Wren
Thanks for the info! I'll be taking a sculpting class, so maybe I'll see him there, and I'll keep an eye out for the shirt. I'm not a sculptor, so I wouldn't feel right barging in on their sculpting party.
minimaker
Actually, don't worry about not being a sculptor. If you're interested, you're welcome. I've only been to Gencon once (too far away) but I had the luck that there were two sculptmeets (booking error) and some of us went out for dinner together. The gatherings are as I said informal and sculptors are a friendly and open lot. So my advice, don't be shy and just go there.
Patrick
It's cool that there will be an official "rep" at the show! I ordered a couple of packs from JVS last week and I'm hoping they will arrive in time for me to pack along to the con. Sorry you won't be able to make it this time Ming-Hua, I was looking forward to talking shop with you more than we got a chance to at ReaperCon. @Wren - I dropped in on the meet a couple of years ago (before being a "real sculptor"), and it was very cool! Sandy gave out samples of brownstuff to everyone. It's definitely worth going to meet folks and see what they're working on. Hope to see you there. minimaker
Reapercon? I think you may have me confused with somebody else. I've not yet been to any Reapercons. Hmm, just a silly idea, how about an online sculptorsmeet sometime? Chatsession with sculptors worldwide?
Patrick
Wooops!!! You're right! That was a whole different Ming-person! What was I thinking!?!? :vollkomme :der: :club: That chat idea sounds pretty cool!
minimaker
Hi, I just got confimation that Tim will be at the sculptor's meet and that procreate will be available at the Reaper booth (#217). Bye, Ming-Hua

cdukino
For fun. Tom Meier got hold of the putty to try it out. He didn't have much time to test it thoroughly at the moment but he took a bit of time to make something out of it. So he made this little guy. Little guy being awfully litteral. 4mm tall guy out of Pro-create.
minimaker
It took Tom 3 hours to make that and the method used was interesting. He first did the front half of the sculpt on a bit of plastic, let it cure and then did the rear half (this was discussed over at TMP). Sergeant_Crunch
I know he's often referred to as 'The Little General', but 4mm is just ridiculous. Question is, what'd he have to say 'bout the putty?
minimaker
He only has had very little time to test it. Some comments are over here: http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=80439 Basicly he liked it. Especially for the possibility to take fine details (huh, just wait a second, Tom Meier is talking about fine detail? What would he still consider fine detail? ). He just doesn't seem to be sure about the name.
Wren
How late does the sculptors meet at GenCon usually go? My husband just reminded me that I've got workshops from 6-10 on Friday.
minimaker
Well, there is not a real program or anything. It's just walk in and chat. Officially it goes on till midnight but the time I was there it went on a bit longer. One more bit of info, it's in Salon A of the Hyatt. Floor three at the top of the escalators. Wren
Cool, thanks! I was just wondering if it'd be worth my while to wander by after 10pm if I'm not exhausted. Thanks for the locale, also!
