Difference between triggered actions & actions

Teph

Question

Hi, at the first; good evening for all.

I'm new on malifaux.

Could you explain me which is the difference between an action that triggers another action & an action that is "composed" by other actions?

I will try to explain better (my apologize, i'm not an nature english speaker, so i could try to explain as clean as i can...)

A charge action is an action that let you make 2 (1) actions...

An action that triggers another action is still the same action as triggers are explained...

So... if i trigger another attack action, is it the same action?

Thy for your time.

Welcome! Glad you found your way here. :)

The first action isn't fully resolved before the second action has been resolved so anything happening after it resolves needs to wait.

The action from the trigger is counted as a new action in almost every other way but you do not spend ap to take it.

The same is true for a charge, it generates two attacks but the attacks are their own actions.

Do you have a specific situation you are wondering about?

It is still an action that grants another action.

So from a rules point of view there is no real difference between an attack caused by the Onslaught trigger (On Lady Justice for example) and an attack Caused by the charge action.

From the errata, (but the original wording in the main rule book will still work the same way for this)

  • Pg 38, “Actions Causing Actions” Call Out Box: Change the text of the first paragraph to: “Some Actions and Abilities will force or allow a model to take another Action. If an Action or Ability calls for another Action to be taken (such as Charge or “Make A New Entry”) then the additional Action or Actions do not cost any AP. The original Action is not considered resolved until the new Actions are also resolved.”

The trigger that allows you an extra action is an ability
