney's TFW podcasts he suggested that he even played some lists with 2-3 of them in addition to Crooligans. It's quite interesting on Mourners since they not only remove Ruthless from enemy models within 6" (so Terrifying is way more impactful) but also Mourners give you a free Corpse Marker at

  10. I've seen it. It doesn't protect from as much as being able to spend a stone for prevention on nearly every damage flip. Plenty of crews target Willpower instead of Defence. Stuff that ignores Soulstone use can very nearly be counted on one hand. A 3 damage hit averages zero damage on Barbaros even before Marlena gets involved. Defence is nearly irrelevant on a model where Severe damage flips barely scratch you and the crew is full of healers. Plus you typically have a massive hand advantage on your opponent, between all the crew's card draw and the fact that Parker doesn't need to

  12. Well his lore states that he is neither English, nor named Ivan, so I'd wager his country of origin is no where near either Britain or the Slavic countries. I got my money on Sweden, if only because I want them to someday reveal his origin and have him slip out of his impeccable received pronunciation and straight into Swedish chef.

  13. I tried slapping some paint on Toni. It went like this : The black leather jacket is the penultimate of cool, but it clashed with her dark skin and was ultimately too boring to look at - btw its my first attempt at dark skin, quite a struggle to get definition without losing the illusion of dark. Instead of the black I redid her in safety orange, and worked a lot more on getting definition into her pants. And Howard is finally assembled - and awaiting a basing concept.

  15. And here we have it, part 2 of the Guide! Part 1 can be seen here. Managing your hand is one of the hardest parts of Malifaux, and it can't be taught in a guide. But I will try to convey enough here to give some understanding, which can be built upon with practice in actual games. I'll cover some basics before moving on to advanced tactics: Punisher mechanics How to draw cards Allocating cards Advanced tactic: card advantage Punisher mechanics There are three main ways to punish your opponent's hand size. If they have too many cards, you draw from th

  16. Been a very long time since I've posted anything, but I've got a lot done over the lockdown. Here are my completed crews (fancy bases by Micro Arts Studios, they do great 30mm, 40mm, and 50mm bases for Malifaux). Resurrectionists first! Prof. Albus Von Schtook - Transmortis Dr. Douglas McMourning - Body of Evidence Aloysius Nicodem - Open Graves. Yeah the Rabble Risers are in Molly's keyword now, but I'm a traditionalist Jack Daw - Guilty As Charged. This monochrome look took me a while to get the hang of but I'm very plea

  17. Not least because the conversation actually veered that way for a bit when we started discussing Outcast Versatiles! Bayou and Outcast starters are up first, but I'd guess we still have three weeks until our first hint at the Outcast starter. Wyrd has been previewing one Bayou starter model per week and still has two to go. Probably indicative of a July release date if I had to make a call, assuming June is Bayou and that's why they're being previewed first.

  20. Note Alpinist lets you ignore vertical distance. Near an Alpinist, you can go on top of a building without spending any extra movement as long as you're in the aura. Alpinist doesn't just let you ignore the terrain (which by itself wouldn't give a free climb), it ignores vertical distance (which gives a free climb).

  21. I'm not a misaki main, so may not be perfect, but from what I've seen, it's a bit of both. I've seen folks use trashier mobs turn 1-2 to toss out a scheme marker or 2 so torakage can ninja vanish to them + swap them into shadows for more possible misaki vectors. I've also seen misaki toss hers out far enough away (or enlist ototo) that a torakage can jump to it and either replace it with another shadow, or a scheme. Really depends on what you're going for / what you need. I like the flexibility of ninja vanish as it lets you 'save' a marker until it's needed. Aka, if you want to s

  22. It may not be explicitly stated in the rules, but it’s how they’ve written things. To put it in wording closer to how “Unaffected by Terrain” is worded, there is no difference between “unaffected by X terrain” and “unaffected by X terrain trait.” Substitute “ignores”, “is unaffected by”, etc. as needed.

  23. I see now, ok, thanks. Thematically not a fan, but I understand the wording now.

  25. Titania is great on this map. Especially if you are the attacker (IMO the North and West deployment zone are great for her). You can really exploited the choke points (LJ will jump around, but most of her crew should be hinder in their movements). The impassable rock work mostly in you favor I guess (the fact that the rock are impassable is still weird for me) GL.

  31. That's...not a sentence I was expecting to see. She's got a really solid attack for a 6ss model, but it's not spectacular, and she's not exactly built to take hits back. Compared to her amazing scheming potential it seems a waste to have her attacking. How are you using her? Hunting low-end scheme runners, or getting mixed up in bigger fights? And I almost tried the mechagoat in my game, until I realized that it actually doesn't help with/bypass big climbable hills, which were a big percentage of our board. The robot designed to help climb mountains just...doesn't. Maybe it's too busy scr

  33. I don't super love the scheme pool for Leveticus, but it's not like he's ever really a bad choice any time you get a Strat with killing. Hamelin would still be my go-to on this one. Obedient Wretch is an easy couple of points, you can lure in and kill an Evidence model each round, and you can run a list where your opponent will need to enter your deployment zone to pick up most of your markers (hire two Rat Kings and have everyone else be Benny's support crew, when markers get placed on the Kings just have them Interact and Rat Problem turn one to drop their markers in your deploy

  34. Lol. No. We're a faction of large damage tracks, but no anti-healing. We have to kill things naturally like schmucks.

  35. This is why I like the Emissary. You're still getting aoe and hazardous, plus you get stagger, severe terrain, and a slightly more durable body. You don't have to manage tokens for your offense/defense. Once the hungry land is down, they're down and you don't need activation control each round for value.

  36. Just using my favorite trigger: Hazardous within 6. Add melee range of 2" and pair it with Grasping Tentacles, then suddenly Hoffman's guys have it way more difficult to pick evidences and get a ton of ping damage.

  37. Great point on tentacles! It's so often overlooked and it really shines into a low MV opponent like this. I disagree about Rider. His 1/2/3 damage track vs Armor doesn't really hold up and I don't think Ride With Me is needed in Wedge. The blasts sorta make up for it, but I think there are better options.

  38. Because I said the Flush with Cash upgrade is what makes the Emissary harder to kill than Barbaros, which makes it Cost 12. Without that Barbaros takes more work to kill. That's where the price difference comes from. Admittedly I'm being a little unfair, because I'm considering Barbaros in the context of Parker and near limitless supplies of Soulstones (and cards) and I'm not particularly considering outside factors Explorers might bring in to make the Emissary harder to kill.

  40. Last errata, I was probably one of the most prolific complainers about the Archie nerf. Well, I've played dozens of games with him since then, and I don't believe I lost any of them. So I don't think they destroyed Archie... Though I may not have liked the style of the nerf, ultimately it led to quite reasonable gameplay and eliminated quite unreasonable gameplay. I was quite wrong xD I am looking forward to the next errata, where we can all get riled up about the new set of changes that probably turn out okay!

  43. Got some miniatures painted. Somewhere in 2020 I painted the Night Terrors. Forgot to post some pictures. And two weeks ago I painted Seamus and the Copycat Killer. Seamus was fun to paint. It took me 2 years to get him started because I really don't like these thingies on his knees. But as I nearly run out of models I gave him a shot. And he really was fun to paint - I'm really happy how he turned out. Very limited palette but still very vibrant colors. The green on his jacket and his trowsers is the same, but I added some yellowish green to highlight his jacket. And I mixed some of that

  45. I’ve played a lot of TtB, it’s actually the preferred system for my play group, and most of the reasons for that are the mechanics. The world is fantastic, obviously, but there are lots of RPG worlds, most of which are really cool. The card mechanic is really great, and players (Fated) being able to cheat in better cards means it’s much less swingy than other games. We tend to hate situations where a really cool moment is ruined by a bad dice roll, and cheating fate avoids that entirely. Plus, if someone has taken a few ranks in Wastrel, then they can give their cheat cards to other playe
