It's a very interesting results table in so many ways...

There were five attendees from the Masters and yet they all did rubbish (even Mike finished above all but one of them)! *wink*

I won 2 and lost 2 but still somehow finished higher than all of my opponents! =o

Neverborn are apparently still OP! :slap:

So, downsides? Well I have two but they are both quite minor really; first, the location is a bit out of the way and for those of us travelling from Wales, I'm not sure I'd make it to another one day event there. Secondly, I played all four of my games on almost identical tables, with only 4-6 pieces of terrain on each and all laid out the same. I appreciate that there were a large number of attendees but it did feel like deja vu to me.

The positives were; yet another well run Malifaux event (My thanks to Dave for all the organizing) and, as I've said at every Malifaux tournament I've been to so far, the quality of the people attending. My opponents; Phil, Nigel, Austin and Mitch, were all great blokes and thanks to them for once again reminding me why I love Malifaux so much!

I really need to get some more practice in if I'm going to try and retain my UK Title next year. Remembering to do stuff (summon Mechanical Doves) and remembering stuff I've done (Bite of Winter) would probably help! *zombie*

Cheers all,

Martin

Thanks Dave for yet another great tournament, and evidence of your hard work and dedication to the cause.

I had a fantastic time talking to/meeting 'new' players and gaining new insights. I would especially like to thank my opponents for giving me some great games and showing me something new, especially Bruno and John for the scariest/nail biting games i have had for a long time. But glad i could give a good showing for the Guild.

Commiserations to Mark for just missing out, I promise to give you a game the next time we meet up.

I hope that i can convince the wife to give me the time off for the GT so i can meet everyone once again, if not then hopefully at the nest Sun, Sea and Soulstones.

thanks again

Joe

TTN is a super legit venue. Very professional. I was dreading the lack of a bar but thankfully there was one. Which brings me onto a question; why don't Malifaux players drink?!!

based on past experience, things will be different at the Masters. Shots as soulstones anyone?

Meh!! It's all talk! :P either that or I was just so drunk at the GT last year I didn't see everyone else being drunk. This happens quite a lot to me!!

Unfortunately I'm in Cardiff playing Warhammers (wondered if that's swear filtered here?!) that weekend which is a big shame.

One thing about TTN I was wondering is what happens in the evening of two day events. Does everyone just go to the same pub of something? One of the plus points of Maelstrom was the bar area which kept everyone together nicely.

Also, when people say Shotfaux they usually mean using 15% corkys or other such dishwater. Me and The Joe polished off a bottle of neat Jack in one game of Shotfaux...I can't advise that though. It's a feat I think we both agreed was best not repeated. The fag burn on WeirdPornMatts forehead agreed.

Obviously I'm not suggesting everyone always needs to be drunk to have a good time!

I'm a much nicer guy in real life.

Xx

Sorry you didn't get to play on the better dressed tables - I did rotate tables relative to positions. I'm working closely with TTN to improve the conditions for Malifaux. The 3x3 and 6x3 boards were a good step forward and we had more space between players than last time. I will endeavour to persuade them to get in more buildings and 'scatter' for the GT. We have to remember that this is still a new venue and needs income to invest in additional tables/scenery/etc. The snack bar and chill-out area was welcome and will be supplemented by sofas soon I'm told.

Location of a good central gaming centre is sadly lacking so we all have to travel for the bigger events until I win the lottery...

Thanks to David and all of my opponents for a great day out! Conclusive proof if ever any was needed that play worse straight after holidays!

Apologies to my opponents for multiple failures with simple maths, but I think I was a lot more tired than I first thought!

I was right about Misaki not being able to Pilfer stones if there are none to steal though, as per the resolved issues thread in the rules forum, so not everything I said was incorrect all day!

Looking forward to the next one, and hopefully a return to form...

No apology needed. As I said, they were only minor quibbles. I accept and agree with all of your points and thanks again for all your hard work.
