Pushes into base contact

Hollow

Question

Hi, I have a question regarding pushes that states "into base contact". Statement from rulebook (p. 46) says:

Quote

Some game effects require a model to be pushed in relation to another object, such as towards or away from another model. When this happens the model must move in a straight line while obeying these restrictions, moving directly towards (or away from) the specified object.

Does "into base contact" push count as "related to another object" and should models be pushed directly towards? Is it possible, for example, to push into base contact like shown in the picture below?

You cannot push as in your image if the effect tells you to push into base contact.

It's considered in relation to another object because it is telling you how to push using another object as a reference point. If you are pushing based on another object you are always pushing directly towards or away from the object.

It's better imo to think of "Into base contact" as a measurement of distance (i.e. "push towards the model a distance far enough to get into base contact"), not direction.

Is it sure?

(It reducing utility of all "push in BTB" from pretty ability to hell one time in a year it will work good )

It is this way for sure. Pushes require meticulous setup to work, that is part of the reason why lures are very handy as opposed to the similar abilities that push. Pushes on the other hand ignore severe terrain so that can also be huge.

In the above example if the lone base was trying to push the others into base with itself, the leftmost one would actually be impossible to push closer since it would instantly hit it's buddy to the right.

2 more questions about pushs in to base contact.

0 action of Teddy say: "Push this model into base contact with target enemy model. ... "

can I declare and resolve this action if on a Teddy's way stay another model that block him possibility to reach btb with target enemy?

And 2d question is:

Teddy's attack action have build in trigger the that pushing enemy up to 4" and than Teddy pushing into base contact with this model.

Teddy make an attack on enemy model but between him and his target stay another model. Can I declare trigger, push enemy model and don't push teddy into base contact with target cuz he stretch agains another model?

It comes down to a point where the rules are consistent:  When you're told to perform a push, you perform a push according to the Push rules.  Part of the Push rules is that pushes stop early if they contact various things.

To copy/paste from the Push examples on page 43 of the Malifaux M2E book:

Quote

The Ice Gamin is pushed 3" directly away from the Mathure Nephilm. However, it comes into contact with an impassable boulder, and stops moving.

and

Quote

Nothing impedes this Ice Gamin's push, so it is pushed the full 3" directly away from the Mature Nephilim.

Those are the captions for two Ice Gamin being subject to:

Quote

This Mature Nephelim has the Wing Buffet Tactical Action that pushes all models within :pulse4 of itself 3" directly away. It uses the ability while a pair of Ice Gamin are nearby.

One of the Ice Gamin is pushed 3" and the other is pushed less than 3", but there's no choice involved concerning how far the models are pushed.  Pushes into base contact are the same the way--the model is pushed in the direction directly towards the other model, and if something causes the push to end prematurely before base contact, that's fine.
