  1. WE HAVE CONQUERERD RUSSIA AND THE UK. IF @trikk and @Filox would take care of Poland, only North America would be left to fall. Lets get it done (well not me, but some of you better players).

  3. Honestly, this is one of the things that makes me love them as a keyword. Come to think of it, my favourite keywords tend to be the ones where people have had crazy weird stuff happen to them and just gone "ok, I guess this is life now. Moving on!" Tara, Molly, even McCabe, they approach the mind-bending horror of unknowable beings and their own twisted fate with a "yes, that's nice, and?" attitude that I find endearing. You know, this:

  7. ...and here are the mercenaries! My apologies for the poor resolution. I had lots of fun with these guys. I really tried to go for a cold look for all but Taelor and Jake, as the theme I have created for this crew is a sort of Blade Runner android theme (backstory available on request). The magenta is there to really emphasise the coldness of the rest, and create a temperature contrast. The first Vik is a little too plain, and the second (kneeling) is a much prettier model, in my opinion. I learned a lot here, using white fluorescent paint (Vanessa's staff), and really trying to get better at NMM and OSL effects. I was pleased with the Student's dress / fabric. I think Jake was the easiest mini to paint here, by far. As always, feedback is very, very welcome. So now, it's onto working mor eon Hannah, and then doing the Alt. Vanessa and the Alt. Bishop to finish the keyword. Wish me luck! Caedrus.

  9. After a few games with Marcus I totally agree. He has become my second colette - just a NVB one. I dance through the wilderness (severe) and only attack if I get the kill. Preferably models that have not activated this turn. And use accomplice if necessary. on sunday I took out Leveticus 5:1 (ok my opponent didn’t know Marcus at all). It was soooo much fun to score, deny and retreat.

  11. Caedrus, reporting in with a mid-January update! So, I decided to do something stupid and try to build the Hannah that was always meant to be. It turns out that this is a harder, far more laborious task than expected. So, this has now been turned into a multi-month build. Here's where I am so far: More photos to come, very soon! Caedrus.

  13. I presume @Jesy Bluemeans overlapping in the sense that you can't deal with one Winged Plague without ending your turn in another's Diseased Aura for next turn, ensuring that Blight will always be going up. That said I don't think I've ever felt like Hamelin is all that desperate for scheme runners. He can send a Rat King 18" in a turn and still have it able to Interact at the end of that movement, he has Rat Catchers able to scheme in the middle of the central melee without issue, and he has Benny able to rush up the board and start converting rats into scheme markers in a pinch if many are needed in one place.

  17. Hi Wyrd Community, At first I have to say I'm from germany, so I'm sorry for my bad grammar. In my City there exists no place to play Malifaux. Not even in the surrounding gamestores in the neighbour cities. But I still want to play this hobbie with my friends. They just know the prominent Warhammer and refuse to invest money for something new. So here is my question/bidding: I want to have at least two crews to put on the table. These crews should take all corners of strategies and be totally beginner friendly. So marker shenanigans, complicated setups, lots of stuff to buy to make the crews work or lots of summoning are all points i want to avoid. The Test games should make fun for both players and should be clear to follow instead of getting more complex. I dont know, if a henchman hardcore would suit much better my needs, but i hole u understand :-) Long terms short: I need a suggestion of two masters (or henchman) and a minimum Setup to fullfill every strategy (At least a bit). Tanks a lot! Eichhörnchen

  18. Hi all, my daughter picked up a Pandora box for me for christmas, so I managed to paint the first model. Loved it, the base it's still an idea. I quite like to leave them empty just with the glow, Creepy! I'll post the rest of the crew when done

  19. I think the issue most people have with it is the Quality of AP it is using up. It's only on expensive models. If it was on Berendette and the frontiersmen, people would probably really like it. (And that just gives me the image of Basse surrounding himself with "yes men"). If you need extra heal then depending on how you play I would look at the Aura of Courage or the lamp lighter. Both are pretty good healing, the aura is fairly free healing, but only in close range, where as the lamplighter also comes with a useful push with the heal.

  20. I'm pretty sure that would either make her worse or it would completely reinforce her current playstyle of simple duel shockwave spam, which isn't very strong to begin with. Giving her a -1 Stat would put her at a Stat 5, 2/3/4 Projectile, which is just terrible for a Master. The only reason it worked last edition was because she started at Stat 7 and did good damage when it landed (and she wasn't good last edition). They can't really boost her attack through the roof though because she has a really good debuff shockwave that she can use at high range and burn enemy cards with. Raspy and her crew simply need a lot of work to fix. My hope is that they Errata all of her bad models (Hoarcats, December Acolytes, Ice Dancers, Ice Gamin, the Ice Golem, and Snow Storm) and just give her an alternate Master card that is closer to last edition's. I doubt her new shockwave spammy self would be very fun to play against if it actually was competitive anyway.

  21. I kind of disagree. I mean those aren't great matchups but they aren't super counters. Rider is not really a problem for RR. I mean you really want to hit that severe for a trap? It also means that your traps survived to turn 2 .You can go around Levi with good positioning

  23. I talk a bit about it here as well: I think it is a typo in the database for the words on the upgrades, although I didn't realise it was so broad. "Scheme" for example doesn't reveal Hidden Agenda.
    1 point
  24. Correct. I think Wyrd is incredibly scrupulous and consistent in their word choice, and they intentionally worded those abilities that way specifically to avoid the Cryptologist being able to use it out of activation. I think these are the only two models in the game that are worded this way too, so it's not like there's another reason to use "When this model activates" as opposed to "at the start of this model's activation" Presumably (without having looked in the rulebook) it's something like.... "at the start of this model's activation" occurs at Time=1 during the model's activation, with actions take place at T=2 and end of activation at T=3. "When this model activates" would occur at T=0, before the "start of activation" effects are calculated and resolved

  25. They get exoskeletal connectioned up turn 1 and they're generally in position from then on, being on the centerline(unless it's corner) The purpose of their melee attack is to get transmutation You can very easily hire 1 spelleater and not lose any significant melee presence, as the crew literally creates melee presence. They don't need to be, you have nests, eyes and ears, berserker husks, the nightsilk creeper and your opponents own models to attack through with Nexus. And what support do they need for down to the last drop? To just have a friendly model within 2" of an enemy model? We Are Legion is mostly to be used against melee attacks anyways. What they are however is is place for the more important back liners to throw damage to as they have multiple ways of healing and get a free shielded every turn. Yeah, they're not ranged beaters. They help support the crew. They aren't one of the squishier elements. They hands down one of the most durable. Opponents not being able to declare triggers against them is huge, not to mention they have multiple ways to heal themselves. The only more durable models are Nexus and Meredith, being soulstone users. Yes, the lack of being able to declare triggers on them even with friendly models is annoying, but also unnecessary for 90% of situations. Poison sets up Meredith to get out parasite tokens with a single use of Rancid Transplant, and they facilitate one of the best ways the crew has to force out a parasite token onto an important soulstone user. Not to mention there are plenty of discard effects in the crew, and just other sources of poison in the crew, to easily be doing 3+ damage at the end of a turn to a model from conditions alone. The only reason I'm ever hiring a berserker husk is if I want something with a dead bonus action from turns 2/3 and on to be removing markers with Treasure Map. Otherwise I'm always better off just hiring an eyes and ears and turning it into a husk, or hiring a cryptologist and making 2 husks turn 1, but neither of those options fill in the slot that the spelleater takes. Or I can not spend 8 stones on the hope that these mv 4 stat 4 models will actually prove useful in a crew where you actively want to stay in keyword for a tangible benefit and won't have to either spend multiple high cards on them to get use of turning into something, and on my master to set it up. Additionally, they're not going to be getting healed by Meredith, because Meredith is going to be too far away from them, as I can't exoskeletal connection them forward with the rest of my crew.

  26. Yes. Against a lot of crews the little shits are super annoying. They also give you a free turn of shooting a lot of the time. With Sz1 you can hide them behind walls and fences. It doesn't work on all maps and versus all enemies but most of the time I prefer 5 traps on Corner to reichart.

  27. That still doesn't seem like a worthwhile investment if I'm being honest. I rarely find it hard to get Blight out there, and it usually happens incidentally while doing actually meaningful actions like dealing damage with good models. I have actually run Abomination spam with Leveticus before (6 Abominations, two Desolation Engines, Servant of Dark Powers on Leveticus) and Winged Plagues don't even measure up to that level on paper unfortunately. At least Abominations cut out the middle man/dog/wretch and deal damage directly once they're in the opponent's face.

  28. They should just bite the bullet and make the donkey a real Rider, and give it an analogue to Ride With Me... "Donkey Kick - target takes two damage and is pushed 4 inches away."
    1 point
  29. That is indeed true but it doesn't come free. It would have required three actions (likely from silent ones) and thus multiple activation's, and possibly some other actions to move Raspy if she needed to get in range. So it does require a degree of setup and I feel like the same sort of thing can happen with any other models if you sink enough resources into them. The opponent should also have ample time to react by hiding outside of the aura, or just strait up destroying the pillars. I'm not saying that it's not possible to have an amazing turn with Raspy. Her range is her selling point and the reason why she's not a 2/4/5 or 3/4/5 damage as I do believe that would be too much. I just don't think by eliminating the trigger cost, she'll all of a sudden be having 6Ap turns all the time. It's just too expensive.

  30. I love the trap spam lists myself, but there are lots of crews they can't deal with. Including a lot of the top crews. I have wanted to try it some in Explorer to harvest stones with Flush with cash, but haven't tried it yet.
    1 point
  31. But realistically, how likely is that going to happen and how much do you need to pay to do so? It's not even like it's not already in the game. Perdita has a similar trigger (except it needs to target another model instead of the same as Raspy's) and she's doing at stat 7 with a better damage track. Also Rusty Alice can take 4 shots with little effort with a way better attack. Admittadly Raspy can potentially out-range both of these but it still stands that these types of scenario's already exist and in Raspy's case I doubt would be cause for concern

  32. I do know there are some lists that hire a large amounts of traps. But they're not mine, so I can't tell you how well they work. When I've played Basse, I've hired a trap fairly regularly, and often but not always a second. The map plays a lot into it. If you can see spots where you can really gum up the works, it's worth it.

  33. Vibrant colors are usually really saturated, so highly pigmented with no (or very little) white added (any white or grey will desaturated your color). Be sur you applied the colors on a white / light grey undercoat though (if you zenital prime, the bright part should be very bright, close to pure white). For the technique, you don't need an airbrush (but it's quicker). Glazing will help for sure for the transition, but the real key imo ( beside colors and undercoat selection) is to make sure to push your highlight (you can even go to full white and glaze back).

  34. Well, it could go different paths. I would like to see their scheming improved. Fly with me could be the way. Maybe with some funny trigger dropping "rat bombs" XD. My preference would be improve both mobility and blight spreading. Something like: Infected Blood: after this model suffers damage from an action or trigger, each non-vermin model in 1 gains a Blight Token. A tactical action that spreads blight in (Drink Spirit style but less ghostly and more pustulently). This could have the reposition trigger. For example. Disgusting Splatter 3" Stat 4 TN 10 This model may suffer 1 damage. Non-vermin models in range must each pass a TN 13 Df duel or gain a Blight token. Quit the range from The Plague Spreads. So the Winged Plague can push up to 6" Towards any enemy without blight tokens in LoS (then the tactical shouldn't have Reposition Trigger, maybe). This way they could be a bit better scheming, without achieving Gupps/Crooligan/Necropunk levels, and really worth it giving out Blight when engaged.

  35. I had my first game using Marcus as leader the other day, it went very well for me. I was playing vs arc Hoffman for their first not playing him guild. My crew: Marcus Thursday (Neverborn) Size: 50 - Pool: 9 Leader: Marcus Totem(s): Jackalope Hires: Bandersnatch Rougarou The Beast Within Angel Eyes Hinamatsu They had: New Charles Hoffman Crew (Arcanists) Size: 50 - Pool: 6 Leader: Charles Hoffman Totem(s): Mechanical Attendant Hires: Joss Howard Langston Soulstone Cache Guardian Magical Training Hunter Mobile Toolkit The game was Public Enemies wedge deployment with Assassinate, leave your mark, spread them out, sabotage, and research mission. We both took LYM and research mission. I had never faced Hoffman before and we got to crew select a few days before the game so I was able to look his keyword over a bit. I had not tried Angel Eyes before and she performed wonderful, armor piercing at 14" with no friendly fire was amazing. Looking at who Hoff could hire I knew I had to keep Hinamatsu away from Joss. What i didn't consider was a fast focused Joss with armor that can't be reduced could be tossed up 10". What saved Hinamatsu was Joss came in with only 1 PT plus the one for charging. So two irreducible hits and a SS with armor 2 later Hinamatsu lived with 3 wounds and I had a Joss in the middle of my crew. Hinamatsu and Angel eyes responded by bringing Joss down to 1 wound. Thus ended turn one. My opponent got initiative by cheating a 13 in response to the 12 I cheated and tried but failed to bring Hinamatsu down with Joss missing with the hit for irreducible and SS the other. Armor 2 and SS made Hinamatsu impossible to kill once I got rid of the irreducible hits. Angel Eyes having disguised save her from having to tangle with Howard who instead tried to finish off Hinamatsu but only got her to one wound. The beast within and the Rougarou were amazing with Formidable horns. Rougarou flipped a 3,5,13 for damage to finish off Howard. The positive on damage with armor piercing on the beast was wonderful half killing Hoff in one punch, first punch was shifted to the attendant. I tried to use the Jackalope as a speed bump on Joss not knowing he could push himself out of engagement. Over all it was a very enjoyable game with our new convert and I'm looking forward to getting more games in with him in the future. On a side note I purchased most of what he can hire over 2020 for all the various FLGS promotions Wyrd ran and love the models. I can't wait to paint them all up and see them on a table in real life.

  38. Hi and welcome. Where are you from? I am from Germany, too and it's not the easiest task to find fellow Malifaux players but there are some. I would recommend Molly (Rezzers) as one crew which is quite versatile and has a few tricks while not being overly complicated to handle and involving a lot of micro management (like tracking tons of Conditions or such). Another "simple" crew is Leveticus: Even more straight forward and includes fast models and some weird tricks. With those two crews you should be able to show the most important aspects of the game: hand management, ressource mangement in general, bubbling versus lone models, Demise, Scheme running versus Marker manipulation... Or maybe Kaeris instead of Levy, but I don't really like the match up. From a player's perspective, I'd aim for picking your favorite faction and then picking your two favorite Masters from said faction. It's just the most reasonable way to start for yourself. But I can imagine, that you want to choose two different factions for being able to show the different characters of each and every crew. Pandora comes to mind with so many signature miniatures, or Dreamer with Teddy. Same goes for almost any Bayou... For starting the two crews I mentioned, I'd recommend this shopping list: https://giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-wyrd.com/collections/m3e-resurrectionist/products/molly-core-box https://giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-wyrd.com/collections/m3e-resurrectionist/products/the-lost https://giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-wyrd.com/collections/m3e-resurrectionist/products/rogue-necromancy-1 https://giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-wyrd.com/collections/m3e-outcasts/products/leveticus-core-box https://giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-wyrd.com/collections/m3e-outcasts/products/desolation https://giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-wyrd.com/collections/m3e-outcasts/products/ashes-and-dust
