OldManMyke
As some of you will have heard on the podcast we are going to be running our own Malifaux event next year. Below is everything that we know at the moment. Malifools Midsummer Malifaux Madness When - Its going to be held on the 13th-14th July 2013 We will have access to the hall on the Friday night to do set up, sure some pickup games can be arranged as well Where - In a throwback to the early days of the UK tournament scene, the Village Hall just around from my house. Postcode is NR15 2LD if you want to see how far into the wilds of Norfolk you will have to venture. Oh yes thats in the UK for our overseas friends. If you want to grab a flight and come see us though, you will be more than welcome. Where can I stay - There is a B&B 200 yards from the village hall that has 9 rooms (1 Single, 4 Doubles, 4 Twins) Prices start at £25 a night. You are also welcome to camp in my garden if you have all the relevent equipment. Despite being in Norfolk the B&B has a website at http://www.southnorfolkguesthouse.co.uk/ How many players - Due to the team element we are aiming for 18 players. If there is enough interest we can go to 24 Whats it all about - Well thats the £64000 question isn't it. Think of it as a cross between a story tournament, a campaign weekend and an acheivement tournament. When you sign up you will be asked to list 3 factions in prefered order and by the time of the event you will have been allocated a faction along with (hopefully) 2 others. Your job over the weekend is to advance the acheivements of you faction and ensure that you control the most territory, all whilst teaching the other players why your chosen faction is the best. How do I win - Well each faction will have an acheivement sheet and the faction that gets the most acheivements will win. Simple. Achievements range from the easy - play a game as Lady Justice, to the slightly harder play a 5ss game to the down right impossible Have Hoffman kill 3 opposition masters in Melee. Obviously the achievement sheets are currently works in progress but you will see them a good couple of months before the event. The second way to walk away with a prize will be to end up controling the most territory in Malifaux, especially the special areas. UPDATE - You can download the achievement lists from the links below General Achievements - Per Player - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9092628/Malifools%20Midsummer%20Malifaux%20Madness%202013%20General%20in%20B%26W.pdf Faction Achievements - Per Faction - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9092628/Malifools%20Midsummer%20Malifaux%20Madness%202013%20Faction%20Achievements.pdf What in Conrads name is a special area - Contrary to what you might think its not where he lives. The event will use two different types of board. The first will just be generic Malifaux type terrain, players will be encouraged to move the scenary around etc, in fact, depending on how the terrain building goes, we might ask you to bring some terrain with you. The second are the special areas. Each Faction will start off with 2 or 3 of these (depends how many we can get built) and they are specific named locations for that faction. Each board will have fixed / themed terrain and special rules to go with it. For instance one of the Neverborn areas will be Dreamers Bedroom and is going to be modeled as an actual bedroom, taking objects such as pencils, letter blocks etc to make it look like your crew has ventured into the land of the giants. The special power of Dreamers bedroom is the ability to strike at any area on the campaign map as you enter through the dreams of the inhabitants. Crew Design - Unique models are unique per faction, so the 3 of you can't all play Lady J or Sam Hopkins. Rare models are handled on a per game basis, so you could have 3 Executioners spread out over 3 games if you wanted - provided you have the figures of course. If a unique model is killed during an encounter we will be flipping on the injury table at the end of the game. Woe betide anyone who flips the Black Joker during this What do I need - You will need yourself, plenty of cash to buy plenty of beers and of course as many models from your faction as you have. Painted prefered please. Oh and most importantly an easy going attitude and a good sense of fun. This isn't going to be a 'serious' event in any shape or form, if you are looking to grind your enemies before you and hear the lamentations of their women, this probably isn't the event for you. Brass tacks time, whats it going to cost - Good question, unfortunately without a good answer. Currently working on the final costs and will let you know as soon as I know. We aren't looking to make any sort of profit on this - in fact any left over cash will go to a charity, so budget the normal sort of cost for a 2 day event and you should be in the right sort of ballpark. UPDATE - THE COST FOR THIS EVENT HAS BEEN SET AT £30 and can be paid via paypal at myke.marshall@ gmail.com Any questions ping us an email at malifoolsradio@gmail.com, hit up our facebook page facebook.com/malifools or find either Jon or I on twitter @oldmanmyke @jdmickleburgh Updated with paid entrants in BOLD 1.
