Pallas4

Question

Can you see the picture? edit better pic few posts bellow :

Ok. does the neverborn win point for hold their force?

Pro : yes because the moonshinobi is not in the engagement range of baby Kade so "no other friendly models engaging them"

Con : no becase engagment is reciprocal.

What do you think about it?

Thanks

The rule book doesn't use the words "engage" or "engaged by" when defining Engagement, and doesn't define a meaning for either of those two terms.  But...

In other games that do define those mechanics, "engage" and "engaged by" are typically defined as "If I have you in my melee range, I engage you" and "If you have me in your melee range, I am engaged by you" (plus line of sight as applicable).

The annoying thing is "engage" and "engaged by" are used in the rule book.  Looking at the FAQ and things like the errata for Paralyzed:

Quote

Pg 52, “Paralyzed” Condition: Change the text of the rst paragraph to: “A model with the Paralyzed Condition generates no AP and can declare no Actions (whether or not its the model’s Activation). The model is also not considered to have an engagement range or to be engaging any models (and therefore cannot take Disengaging Strikes).”

Or the original text for Paralyzed: "... and will therefore not engage enemy models."

So "engage" and "engaged by" do appear to be the two non-symmetric halves of "engagement", not just two different ways of saying "engaged".
