EricJ
ok, by now you've probably seen my open call for Puppet Wars playtesting. That thread is STRICTLY for applications, but I wanted to give people another place to ask questions about the playtest, or talk about anything p-wars related, or hell, even just yell excitedly This is that place! Wodschow
YAY!! Also.. Should we put any deeper thoughts into the 'boardgaming' part? o.o

Wodschow
Boardgames are rather varied though.. xD Risk, Ludo, Carcassonne, Puerto Rico, Settlers, Ticket for Ride.. I'm guessing it'll be more like Heroquest, Descend, Talisman and such.. Edited February 16, 2011 by Wodschow typo
EricJ
lol...so many things I'm tempted to reply to that...but I'm just going to say: Thanks for the application!
EricJ
yeah, board games are very varied, but you just never know when some element of Life! will just mix in perfectly (kidding!...kinda...no one sue us). But yes, it will be more similar to some of the other mini driven board games out there than monopoly.
Alondir
Wo puppet wars gotta love then, wonder if there will be any $$$$$$$$$$$$ in the puppet world
Wodschow
Oh by the way.. Is it a two player game or how many of my should I contact (to ask if they'll sign the NDA)? (I'm 100% they will, but can't really answer on their behalves, can I?)
EricJ
It starts out 2-4 players (which is what we'll be testing), with expansion possibilities in the future to make it 1-6+ players
MunkeyKungFu
I can easily get the store owner and his assistant to sign. Plus the joys of being a committee member I can smack some people into conforming or being burned
nilus
Okay got some questions 1) How long do you guys estimate games will last? 2) Based on the fact that it uses cards can we expect a game engine similar to Malifaux's duel system? 3) Does each player control 1 puppet or is it army of puppets? 4) Would you consider this a Beer and Pretzels game style board game or something a bit more complicated? 5) What kinda board does the game use?
Jonas Albrecht
6) How closely do the puppets mirror their originals? Should we expect some kind of Perdita/Ophelia similarities?
EricJ
I'll do my best without giving out super secret details Okay got some questions 1) How long do you guys estimate games will last? as always, depends on the players, but I expect anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour. Games can be fast and brutal, but also features multiple strategies, one of which can be to outlast your opponent. 2) Based on the fact that it uses cards can we expect a game engine similar to Malifaux's duel system? It's not the dual system, but if you know malifaux, there are going to be many elements which are very familiar. 3) Does each player control 1 puppet or is it army of puppets? How could it be a war if you only had 1 puppet in your army! 4) Would you consider this a Beer and Pretzels game style board game or something a bit more complicated? the goal is that it is simple enough to be played drunk, but also has many more layers to it, and when you get into the added layers of strategy, it proves to be a very robust game on it's own merits. 5) What kinda board does the game use? This one is a bit harder to explain, but it's not a static board.
EricJ
6) How closely do the puppets mirror their originals? Should we expect some kind of Perdita/Ophelia similarities? You should be able to find the "essence" of the original in the puppet...but be prepared for the unexpected as well
Wodschow
6) How closely do the puppets mirror their originals? Should we expect some kind of Perdita/Ophelia similarities? I can recognize several actual Malifaux minis there
EricJ
oh, the majority of puppets are based on Malifaux models The game takes place in the same world, just in a more puppet-sized version of it, lol
EricJ
Of course, it also lets you use P-wars models as proxy for your Crews (officially too! being a Wyrd product), you know you want to play a puppet version of your favorite crew! MunkeyKungFu
Are you a real company? After spending so long playing GW games it seems alien like that companies are actually open to their gaming community.
