So MCC is in the book and the Purple Dino team won by a margin of 50 odd points, which given the winning scores were in the 2500 range is very close

Some bits didnt work as well as i hoped and certain communications from me should have been better but overall Im pretty happy with how it went. Of course most of the credit for that has to go to the players , who coped with it all very well and my great group of helpers who were absolute stars.

As is getting normal now will be doing another one next year so hopefully see a load of you Hunting for the Tyrants Heart

Back home after 2 welcome hours in an air conditioned car - boy was it a hot weekend.

Many thanks to Mike, Lee, Matt & Conrad for organising another interesting & entertaining weekend and pointing us in the right direction (well most of the time).

Likes - timed rounds, great tables, all the people there, painted models, hats, auction for WAAC

Dislikes - the heat, some of the achievements resulting in non-competitive games, hardcore games (though I agree with your decision to shorten things)

Thanks to Mike, Lee, Conrad and Matt for organising this and to everyone else there as well for making it a great weekend. It really was a lot of fun and I'm really glad we went.

I really liked the different format for the games. Especially the story encounter with blind deployment, will have to do that at the club. And the mixed faction on as well was a lot of fun.

Soulstone Poker felt like a really good way to end the weekend for the captains, although the amount of points available for it was perhaps a little much.

It was good fun being a captain, although with all the things you needed to do you did spend more time with the other captains than with your team. It also meant you had less time to play your games than anyone else. And I was pretty lucky in that we had enough territories and soulstones that it didn't really needed much management. But some sort of captains phase where you are not rushing around the hall as they set up games might be an idea.

Also, the veto card seemed unnecessary/confusing. I never had time to figure out what to do with it.

The achievements was a good idea, but some of them resulted in non-games where people would just take 2 8ss+ models and not really play the game. My only outing with Jakob was him and Graves, never looking at my hand, never cheating and never using soulstones. It took us maybe 20-30 minutes all told to play but gave a ton of points. You also had others that basically required you to dedicate your Master and\or other models just to that and not really do the game. Maybe fewer achievements overall, but more specific ones and more focused on things to do in the games will still letting you play. Maybe also having whatever you won or lost your game matter more? So you can't just throw the game for lots of points.

Also, and I can't believe I'm saying that, but fewer games. I think it worked out okay, the original 7 would have been really manic. I think 5 good games should be enough for the weekend. Or have more games, but then do them in variable sizes.

Overall though it was a lovely weekend and we meet some really great people. Got to put faces to a lot of names (that I'll then forget again!) and we had a lot of fun.

So once again, thanks to the team for running it and to everyone there for making it fun.

Edit: in terms of reporting scores, if they don't actually influence your next game would it be easier to just collect everyone's sheet after then first day and then update there score then?

Great weekend...loved it...

Was difficult to manage all the achievements needed but thanks to a great team (go bananas) I didn't have to manage the team.

I can't believe we raised £350 for WAAC which is absolutely awesome, and sorry I got a bit emotional, but that type of charity is close to my heart....

Well done to myke, lee, Conrad and spoons for making myself and everyone welcome, and I do hope to see all you guys soon...

My biggest problem was the non games and we will be doing something for next years that will hopefully prevent itt as creating contrived situations is something I don't want to be happening.  Adding enemy to all the kill x achievements for starters :)

The schedule was too ambitious so we will end up at 6 games next year with a reduced captain type phase, though I want to keep some sort of resource management.

The do achievements at the end of the day or during the next game is an excellent idea (thanks Ole) and will definately grab that one

Thank you Mike for another great weekend of gaming.

As some of the people already mentioned some of the achievements need a enemy models statement and I would also probably change the kill 3 minions to kill 3 non master models as I feel a lot of the times you just don't play enough minions and with fixed games a lot of the times you only play a lot of the factions once.

I also felt a lot of the master schemes were quite hard to get for almost no points so maybe tweaking them a bit.

I did like the fixed games but for time reasons I do wonder where it wouldn't simple be better to have fixed strategy/schemes at each of them which would result in less time setting up. Giving scores at the end of the day may help reducing admin time as well so definitely agree on that one.

But to be honest this are minor complaints as I really enjoyed the weekend and it is always great to have some time with people you only know the names from forums and twitter. Will definitely try to be back next year just need to keep my fingers crossed for the raffle.

Said thanks to everyone on Twitter, but I'll say here too.

Thanks to the judges, players, my team, my opponents, everyone for what was an amazing weekend.

A lot of people have made small criticisms, most of which are probably right, but it's a testament to how good the event was that a. most people are not bothered and b. all this crazy additional stuff going on wasn't really a headache even in the heat.

I look forward to next year if I'm lucky enough to go.

Also, anyone who reads malibros.blogspot.co.uk can expect a report of the weekend up "soon", but as a 1 day tournament turned into 10,000 words, I think I will split MCC into more digestable parts.

Oh lastly, anyone who took photos, if you have somewhere you can share them that'd be awesome and if I can use them for the blog that'd be double awesome.

Cheers - Ben

PS Thanks for capturing Mei Feng all the time, you horrible lot.

Great weeked, thanks to Mike and his crew of little helpers... well Henchman Lee and two little helpers ;)

As a captain it was hectic, but manageable. The only time I think I lost a lot of time was round one, and that could have been reduced had the organising team made a note of who was picked for each team as they were selected?

As ole said the veto card made no sense and by the time anyone could have thought to use it the games were underway. Poker as the final round for the captains worked really well I thought.

So overal a manic, hot weekend but a incredibly fun one none the less.

Liked: the teams system - made for fun and friendly banter; the territory that we had to make "sucking" noises for (I'd vote for more of that type of silliness); the "team" round - where one team lined up against another; hats; the doubles game; and most of all the charity auction. (£350 for a group of tight fisted gamers!? Just great.)

Disliked: not enough time for the doubles game (I was looking forward to that game all weekend) - although maybe just fewer SS each would have fixed it. Personally, I'd have liked a couple more hours Friday and Saturday night for gaming and socialising, but maybe I'm a drunk! :P

Thanks so much though, a brilliantly fun weekend in the country.

Great weekend I thought, Thanks to Mike for letting us stay and to Lee Conrad and breakfast thief for helping

you could even run a whole event like the team round, a team round robin type affair, and id also echo the idea of a short captians pahse, maybe "paid for" time wise by having fixed strats and schemes for the round

I'd like to say a huge thanks to everyone for a fantastic weekend, thanks to all the judges for all the work they put into the event, thanks to all the players for once again proving that the malifaux community really is second to none, thanks to my team especially James who grinned from ear to ear at every achievement point ( hope that trophy is somewhere nice), and a huge thanks to Mrs M who must have to patients of a saint to allow that many gamers into her house for a second year .

Likes- lots of different game formats , teams, tons of randomness , Pimp hats , camping , people falling in ponds ,why am I writing likes I loved it all

Dislikes- Henchman Lee nearly passing out from dehydration as no-one would get him a drink, gaming Friday night having to end at 11.30pm (was having a great time) , and not having a bit more free time to get to meet a few more people .

Hopefully I'll be at next years

As with 4M, had a great weekend, very enjoyable, and great to put faces to (twitter) names at last. I'd call it a great success, even with the minor niggles.

Likes - Team setup (go team Monkey), game times, variety of game types (individual, team, doubles), everyone's general laid back approach and embracing the spirit of the event, all the "extra-curricular" gaming - except cash and guns with Conrad (who bullied me), pretty much everything in fact (so I won't bother listing the specifics).

Dislikes - Master death*, non-game-games**, all the other Marcus players***

Generally though, a very enjoyable weekend. Loved the campsite as last year. Hope we didn't leave Mike's house destroyed.

*anything which permanently restricts people's choice of what to play is generally not great, and I felt particularly bad about killing Wong in the first game,

**e.g. I started one game with only Seamus on the board, and it was over in 15 mins, got a ton of points for it, but it wasn't a great game... so we re-racked just to play a normal (non-achievement) game.

***Marcus captured every game but 1, and we had to subsidise getting him out!
