So I bought one of everything today, going to play in the free to play area tomorrow (after all, getting it assembled is all well and good but no way I could get it all painted). I will spoil one thing... the girl illuminated has thwarted me for almost a hour trying to figure out to put her together. I've finally decided to let her go until I figure out if I ever need three Illuminated in a crew. Then I might put her together, or I might just pick up a new box of these guys since the bits make it so I could make them look fairly different from the ones I just built... Other than that I think the rules look great on all of the casino, and the fluff was freaking great throughout the book., I can't wait for the rest of the stuff as I personally am frothing at the mouth for the guild and resser releases.

So rat man was cool enough to play some q&a

(tadaka) Oh great rodent god, if i may be presumptious would you demean yourself enough to answer my question. Can you please explane how the totem comes in to play.

(Ratty1) You can start with it on the board, or off the board and get bonus Cache.. When a model with Brilliance dies if it's not on the board it can pop out and go BOO if you discard 2 matching cards, he comes in with half the number on the card wounds.

(tadaka) (tadaka) Oh great rodent god, if i may be presumptious would you demean yourself enough to answer my question. What extra action points do the models have. Ie melee expert

(Ratty1) Jakob, can get an extra AP that can't be used on Spells. The Hippo has Casting Expert.

(tadaka) Ug iluminated are 6 with no 3rd point?

(Ratty1) Just solid stats and a very good (0)

(tadaka) (tadaka) Oh great rodent god, if i may be presumptious would you demean yourself enough to answer my question. Can you show us the text to what ever spell jacob has that you think is the most intresting?

(Ratty1) Target and enemy model... Rst: Ca

(Ratty1) If the enemy fails... flip 3 cards in turn... if the card is a 1 or 8 discard it...

(Ratty1) Any other card... if it's Even the opponent draws a card and you keep the card you flipped

(Ratty1) If it's Odd the opponent discards a card and you keep the card you flipped

(tadaka) (tadaka) Oh great rodent god, if i may be presumptious would you demean yourself enough to answer my question. Same question but for totem.

(Ratty1) Hmm.. and Obey like ability that only works on the enemy...

(Ratty1) But.. and here is the but.. ignores Immunities against models with Brilliance

(tadaka) (tadaka) Oh great rodent god, if i may be presumptious would you demean yourself enough to answer my question. Whats the 0 action on iluminated do?

(Ratty1) Gives you a choice from a cool collection of cool buffs and abilities, with the chance to trigger and choose a second one.

(tadaka) (tadaka) Oh great rodent god, if i may be presumptious would you demean yourself enough to answer my question. Does briliance do any thing besides let other effects happen because they have it.

(Ratty1) Nope Brilliance has no intrinsic special rules.

(tadaka) (tadaka) Oh great rodent god, if i may be presumptious would you demean yourself enough to answer my question. Depleated, are there any effects that summon or place them after the game starts?

(Ratty1) Not at the moment

(Tiny) If not could you please tell us what kind of buffs the resser chick with the flute gives the crew

(Ratty1) Now Chiaki, my favourite thing on her is her ability to clear tokens and some effects off your models.

(tadaka) (tadaka) Oh great rodent god, if i may be presumptious would you demean yourself enough to answer my question. What spell effect do beconers have that is nothing like what bels cast.

(Ratty1) OK OK.. she can lower the number of AP that is generated on a model.

Guessing no avatars in book?

What models can give brillance?

Beckoners, Illuminated, Depleted and the Hungry Hippo. Beckoners and the Hungry Hippo are arguably the best at it. Mr Tannen cares little for Brilliance and while Mr Graves enjoys beating Brillianced models in the face, he doesn't hand it out himself.

Oh, that's mean Ratty!

Why is that mean?

Nothing special, just that he's hinting at the possibility of future models that may be able to generate depleted. He's been doing that alot. (point of note: I seriously have no idea of what's coming beyond book 4).

At this point is there any chance that hippo doesn't have enough momentum behind it to become the official nickname? I was really hoping for pacman.

Face it dude, it was inevitable. ;) Hungry Hippo is the only name he has and will ever have.

Photographs of rules for miniatures not released by Wyrd staff and employees are something that is often best not done, as it could potentially hurt their sales. From a personal observation only, Wyrd tends to be much more lenient on the discussion of the rules in their games then a few other companies I could think of, however it s often not advisable to push the limits too much. I would imagine that this is the reason that the discussion tends to be a little more vague as opposed to photographs of the rules actually being posted.

If you go back and look at the postings for last year's gen con you'll notice the same thing.

I'm curious why everyone with the answers are being so cryptc. Is there a rule that we cant post actual rules? On the Rezer forums they are posting the actual book pages.

I am wondering the same as well, why cant we just get pics of each page of the book to read then the discussion are not speculation any more, but i settle for what we get as i can do little else:)

But to be fair, if all the pages get put up, what is the point in paying for the book? :( not everyone is like me and wants to have it in my hands (lots are but not everyone)

Ninjad :P

Fair enough. Thanks. :)

For some reason I think Lynch would look great if his suit was painted up purple.

Saw this on the Resurrectionist thread:

"neverborn already disscusing what underwear jacob lynch is wearing.... need more Yan Lo info "

hahahahahaha

Awesome

Cryptic is more fun anyway. Zoraida will give you the full answers once she's done with you.

Basically, playtesters without a copy of the final rules (ie. they don't have the book) can give general info about the new models after release, but no specifics. :)

Yeah, we were all told not to assume we know all the rules, because tweaks would be happening. It's too bad, because I'd love to just dive in, but I'll feel bad if I give someone inaccurate info.
