  3. I get it's ribbing, but why is everybody mad I dabbled in Thunders? If being a faction traitor was the issue, I'd get it, but Anya is cool but Misaki's not? Honestly I had been playing with the idea of making Anya viking themed. She uses axes anyway and you just paint up Sovereign like a big raven...

  4. The issue I have with a lot of these "Cadmus is beatable" conjectures is that the mere fact that they're not invincible isn't a strong case for them being balanced. ES mechanics, as a faction, are characterized by high efficiency and limited counter-play. Cadmus embodies both of these, as does DUA. That kind of dynamic is going to be strong in Malifaux, just because of the kind of game it is and what you're trying to achieve. But what makes those two keywords really stand out is what they are able to do with the efficiency and lack of counter-play. I agree with @Maniacal_cackle an

  5. Caedrus, now that I understand the challenge better I'm all in. I was expecting to see a lot of Lego looking miniatures all in primary colors. That said, given the talent I've seen on this forum they'd most likely look amazing. My suggestion for us to help with the specific monthly challenges was meant to be supportive and not critical.

  10. Greetings, fellow painters, and welcome to the Monthly Painting Challenge for March! Everything you need to know for the Challenge is right HERE. March (according to my shallow internet research) has two birthstones, being bloodstone and aquamarine. In addition, the flower of March is the Daffodil. Red, blue, yellow. So, here's a challenge for you. Paint a single Malifaux miniature in the month of March, using ONLY the primaries, black and white. Sounds easy, but if you're anything like me, your paint-mixing skills could do with a little upkeep. Have a fantastic March, look

  11. Greetings, everyone! I put together the last pieces for my Honeypot keyword with soothing Victorian Era ambience music playing in the background and I have to say: Gwyneth Maddox, Malifaux's most charming Luck Thief, gave me quite a hard time! Lots of small, fiddly bits like glueing hands to wrists, or the tiny derringer.. It felt like The Party Never Ends. And the assembly instructions didn't help all that much, since they only show the front and, well it's a 2D picture trying to explain how to put together a 3D sculpt. And they don't give you the correct sequence, which resulted in

  20. Also, what about the other Neverborn player in march... you're pretty quiet. I understand that it's a tournament and maybe some of us don't like to talk to much about strategy before the game (imo it's almost as fun as playing), but you can comment on the general scheme pool and map and comeback here to let us know how it went for you... So let me friendly tag all of you : @Alcathous; @andorman; @Makhina; @Khyodee; @santaclaws01; @TweetyFaux; @ooshawn; @masterofmelee So we're 10 (Lewphill91#2664 doesn't use the forum) ... I wish you luck everyone!

  25. I just finished playing in the February Vassal event. Played Hamelin for all three rounds. The event had a limit of no more than 15 SS on Versatile or OOK models, which was great because my default Hamelin list had exactly 15 stones of Versatiles with two Prospectors and a Malifaux Child. My list was: Bungelosenstrasse (Outcasts) Size: 50 - Pool: 0 Leader: Hamelin (Vintage) Totem(s): Stolen Stolen 2 Stolen 3 Hires: Benny Wolcomb Nix Obedient Wretch Malifaux Child Rat King Rat King 2 Prospector Prospector 2 References: Ma

  26. So here's what I'm planning to paint this month... I've been somewhat inspired by the Wrastlers I painted last month, so I'm adding 3x Iron Skeeters to finally complete my Zipp Crew. As for the Electrocutioners, they're the next step for my Abyssinians. It took me ages to paint my previous Abyssinian unit (Mehal Sefari) so I'm not entirely convinced I'll manage to paint all nine this month. But if I can at least get the scheme nailed down and paint a few, I'll consider it a win!

  27. Well, this is my pledge for March. I am not totally sure if I am going to be able to paint it all on March. The amount of miniatures is lower than those I painted on February, but I am going to be busier for at least the next two months. So, lets cross my fingers and work hard.

  28. For me, my Month of March will be made up of continuing to work on the Hannah project, updating my Freikorps, and making a start on my Tormented keyword. This is an eBay rescue, on a keyword which has a few ... meh models in it, so I'm expecting a bit of a drudge, but who knows! My primaries and tones model? Probably Montresor. Keep putting pigment to plastic! Caedrus.

  29. In my defense, reading all the abilities and remembering how they all apply to everything is a bit tricky xD But yeah, don't take my advice too seriously Sev. There's a reason I put a disclaimer in my signature about what crews I know xD Well, stitched and madness can happily get close to Fuhatsu and do the WP attack, so that seems fine. Dreamer can walk forward, attack, walk back (do not recommend until late game, and only as a last resort). If Fuhatsu walks forward and shoots something, you may have something in range to WP duel him then hide. If you can keep focu

  30. Yeah Fuhatsu can't be move unfortunately. But he's wp 3. The problem is getting someone close enough to make him do that WP test... Maybe the best way to do it is to ambush him with snatch (unburied an Stitch or an alp and Buried the Snatch)?

  31. I'm not sweating it. May my love for Nekima keep her alive and relevant! It does indeed make me easy prey though. I dunno, there's just something about that introspective look in her eye as she swings that glaive around in her new sculpt/art that gets me. But tomahawk and Thunderbird are undeniably rad as hell. Just gotta figure out how to make the rest of the crew on theme.

  32. I think they are on par with Bayou for removal, but really only Gluttony scares me there because it's more than just removal. The treasure map means the whole faction has cheap removal it needed, and combo'd with the Botonist could be really good (as an aside, that combo makes Thoon pretty bad into ES). Jedza's lost knowledge hurts and she also gets the terrain pulse attack. Underbrush powers up Ivan at least as much as it powers up Titania. Basse likes hanging out in underbrush and it turns on Sandworm, although that's a matchup I'm fairly comfortable playing into. My solution is to ro

  33. Pro tip for round 2! If you are attacker go for Basse and choose left deployment. Right deployment is just a barren wasteland so your opponent cannot hide from Jonathans Bring Its and one Dust Cloud can block entire bridge. Remember only not to take Sand Worm. Double Austringers & Pathfinders might prove very strong on this map. LYM is your go to scheme.

  35. Scoring Assassinate vs Misaki is between really hard and impossible. Add a low river monk, the best healer in the game (quality/price) and Assassinate is practically out of the table. Research mission is an option, since Stitched can be helpful with that. If Fuhatsu sees the Bandersnatch, it's dead.

  36. I played him few times fully (or almost fully) in keyword - except him and some random Specter they didn't have enough damage to match opposing players. Gladly, I have access to Archivist, Mikhail, young Harata and Emissary.

  37. I played the opposite side of this game, and it was an interesting matchup. Against Perdita I stayed away from the Watcher-bomb strategy for symbols, as I expected that Perdita could simply shoot them off the board unless I kept them in a Phiona bubble, which could drop my hand fast. Instead I opted for a Hunter to grab an early symbol off a flank (which succeeded from Initiative turn 2) and a Riotbreaker to toss across a Research Mission point, looking to double a center game with Claim Jump and a slow bubble advance. I was looking to weather the alpha and take a narrow denial win. I too

  39. Ivan is definitely a top master. Not 100% sure that better than things like Dreamer, but definitely on the top 5 of best masters. If he's not OP, he's borderline. I don't think Jedza is a problem. She's really good, but there's ways to deal with her. I believe that Maxime is better than Jedza, maybe close to Ivan levels, but she and her crew really need a lot of practice. Anya and Lord Cooper are good, better tan the overall if we take into account all the factions, but nothing close to be OP. I'm actually fine with the Emissary having Df7. He has Wp5 and take the

  42. Watchers are good for their cost - there isn't anything really more mobile in keyword. You can always make them fast and use the toss from a guardian so they can move to safety after dropping a marker (10" toss followed up with a 2" push and two 7" flight moves and an interact somewhere in there). Make sure they have a power token on them so you can push out of engagement using their bonus action without using a disengage. You have to be careful with them but they are small and very mobile. If you are looking for something more robust then Hunters are OK options (and you already have these mod

  43. Got a decent amount of work done on my Apex Crew. And a fisherman to use as a proxy for a Harpooner And of course no apex crew is complete with out a model that overhangs like a mofo That means the only models I have left are crypsis corps (who I don't even use that much, so ... shrug). And for anyone who says the rex is too big... clearly he isnt, he's basically the size of a puppy.... I also put together a few bone piles. So @Caedrus that puts me at 68 for the month.

  45. So I've got a bit of a good news/bad news situation today. The good news is that I've painted a tonne of stuff his month! The bad news is that none of it is Malifaux/TOS... Yep - that's a full Dwarf army for Kings of War, about 3/4 of which i painted this month. Granted, it includes 21 Steam Arachnids, but i don't think they'd count! Anyway, i have made *some* progress on a trio of Wrastlers, so hopefully I'll be able to finish them off in the next (looks at clock)... 5 1/2 hours. 😬
