matty1001
Just having Anders there would be a great beacon, with him being 9'2", just stick a Wyrd sticker on his forehead.

Highbulp Billy
Couldn't you all just bring GenCon over to Europe one year so us "foreigners" can enjoy it too?

As for the sticker on the forehead .. not quite, but wait till next year to see what you have to do to get a freebie at the con ... yeah i think i bought like 12 mini's and had to actually talk to the wyrd folks before i got a free model. hehe. btw it really was fun hanging with you guys ...... i am just wondering why you let eric talk so much....instead of chaining his hand to a paintbrush. EricJ
oh, you just missed the first 2 days when I was chained down, but 2 days of painting under those lights, in that chair my eyes and back felt like they were about to go out...permanently, so he let me get up and talk to people a little...no doubt I'll be back in front of the brush here soon so we can get some more minis out to for everyone
green stuff
Couldn't you all just bring GenCon over to Europe one year so us "foreigners" can enjoy it too? Gencon is held in Paris since about 2 to 3 years (that's in addition to the Salon du Jeu (Ravage Mix Open)) : http://www.gencon.fr/ The next will be held the 25th, 26th and 27th of April 2008. eastman
Gencon is held in Paris since about 2 to 3 years (that's in addition to the Salon du Jeu (Ravage Mix Open)) : http://www.gencon.fr/ The next will be held the 25th, 26th and 27th of April 2008. My understanding is that the owner of GenCon is franchising the GenCon name for use in conventions in other locations. He's not actually involved in running them, so he doesn't take a huge loss if they fail (like GenCon SoCal did).
green stuff
True, it is essentially run by Asmodée. But look at the list of the businesses there (http://www.gencon.fr/exposants/) : Asmodée Bibliothèque Interdite (Black Library) Cocktail Games Hazgaard Mongoose Cerberus Jactaela Rôle et Stratégie Stratagèmes Wizards of the Coast Millenium Rackham 7eme Cercle Neko Corp Days of Wonder Matagot Upper Deck Wizkids Repos Prod Ludothèque de Boulogne 2d Sans Faces Ystari Plato JsP Mana Rouge Ravage RPGA GROG Jeux Descartes l'Oeuf Cube Q-Workshop Chessex Starplayer But honnestly, if you want the real deal, then come to the Salon du Jeu in October (minis, role playing games, card games, board games, video games, mangas, comic books, ...). Highbulp Billy
@ highbulp: well that'll learn ya. hehe. OK, me is now learned. But the idea of Wyrd at Salute is even more exciting (as its the only convention I've actually attended or am likely to attend)

green stuff
We never get any of these here *sob sob* It might not be in your back yard, but there is the Wonder Festival in Japan : http://hisui.sakura.ne.jp/report/wf2007summer/index.html http://hk.dmz-plus.com/a-news.cgi?date=2007.08.12 http://members.jcom.home.ne.jp/vampirdzhija/index.html http://photo.behindroom.net/ http://blog.livedoor.jp/aoi_zero/archives/2007-08.html#20070813 It's not exactly fantasy/sci-fi minis, but there are quite a lot of cool things to see there IMHO, I mean, how cool are these :
Uberdark
you know we had manga at gencon too....but it wasnt that good.....not to mention all the dang naruto cosplayers. thats just watered down manga anyway.
gi6ers
@Green Stuff - where can I get some of those goodies, the big yellow mech is the nuts!
green stuff
@gi6ers : try looking up "manga" and "garage kit". The ones you can order online are most of the time on japanese sites. Also, you have to have in mind that a lot of these are limited edition casts (300 or less copies). Your best bet is to ask somebody that lives in Japan to get these on the spot. Cyril (who lives between France and Japan) said that at this Con, the doors were almost assaulted at opening time, the buyers already their cash in their hands to get the goods . Also try MPing Arthur (Frenchkid) on CMON, he's got several links to sites that are in english if I'm not mistaken.
