  2. Heya Breachers! I have wonderful news for my fellow Through the Breach fans; you will be getting regular updates and discussion about Wyrd’s one of a kind role-playing game from yours truly! The weekly discussion will be called Fatemaster Fridays and will focus on a variety of subjects regarding TTB. For this inaugural installment, let me tell you a bit about why this opportunity is incredibly special to me in particular. So, my first Through the Breach game was actually the Stitch in Time Global Event. I’d read up on the game, but it wasn't until my buddy Alex ( @Strype McClaine)

  5. Wyrd admitted in another thread that the West Coast had unforeseen issues. They said everything shipped at the same time and stores in the UK received product. That tells me the Distributor isn't being fully honest with the stores. I have no reason to disbelieve Nathan as Wyrd has been over and above communicative and forthright. It sounds like Alliance was in the middle of changing up their warehouses and there were some strange shipping decisions after product left Wyrd. Distributors don't have to worry about PR as what else are stores going to do? And end users don't care if its the distrib

  8. Honestly one of the nice things of Malifaux was the relative realism of the units. Yeah it’s a pain in the butt putting there super tiny hands n weapons together but overall it looks like a feasible and realistic thing. A lot of the new models have some much extra that it ends up looking like a bunch of actors pretending to be what they represent. Case n point the new frontiersmen models. A crap load of random tassels and strings which make no sense for someone who is livin on the frontier.

  9. You're not likely to get a definitive answer from the designers here, those generally come in FAQs. This is my personal take on it. Breaking down the timing in detail: Crooligan The Crooligan's activation begins. By Your Side goes into effect, and the Crooligan discards a card to place itself within 2" of a suitable model. The discard triggers Fading (Footprints). How is this resolved? By Your Side has an effect (discard and place). In the course of resolving that effect, another effect (Fading) is created. Sequential Effects (p. 34) tells us what to do in this situation:

  10. Between last night and today I played 4 games with Nellie. I ran the same list into two games Game one and 2: Nellie LLC, pp, dade with llc, three field reporters,an investigative reporter and grimwell. Game three: Nellie with LLC, pp,field reporter, investigative reporter, guardian, investigator, 2 false witness Game four: Nellie with LLC, phi, Frank, nino, pale rider with LLC,pp All in all Nellie did well with a lot of different crews. The only model I forgot to use from the journalists is the newsie.

  11. I got started with RPGs playing Call of Cthulhu many years ago, and was instantly hooked. As soon as I discovered Malifaux, I started thinking about how to bring it to an RPG, then found out it already had one! The moment I fell in love with the system, though, was when my wife and I sat down to create her first character: a doctor who refused to accept that death meant her job was over. It worked so dang well, and the character was so much fun, that it's still the one we use to describe how great a TtB character can be to new players. Like they say, "a necromancer is just a really late h

  12. Welcome, one and all, to the church of Mei! I’m here to tell you all that you need to play her, for she is amazing and to play her is to know true happiness. Mei is an incredibly flexible master who has good team support, extreme mobility, and also threatens a mean beat-down. That’s true of her keyword Foundry as well: they’re durable, fast, do good damage, and really just have it all. No single model of theirs is necessarily amazing in every way and a bunch of their strengths are situational, but a Foundry crew can easily be built to skew towards any objective. If there’s a job that need

  13. Hi All, Images attached. In Beta 3.22 the rules stated "If a Model Ignores Terrain when Moving (mostly as a result of Incorporeal) the model never has to spend any additional movement to move vertically along Climbable Terrain. This has now been removed in the Final Rules. The behavior I was seeing was that a player would simply move a model INSIDE a building and then get the Move to top of the build FOR FREE. I felt this was way OP as it was basically Flying but even better since you could move in 2D then pop to the top. If an Incorporeal model wants to get to a useable Roof

  15. I don't know. 3 models (Bill and Kabuki) with min 3 /stat 6 . Hinamatsu with hers 4-5 attacks . And don't forget about the Kunoichi : if you discard a Ram you get the Unexpected Ferocity trigger that brings their damage to 4/5/6 (!) against someone Distracted by Youko (one Riddles in the Dark is enough). I think they have all what they need to take down someone if they want to . The lures from the Geisha can help you to take the designed target out of position too.

  16. Added Steam Arachnids and Silent Ones to the list of suggested hires (don't know how I forgot about them lol), removed some triggers that I don't think are crucial to know about, and cut down on the icons throughout so I'm not going over the cap and so there's not just random T's and R's in front of triggers lol.

  18. I started Malifaux in 2nd Edition close to when the 2nd wave of models was being revealed really got stuck headfirst into the lore, to the point where I would write short stories from the POV of an individual model. Sadly, when TTB 1stEd was released, the 3rd party reviews for it were not great (One reviewer saying along the lines of "The GM never misses and the NPCs succeed every check" which is of course a misnomer to put it mildly). Time passes, I've left the Wargaming scene and started expanding the short stories to full on RPG sessions. I get to that point where I'm looking for

  19. As far as I can tell, the opposition reasoning concerning Flurry is as follows: The Flurry ability is specified as an "After Resolving" effect, so it's technically resolving during the last part of the action. So when you discard the card, you queue up the repeated attack action instead of resolving it immediately, and that action won't be resolved until all of the other side effects, and n-generational side effects, of the action are resolved. So the attack generated by Flurry gets resolved sequentially after the "After discarding" effect, in spite of their insistence that "Discard

  20. I don't mean to be dense, and I'm sorry if I am, but I don't understand why these are different. The Flurry effect takes place after the previous melee attack Action is resolved, sure, but that has nothing to do with the discard timing. For RRs and Archie and their Flurry, we're beginning at a point in time after the previous Action has already been resolved. In both cases, for Flurry and By Your Side, the discard is part of the Ability, and it's written the same -- "...it may discard a card to...". What's doing my head in is why you guys feel that in one case, you can hold off on th

  21. My FLGS was affected by the flooded warehouse and didn't get my pre-order in today, but I understand this is out of everyone's control. I just wanted to share that when it happened all I could think was "I can't be mad, it's Malifaux. Bad Things Happen."

  22. I guess I just don't understand why a place would be treated differently than an attack. They're both things that happen after you discard, so I feel like the same reading should apply to both. You discard, then perform a follow-up—we just need to know with 100% certainty where to apply the Fading effect. If Kyle or somebody could weigh in here with an official take, that would be grand

  24. You're not the only one frustrated. To be fair quite a few of the distributors under estimated what their sells would be. We're already hearing of allocations and we've also got several restocks. There was a delay in shipping as stated with the water main outback but other than the West coast which we were surprised about anyway because apparently it was shipped from hub to hub before it went to the warehouse, everyone should have gotten it and more than enough time. Alliance Midwest quite bluntly it was bad timing because they were refurbishing and resetting up their warehouse

  28. To print efficiently, you'll want to combine the files into a single PDF. If you've got access to Acrobat (the full-fledged version, not Acrobat Reader) then this is under the Tools tab -> Combine Files. Just drag & drop all the cards you want to print on there and it will do the rest. If you don't have an Acrobat license, there are free options that do the same thing (I suggest PDFsam). When you're printing, the option you're looking for is for multiple pages per sheet. This will depend on your OS and printer, but it should be there somewhere! The most efficient arrangement I've f

  29. LoS questions. It MUST be a new edition Ok, so let's establish some ground rules and reference so we don't run into trouble. 1) Model on the right is effectively Sz 6 for determining LoS (pg. 18) 2) This means it "ignores" the building itself for determining LoS (pg.17) and can therefore see stuff at ground level assuming Shadows don't get involved. With the trivial pieces handled, let's get into how the Shadow makes this more complicated (But nowhere near as complicated as 2e) 1) Shadows extend *out* from terrain. Your terrain piece here is a building, so th

  30. Caedrus, checking in! So, as promised, this month has been ridiculously busy (I hate being a grown up), so I have finished ... one miniature! Behold, 6SS of Death Marshall! It is tremendously hard to photograph this miniature well, so I tried with some lighting from below: ...which wasn't much better. Finally, in desperation, I tried an arty-photoshopped version: ...which doesn't actually show much of the painting. Oh well, it's done, and I've met my pledge! I'll be away for a week or so, so I may not get a chance to have a look at all the fantastic

  31. I don't use Bandersnatch with her. By turn 3 you have 3 webs on the board and can go anywhere you like. She is usually what I call 'a bully scheme runner', as in she can scheme crazy good with her webs....yet will not die (and will kill) most any other scheme runner. Her webs are difficult to over value, you really need to proxy and put her on the board a few times to get an understanding how strong they are with schemes. She also has a really great summon (It's easier for her to summon Stitched than Dreamer!). You can turn your own Wicked Dolls into Stitched or if you're really l

  32. I understand that there are tournaments happening this weekend and over the summer, and we're really excited to hear about them. What players will do to fill these missing gaps in their Crews will be up to the TO's discretion. As players have already noticed, the changes from the end of the Open Beta to release are minuscule. Rather than make players wait until our books are released to gain access to every single Stat Card - which is something we have done for the last few years - we decided it would be best to release all of the content that will be made available in June, such as card

  36. Got some last minute SS before the end of the month. Doing some dribs and drabs before trying to start a new keyword next month. Surprisingly I wasn't a fan of 2 of these models, the exorcist's face was nearly impossible to paint and the plastic steward had some connection issues and a bit of an odd face, but hey, whatever, it's more models done. The plastic one is made to match my nellie crew and the metal one to go with a metal perdita crew I picked up. I have another one somewhere, but I'll hold off on that for a while, ha. 43. I would never describe Wyrd as a "D-List gaming company".. Quite the contrary! I think they started off amazingly strong and have keep the pace. Considering their up against GW, WizKids, Corvus Belli, and Privateer Press, just to name a few miniatures companies and not to mention CCGs and board games, I think they're doing amazingly well. I've worked in the gaming industry for nigh on 25 years, and I've never seen a small company grow such demand for their products so quickly and still be able to push more exquisite products out at the same pace. So the demand far outweighs the print ru

  45. I canceled my normal Saturday gaming to attend a "M3e Launch Event". Some players in my group will not play until they have cards, and here we are on launch day with no cards or official app. What exactly are you launching!? This is why Wyrd is a D-list gaming company, which is a shame, because Malifaux is by far my favotite skirmish game.

  47. Some frank honesty like I have come to expect from Nathan. Either way I am sure Wyrd has done their best even with trying circumstances. I am sure a ton of people stopped collecting once M3E was leaked for fear of what was to come. I don't think Wyrd could have handled a who edition change any better. First they didn't screw over the majority of peoples collections of models even going back to first edition. Second they released all the cards and rules for free making barrier to the new edition none existent and a no brainer (looking at you GW). Hell you even leaked your own rules early which

  48. Or a new player will try playing nekima and wonder why she doesn't have a totem and the crew doesn't work. Or why Neverborn have fewer masters than other factions. If the rules are ready it would be better all round if they were released digitally. It would be better for all T.Os and all players. New or existing. Not sure why people would argue against that.

  50. pg 14. "During a game, objects (most often models, but sometimes Markers or terrain) will move around the table (but never off it)." A push is a move, so no, a model can't be pushed off a table edge. EDIT: Also, pg 41. "Table Edge: Any length of the four 36" long sides of the table, beyond which models cannot move."
