A debt to the guild
This april I will be hosting a 16 player tournament in Stockholm.

This will be the first event actively aiming to start a traditional Finnkamp or Ruotsi-ottelu. I have reserved six spots for a delegation of the finnish Malifaux dreamteam. No official tally will be kept between the two countries but who wins first place will of course be a big deal. I also have it on good authority that our very own grand champion Elinore Rönning will attend to defend our honour! This will most of all be a day of friendly and good spirited competition and players of all skill levels are welcome.

When:
Saturday the 14th of April. From 10.00 to approximately 18.00

Where:
Alphaspel game shop, Sparbanksvägen 14, Stockholm. This tournament is sponsored by Alphaspel which is one of the most diverse game shops in the nordic countries, carrying over 30.000 articles from a variety of miniature and tabletop games. For more info see www.alphaspel.se .

Entry: 100kr (not including meals)

Further information:
The event will be three rounds. Each round is 2:30 to allow a game without too big of a rush. Gaining grounds 18 will be adhered to unless otherwise noted.
Single faction or single master is allowed. If you go the single master route, that master may be declared as both factions during the event but before each match you must declare which faction it is this match and remind your opponent which single master you had picked.
Prizes will be awarded for the podium-placing players and there will be a lottery among the other players. Prize support will be a combination of gift cards from Alphaspel and limited models from Wyrd.
Fully painted crews will be much appreciated but not enforced.
Major conversions and proxies apart from those specified in gaining grounds will need to be presented to the organiser for pre-approval, preferably in the form of a photo. I’m usually pretty conversion friendly but sometimes ask you to write the name of the model on the side of the base for clarity.

In an effort to minimize rulings and let people know how I will be ruling certain divisive rules debates I have made a list of my interpretations on some rules. This is done to let people decide which models to use in advance and not be disappointed at the actual event because you thought it would work in a different way. Feel free to submit questions you have about certain interactions so I can give a ruling ahead of the event.

Personal FAQ last updated march 20th.

Q/A1: Lucky effigy. Any ram flipped on a positive or negative counts for this ability so you can heal multiple times in a single duel. This does not mean other abilities mentioning flips counts the same way (for example a lawyer still needs to cause moderate damage to make the defender slow).

Q/A2: Abilities that work in an area of “one or more models with this ability” do not stack. They also need to measure their individual aura from the model itself instead of any model with the ability. This applies to abilities like Catalyst on McMourning and Sebastian, Lead the patrol on Guard sergeants, Over excited on Gremlin criers as well as other abilities with the same wording. This means that McMourning cannot tick poison on himself at the start of his activation unless he is within Sebastian's aura and Guild sergeants need to start an activation within another sergeants aura to gain the walk boost.

Q3: What happens if a Will O' The Wisp casts The Wisp's Call on a Voodoo Doll that is Hemed to an enemy model, which now gains the Whispers In The Night condition as well?
A3: The  Voodoo doll counts as having applied the condition so the model will need to walk towards the voodoo doll. Since the condition was applied by another source than the action it only lasts until the end of the turn.

Q4: Encouragement and multi ap actions, how does it work?
A4: The attacks generated by a charge/flurry/rapid fire do not count as duels resulting from the action since they have separate declarations. You would need to use encouragement on the individual attacks to get the bonus. You would however be able to use encouragement to get a positive to the terrifying test resulting from charging a terrifying model since terrifying is considered to be a direct cause of the action. You could also use it to get a positive to both the manipulative duel and attack duel of an attack targeting a manipulative model.

Q5: How does "This action can only target the same model once per turn" and several different models taking the same action interact?
A5: This is a targeting restriction placed on the action itself so even if another model is taking the action it is still considered trying to target the same model with the same action and not allowed. This applies to Lucius’ Issue command  and Collette’s Prompt and possibly other actions with similar restrictions that can be copied.

Q6: If a model is allowed to take an action through a trigger but that action has a stipulation on how many times it may be taken per turn/activation how does it work?
A6: The triggered action does not count towards the limitation so you can take it even if you have already taken the action that turn, you may also use the action normally after using it as a trigger. This applies to McMourning with Guild coroner and Cassandra’s Magician’s prop trigger among possibly other similar abilities.

Q7: How does the soul porter interact with Ply for information?
A7: The condition is removing itself based on its fixed end point. This is not considered as removed by an enemy action or ability since the condition is removing itself.

Turku has four guys in varying stages of "maybe" to "confirmed". I'm still tying up some loose ends but should be able to make a legit sign-up soon enough. Can't wait. You did a fantastic job with previous Tumbacon tournament :D

Thanks! People were apparently all over this kind of event. :D
