Since the models are really glossy but I think a good coat of satin varnish will help! Love the vibrant colours on the skinks :-D I always use this wood dark varnish, army painter is too expensive for me. so_diogenes Posted May 30, 2017 Report Share Posted May 30, 2017 This month I finished Toshiro and Yan lo that I had already started, then did: Izamu, Chiaki, Soul Porter, 2 komainu, McCabe on horse, dismounted McCabe, Sidir Archibal, 2 wastrels, Luna, Dawn Serpent. Pics are in my 2017 Monthly Painting album: I think my Izamu came out really good, probably the best quality job I've done so far. Sidir and Luna were my first experiment with washes, Sidir came out way better than Luna but I only did it on his coat vs Luna i just did her whole body. My photo skills continue to disappoint me---I spent a lot of time on Luther's eyes to give them what I thought was a good blood-shot look (inspired by Omnicarnivore), but this does not show up. A very cautious few whisper that she wears the mask in homage to her unrequited crush, Lucius Mattherson. whatever the reason, the porcelain baby doll mask just adds to the intimidation one feels when face to face with Sgt. P.s.: I'm not able to downsize the pictures so they're always huge. Anyone knows how to change this? I noticed indeed that the model is very top-heavy (duh). What I did with my warhammer miniatures was stick some pieces of lead underneath the base. But the malifaux bases have like this extra circle so thats a bit annoying, so I just filled the entire base with putty, adding some weight making it ok to play. But just to ensure some extra stability I'm planning to add some real rocks to the base and since the balsa wood and the miniature are relatively light this makes the model surprisingly stable. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Boomstick Posted June 1, 2017 Report Share Posted June 1, 2017 And, finally getting a breather from work to post, here is what ended up coming out of my May. 2 Wardens (12ss), Miss Alt Guild Sergent (6ss), Trapper (6ss), Doppleganger (7ss), Sonia Avatar as the Brutal Emissary (10ss), and two Changelings converted from the creepy children and carnivorous flowers from the Mysterious Emissary (8ss) fro a total of 49ss. For June, actually going to do some Outcasts, now that I've escaped from Lucius' commanding presence. Side point, I'm really interested in thoughts on the Brutal Emissary here. I was trying to make Sonia herself look like the blue/white center of a flame, but I'm worried she looks too icy and I'm not sure how to fix that. Given your 80 SS painted for May, do you want to jump in at the top level of Emissary for >30 SS/month? The next lower level is Master at 16--30 SS/month. Note that by joining in month three of the painting challenge, you have used your two Mulligans, i.e., everyone can miss painting their goal for two months, but on strike three, they are out of the challenge.
